      Thank you :-)

      And I also learned even more, I’ve been doing a couple of games in these last two weeks.
      I’d ask for another round, but I’m not sure if you’re interested.

      @Jermofoot:

      @Gargantua:

      Call it Progress.

      Call it Change.

      Call it Reform.

      Call it War.

      Like rolling the dice in Axis and Allies, anything can happen and there are no garuntees; But if you don’t like the gameboard and you want to improve your control of “progress/change/reform/victory” for your side, you have to move your pieces in play to “take the chance” on better results.

      What Peters is saying is that the Bush administration set the pieces in order to contribute to a possible “roll of the dice” in Egypt; and that some credit is deserved for this.

      Anyways - want to know who I think deserves Credit? And like Deanin his time, I was lamblasted for saying had a “level of grace” about this process?

      Mubarak.

      Unlike Assad, or Ghaddafi, Mubarak saw the writing on the wall, knew what was at stake and basically resigned without a shot fired - all the while knowing he would likely face criminal proceedings. You have to have some respect for that.

      Call it dumb.

      Some change.  Where is Egypt now?  In complete turmoil right now.  What an improvement.

      @Gargantua:

      What was wrong with the Iraq war again?

      Sorry, I tuned out to the news on it for about 5 years… far away up here in Canada you know.

      IMO, at the time, there was no significant justification for it.  It seemed pretty clear to me the motivation for it was not what was being sold to the American public, who ate it up anyway post WW2.  And the conflict of interest, cronyism and outright corruption involved in bidding contracts, infrastructure, supply, etc. just about makes me sick.  And hardly anyone even cared.  The public was duped and we are paying for our bamboozle.

      Like politics, Sausage is ugly when made.

      I wonder what the “world” said about the American Civil war during the 1860’s.  “It’s in complete turmoil right now”.

      The “turmoil” in Egpyt is a piddlance in comparison to the turmoil in Syria… or what we saw in Libya.  Considering the players, the location, and the stakes, it is a fairly well moderated shift.  There aren’t 1000’s of people dying in the streets.

      The “shift to what” is the question we should be asking.

      I think if Denmark is neutral then the straights should be open to any country. Germany should take Denmark to keep the UK fleet from entering….I will add this in my 6.1 rules coming out this weekend.

      @DarthShizNit:

      No, even if we assume it’s their “oh my god” type thing, it’s still annoying as hell how many damn times they say it. Also, in the second video that’s a T-55 and they actually don’t hit it, they hit the truck behind it, so really, that tank survived many allah snackbars.

      Not the exact same, but same principal.

      If it’s annoying then don’t watch the video?  Not sure what to tell you, but you’re an adult and should be able to figure it out.

      Well that’s just some ground breaking advice right there. Or I’ll still watch them and complain about it. But it doesn’t bother me half as much as the amount of hip fire that goes on in these conflicts does lol  :-P

      @Clyde85:

      @ABWorsham:

      I would be aiming for a German victory in WWI, the Allies had their chance and screwed up.

      A German victory in WW1 would be ideal here, but I believe that you wouldn’t need to bring and weapons back with you, just a history book, and point to the few mistakes Germany made and say, “ok, now don’t do that, do this instead”.

      If I had to choose a weapon though, i’m kinda torn. On the one hand, bringing back the StuG III would be great to help the Germans break the dead lock without a doubt, but I wonder how well German industry could support them once they went into action, long enough to break the front? Maybe. On the other hand, if I were to bring back the MG42, I know that German industry could support and and keep these weapons running, meaning longer usage and a greater chance of this weapon tipping the balance for a German victory.Â

      Awesome points, the MG 42 would have shredded Allied ranks between the lines.

      I have actually found quite the opposite. The majority of hits are happening on ‘3’ in a lot of these fights.

      Because of the slow movement of assaulting troops, the defender has plenty of time to build a large defensive stack, of which the aggressor will be sure to meet with a large amount as well.

      The smaller skirmish fights are absolutely a total crapshoot most times but when you start to get megastacks of 50-70 infantry the battle results really start to gravitate toward the average results almost every time, with variations if about ±5 at most. Rolling 60 dice? You should expect 25-35 hits almost every time.

      This is the part of the game where I think overarching strategy and planning are what are going to determine the outcome of the game. You know the enemy is going to inflict X amount of casualties, how to maneuver, prepare, and deal with it and the probable worst-case battle scenarios.

      I mean if the other guy defends with 30 troops and gets 25 hits, that can and will happen if you play Axis & Allies enough, but it won’t happen often enough to influence the result of every game. If one aberrant fight decides the entire game for you then either A) Your strategy shouldn’t have hinged on the luck of the dice if one battle decided the fate of the world, B) You were in a position of desperation anyway and had to bet it all on black (you always bet on black, I’m told) or C) It just wasn’t meant to be that day (this is like failing to take France as Germany in Global 1940 that 1% of the time).

      There is a reason people play low-luck games, but I feel like that certainly takes some of the mystery out of the game. Part of the “skill” in Axis & Allies isn’t how lucky you are at rolling dice, it’s how you cope with the bad luck when it happens.
