      @MrMalachiCrunch:

      Garg, you can do a google search on just about anything and get a hit.

      If you google aliens impregnated Richard Nixon you get over a 1/4 million hits.  Of course if you put it in quotes for the exact phrase you get no hits.

      In WWII, do you think any of the weapons sent to covert agents found there way to the Germany military?  Since that possibility could not be reduced to zero, do you think the logical conclusion was to then offer zero support to covert operations in case the bad guy gets some of your goodies?

      I think NATO did the right thing in Libya.  Do I think there was zero chance of support falling into the wrong hands, of course not.  Was the risk worth it?  I think so.

      So, if one wants to help anti-Assad forces one will take the risk that some of that support may fall into the wrong hands, I am sure some of it will.  Do you offer zero support because a rifle might end up in the hands of Al-Qaeda?  Yeah, I don’t think flooding the area with stinger missiles is the thing to do either.

      Garg, if the current US president is not familiar with the concept of blow-back then god help us all!

      There is history here, though.  The Taliban was essentially trained & funded by the CIA.  Of course at the time they were devoid of precognition, so didn’t think it would come back to bite them in the ass.  Iraq is similar but not exactly the same, as well as Noriega.

      But either way, what Garg quotes is a Tennessee Senator fearing that Al-Qaeda will end up with the support given to Assad opposition groups (which apparently some oppose, probably for their own power).

      All I have to say is C O O L !

      I’ve been following this issue for sometime now.  And as a matter of sharing a “historical event”.  I thought I’d post this link here for everyone’s review.

      For a time, “Defense Distributed” could only print some parts of a firearm.  Now it looks like they’ve finally put together the entire package in a prototype! (Minus ammunition of course…)

      A reminder - be very VERY wary of any political discussion surrounding this item at aa.org.

      I didn’t want to read any comments on Into Darkness for fear of getting any spoiler tidbit. Let me just say I was stunned (not in a good way) by the third act. I could forgive the plot holes and shortcuts but the shameless recycling was unforgivable. Not looking forward to the most obvious sequel of the last 20 years.

      Cool story. I love how they just refurbished it after it took the a-bomb and saw how much more punishment it could take. It’s like testing to find the strongest M&M in the bag!

      Cuba is omitted because the US holds an open ended lease for complete jurisdiction and control of Guantanamo Bay and Cuban authorities have absolutely no jurisdiction on the premises. It is for all intents and purposes, American soil. Furthermore, the US and Cuba have no diplomatic relations. So, if anything it is actually more of an occupation than a legit overseas military installation.

      But I see your point. I would probably put it on the map. I didnt make the map you see. I just put it up because it was related to the other topic and I found it interesting.

      Clearly you did too. ;-)

      Guys,

      ––Great story!

      ----This somewhat reminds me of the Japanese pilot that was shot down over Midway Island while flying down the middle of the airstrip, at 20 ft. altitude, INVERTED!  :-o It was a spectacular feat,…until he was blasted out of the sky. I’d imagine many of you have read about this.
      ----There were many “interesting” stunts of this nature. With the witnesses usually being too stunned to react appropriately, especially as they only lasted split-seconds, or very briefly at the most. Human nature affects us all sometimes, irregardless of nationality.

      @dinosaur:

      Yea, I remember those days too.  The best game out there was a text based Star Trek game called Space Wars because of possible copyright infringement.  It took about one minute to make a single move or fire a torpeedo.  If you warped into a sector with more than two Klingon ships, you’d better use phasers and knock them out in a single salvo or you may not get a second chance.

      We had that game on our high school PDP-8 computer.  The key was to do a scan of the entire universe so you knew where the klingon’s were.  We had a grid made the represented that universive size, and could determine the number of units to warp to each occupied space.  Also used photon torpedos to pick off individual klingon ships instead of phasers that used lots of power.

      I believe we did clear the galaxy once, but it was a lot of work to do so!

      He’s -presumed dead- but officially considered “Missing”. What a bunch of JUNK… And they won’t let the family access THIER OWN PROPERTY to look for THEIR OWN SON/BROTHER; worse -becuase he’s missing- the family can’t access benefits for over a year or more.

      What has the world come to? The government is willing to consider criminally charging these people for digging to find thier own family member?

      If my brother (or any member of AA.org) was down that hole, and they wouldn’t let me get to the body, I’d start putting led into people.

      Star of AfricaS

      Hi,

      No, if Germany takes Holland it gets only the 2 IPC for Holland (IPC’s are lost to the bank), the DEI immediately taken over by FEC. But only the Income, not the troops. So the dutch infantry on the DEI can only defend. The dutch navy is, like all Dutch countries allied with UK (incl. Canada, South Africa, Anzac, FEC) and France since the beginnig of the game. Is not really historical accurate, I know.

      So Japan is forced to attack the Dutch DEI or Germany gets a problem with Holland home Guard.

      Please don’t strangle Italy too badly here. She has a good navy to start, but let’s not forget the UK is able to make those landings in Greece/Yugo (not to mention Brazil) for the instant bonus before the Axis are able to do anything at all.

      I think Wild Bill made some great points about the devilment the UK can cause the Axis in the Med. on T1.
