    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      Thanks Gamerman! Keep up the good work!

      I think A&A has reached its limit when it comes to complexity. This global version is FAR more complex than the original A&A, but either way I really like it. The problem is getting new people to play A&A, especially since its HUGELY time consuming. Oops, sorry, off topic. Thanks again for the help :-)

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      Some silly questions:

      1. If the US makes an amphibious assault on for instance Southern Italy, and the sz is occupied only by a cruiser belonging to the UK. If Italy decides to scramble, do they have to fight the UK cruiser in addition to the US fleet?

      2. When you are making an amphibious assault, can you always send planes into the same sz in case the defender scrambles?

      3. If Moscow has fallen to Germany and the UK moves into a Sovjet territory in NCM, can they claim the IPCs? Or can they just claim the IPCs from territories that are liberated? Can the UK make use of the ICs or AAs in the Sovjet territories they move into/ liberate?

      Thanks!

      Thanks :-)

      A quick one: Since the UK controls the Canadian territories, can Germany attack these without provocing the US into war? Whatever the answer I assume the same goes for disrupting the convoy in sz 106, right?

      Thanks again!

      @Cmdr:

      Yes.  Casualties are removed at the end of each combat round.  Defending casualties are selected first, but they still remain for the completion of that round of combat, therefore, the destroyer would still be ‘present’ and able to locate the submarines for the fighters.

      Ok, thanks Jennifer, Im sure your right with your experience and all, but If I could get a 100% confirmation on this from Krieg it would be GREAT :lol:

      Hello!

      I think someone else asked this question somewhere in here, but anyway Id really like an official answer from say Krieghund or Gamerman:

      On G1: If I attack the UK dd & trn in sz 109 with only subs, and the UK scrambles a couple of fighters, can the planes hit the subs even if the subs take out the ships in the first round of battle? (Since the dd technically is not yet sunk, and can fire back before removed from play).

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      Regarding sub vs. sub combat: The rulebook doesnt seem to be clear on the procedure for these kinds of battles. If my lone sub is attacked by another lone sub, does the defending sub get to choose to submerge before the attacker can conduct the surprise attack? Or do they both roll for the surprise attack, and then the defender can choose to submerge afterwards?

      Thanks!

    • RE: First Round Moves for the axis

      So, what are the advantages of buying an IC in Yugo? Because its nearer to the USSR? So youll be able to produce ground troops there as well?

      My thought is that Yugo isnt close enough to the USSR to justify using the IPCs on building one. Its probably better to go for a capture of the IC in Ukraine, pluss buying an additional in Western Ukraine, if you consider yourself strong enough to hold it.

      Any suggestions when it comes to buying a German IC in general?

      Anyway, while letting the Germany get S. France and free access to the Med, Italy can be compensated by capturing Normandie on I2, thus getting some much needed income. And with the Germans backing Italy a little in the Med, the Italians could get the upper hand on the UK in Africa/ The Middle East, and be the dominant power Moussolini was dreaming of. Not helping Italy and rather save the money for the war against USSR could easily back-fire on you in the long run, when the UK is earning all those IPCs from Africa/ The Middle East.

      @mantlefan:

      What I don’t get is why so many people blow valuable mobile units attacking South France with Germany. It’s an easy battle for italy, they need the IPC, and the 2 inf 2 art Italy uses aren;t useful too many other places I1. Plus the 4 extra units in france or normandy free up more planes to have more dominant victories agianst the brit navy. South France G1 is a terrible idea in my opinion.

      I think the reason youd (my appostrophe botton doesnt work)want to get Southern France is mainly that Germany gets access to the Med, therebye helping Italy taking control of the Med, Africa and the Middle East by investing in a CV (aircraft carrier) and a couple of transports. Havent tried it myself, and by using recources down there Germany will ofcourse be a bit weaker when up against the Sovjets, but could be worth it in the long run…?

      This strategy would imply that you skip attacking Normandie on G1, so you want need to use any planes in the attack on France. I suggest using three of Germanys mechs + the fighter from Slovakia/ Hungary to take down the inf & art in Southern France. You can than fortify the tt with some italian troops on I1.

      Anyone tried this strategy?

      Both 119 and 118 are adjacent to SZ 109 on the west coast of England

      Hello!

      Questions:

      1. Is sz 119 adjacent to sz 109? (Or do you really have to move through sz 118 and 108 to get from sz 119 to sz 109?)

      2. Is sz 118 adjacent to sz 109?

      Thanks!

      @Nibface:

      “I´m planning for sea lion on G1, so Ill probably buy me at least an AC to protect the fleet, maybe also a CA (why is the cruiser dubbed CA?) or two transports. Anyone got a better buy on G1 when sea lion is the master plan?”

      How exactly are you gonna do this General? ;-)

      Greetings mr Nibface :-D Of course Im not planning on attacking the UK on G1, but I can see how the above sentence could be interpreted in this way. G3 will probably be the one.

      Anyway, my (strategically inferior) opponent is probably not expecting a sea lion, and will most likely splash his cash trying to develop some stupid secret weapon :| Even though Ive already told him theres no such thing as a secret weapon in A&A, he still insists hes gonna make “the most cunning weapon the world has ever seen”(!). It seems its gonna be an easy win this time :-D

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      Some questions from the beautiful city of Oslo:

      1. When Germany and the Sovjet Union are not at war with eachother, can the UK land an aircraft in a territory belonging to the SU? F. ex. after attacking german ships? And vice versa: Can the SU land aircraft in a territory belonging to the UK (prior to the SU being at war with Germany)?

      2. Can the UK and the SU mix any units while Germany and the US is not at war?

      3. Can the UK and ANZAC mix units and use eachothers naval bases when they are still not at war with Japan?

      4. Can Germany attack the UK ships in SZ 106 on G1, without provoking the US into war? Especially since there is a convoy in that sea zone.

      5. Can you disrupt convoys without being at war with that particular nation? Can f. ex. Germany disrupt the convoy in SZ 106? Or the SU disrupt the one in SZ 125?

      6. Do you have to make a DOW at the beginning of your turn to be able to disrupt a nations convoys in the non-combat phase?

      Thanks (-:

      @General:

      maybe also a CA (why is the cruiser dubbed CA?)

      US Navy hull classification symbols. CV = carrier, BB = battleship, CA = heavy cruiser, CL = light cruiser, etc.

      Thanks! My military knowledge capital isnt the highest, even though Ive seen shit loads of war movies, especially about WW2 (-:

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      Since there are a lot of stupid questions in this thread I have got one too:

      Is it possible to use other nations naval bases? I assume you can use friendly nations bases, but what about neutrals or enemies? More specifically: Can Japan use Uks naval base in Kwangtung? What about the US naval base in the Philippines (when the US is not at war).

      Thanks!

    • RE: Convoy questions!

      @JimmyHat:

      I can answer easy questions!

      First let me say, you should but a 2 liter of Jolt cola and spend a day or 2 reading the sticky threat A&AGlobal FAQ or something like that.  Its right up above this post and hold many kernels of valuable rules.  A quick study of that should equip you with the ability to wade through any rule.

      1. You can only convoy disrupt when at war, it is not a DOW.  You would have to DOW before hand.  There is nothing keeping Russia from leaving that sub there when not at war, it just would not convoy raid.

      2)it depends, if the convoy zone is empty, than it is a noncombat move.  If it is a hostile zone, then you would have to move in in combat to clear the convoy.  This means you can sometimes attack a convoy zone with 1 dd and many planes against many subs.  If you clear the zone and they kill your dd, then just move another combat ship into the zone in noncom.

      3)Yes.  In fact I believe you can move into the zone in noncom even if there is a dd.  The enemy can attack you on their turn of course.

      Thanks Jimmy!! Infact I have read through the whole FAQ thread, but still havent got a copy of the Europe 1940 rulebook )-: I was wondering why some people seems to buy a DD on Germany1, when you really dont need one until you are going to make a DOW on Sovjet (assuming your right about the convoy- rules).

      Im planning for sea lion on G1, so Ill probably buy me at least an AC to protect the fleet, maybe also a CA (why is the cruiser dubbed CA?) or two transports. Anyone got a better buy on G1 when sea lion is the master plan?

    • Convoy questions!

      I am preparing my shrude Axis-strategy for my first Global game with my friend, but I dont have the european rulebook at home (gonna get a copy soon), so my apologies if these questions are a bit stupid:

      1. Is a convoy disruption considered a DOW? F. ex.:Can the russians move their sub in sz 127 into an uncontested sz 125 on Sovjet-1 even if their not allowed to attack Germany at this stage? Can Germany, in the same way, disrupt US convoys without provoking the US into war?

      2. Is moving a war ship into an uncontested convoy zone (to disrupt) considered a combat move or a non-combat move?

      3. Can you disrupt a convoy with a sub by moving it into a contested sz (where there is enemy war ships, but not a destroyer)?

      Thanks! And greetings from Oslo (-:
