I have found You-tube to be my go to place for period music and videos of reenactments. If one looks at videos by a facinating gentleman by the name of H.K.Edgerton a interesting viewpoint is expressed. Another video I stumbled across which was very current is entitled “In defense of the Confederate flag” by David Carroll. As a side note history is history as gamers we know and one must look at the past to understand it thru the pasts eyes of the time tho we know better with our eyes of today. We need reminders lest we forget. Our past is our Heritage.

Confederate soldiers are American veterans by act of Congress 1958. That is a American veterans flag.

RE: A&A as a training tool for ROTC cadetsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Years ago chess was the G40 of it’s day. A beginners guide to analysis. Much as G40 lends itself. It could be used by any military instructor of any nation. And on a side note these United States are the freest states in the world for the individual. You can’t beat it anywhere. This nation of United States is the “shake-n-bake” of nation building. If all nations followed the rule book we follow, might find that militaries are no longer needed but be prepared for possible interplanetary encounters. So G40 will still be useful in planting seeds or new conscripts.

I believe the military will also allow the rich and joyful to join. Part of being in a free country. Redleg13A was discussing G40 in the G40 forum and I see no harm or foul. I am looking forward to more of his posts.

RE: IPCs off the trackerposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
There is a usefull IPC chart available for use at the website I Will Never Grow Up. If you scroll down a bit and look for a APPS logo on the right side it will take you a spot that you might find helpfull. The chart goes up to 104 and you can move the countries markers around. I use that a lot.

The U.S. has a obligation to fulfill. We have to stand by the Budapest Memorandum. Nations borders aren’t being redrawn by force period. World stability is in question if force of arms can redraw nations borders in the 21st century.

RE: Crimean Property of?posted in General Discussion
It is the property of the Ukrainian nation and has been taken by force of arms. You might very well see a arms race amongst nations (Japan,South Korea,Taiwan,Saudi Arabia,NATO members ect. ectc.). If this action is allowed to happen then no nation can ever trust its agreements that it has with the U.S.

RE: Russia escalates thingsposted in General Discussion
The use of the word “wisely” at this point in time has yet to be determined. The annexation of Crimea can not be allowed. We have a obligation to the Ukraine and its territorial integrity. Our national honor is involved here. The Budapest memorandum surely implies that obligation. I am quite sure that the Ukrainians thought so when they gave up their nuclear weapons. The total withdrawal of Russian forces is the only acceptable outcome. Remember that Mr. Putin brought the rifle to the bargaining table.

RE: Surprise strike VS Surprise strikeposted in Axis & Allies 1941
If it is just ss vs ss I would have taken the option of submerging (no att. DD present) because my defensive roll is 1 compared to the att. roll of 1 or 2. Unless I feel the luck is with me. If there is a surface fleet I’m helping I’ll stay.

RE: "Roll of the Caissons" 1942 Montage Videoposted in World War II History
Cool! Go Army! Those were the days. “Let’s all sing along” A person doesn’t see that kind of stuff anymore. The Office of Emergency Management of yesteryear sure operated a bit different differently than the Homeland Security of today in regards to information to the public. Get’s me kinda in the mood to beat the Russians into the Ukraine.

RE: Fighter vs AAAposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
This has been interesting not that I know anything. If one looks at the unit profile section (pg. 29 Europe '40se) for AAA shows that the AAA fire happens immediately before normal combat. Then under the no combat value section it explains that if there are no combat units with it and it is attacked then it is automatically destroyed. AAA fires before the general combat steps. That’s my vote.

RE: The Dirty Dozenposted in World War II History
The movie is a story of some condemned soldiers who are offered amnesty if they volunteer for this particular military mission and survive. They were not depicting terrorists it was a military mission with a military goal. I would never view terroristic acts as being patriotic. War is ugly. The only thing that is worse than war is losing a war. I hope that we have reached a point in this world that a conflict such as WWII will not happen. But if ever it does we must do whatever it takes to ensure if possible that it doesn’t occur and failing that - doing what it takes to win. War has only one rule. Terrorists are not patriots and a military mission is not a terroristic act. Close your eyes and envision the world if “they” had been the victors and gotten the "spoils. Those were the days-all star cast. Longest Day was star studded. THE DUKE.

RE: Thoughts on 1941posted in Axis & Allies 1941
I agree with you it’s a little chess like. I don’t think off hand with you that adding art. would hurt. Which reminds me of your idea for adding 1 IPC for everyone per territory controlled. I did a couple of games of '41 using your idea. Made the games more interesting and I’m really thinking not to unbalanced. It’s the only way I’ll go at the moment. Art. could help the Axis early on with a little cheaper bite and not hurt anything but I don’t think I would add mech., the tank is enough. Production capacity has been a little stifling and challenging.

If G42 is being played as all other earlier AA editions (i.e. no non-aggression pact) then the Mongolian rules should be void.

RE: Flying Tigersposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
The rules state that that these two areas are special cases they can be entered at anytime as all other territories with a Nationalist emblem. They may control them (i.e. gain IPC) if recapturing them from the Axis while India is under Axis control. If India is liberated then I believe control reverts back to the British. Those two areas can be a safe zone for units for if the Japanese wish to attack them they must be in a state of war with the British.

RE: More G 42 Questionsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I would have to lean towards WILD BILL’s way of thought. G42 is a scenario of G40 a continuation you may think but at a differant starting point. If Japan/Soviet Union are at war, which one started it?
