    • RE: Can you fire a rockets with an aa gun and move it in the same turn? (nt)

I would say so, just like a bmb moves during non combat after SBR, an AA can only move during non com, i see no reason it cant move after firing.

Especially considering the rules forbid it from moving during the combat phase

So if I invade France, and capture it, the ships in port there become mine?

    • Going to try to pull the wool over our eyes?

      Here’s what I’m thinking…

      1. The game is only going to be $35 or whatever…

“Newly sculpted playing pieces and all new packaging will position this game as the cornerstone of the Axis & Allies game line for years to come.”

all of the over 350 plastic playing pieces are country-specific - Quote from Axis and Allies Europe

I’m noting they are not saying that AA1942 will have Country Specific Playing pieces… and I’m thinking with the low (lowest ever) cost… that they may return to the days of original A&A where all countries had EXACTLY the same pieces (barring infantry)

Any thoughts?  Why bother with “New Scuplt’s” If you want to keep the costs down, just use the old ones!!!

    • RE: AA50 OOB Dice

Get a copy of Axis and Allies Europe,  For whatever reason from the 3 copies I own, the Dice have been coined “Headhunter” and “sniper” dice

Simple because they seem to have a 35% or higher ratio of rolling 1’s

Outside of that, Put them in the microwave with the 1 or the 6 at the bottom for 3 min,  that should round the edges out :P and you should stop rolling 5’s :D  And probably 2, 3, and 4 as well ;)

    • RE: New player with a strange start up

How long has that thing been sitting on the Shelf at the store?

My copy of revised, that I bought when it FIRST came out, had different prices for different countries,  but I never noticed any starting placement errors…

Perhaps you’re not reading the Sea-Zone’s right on the map?  Or they aren’t typed on correctly?

    • RE: Modules for ABattlemap

I had some comments I’d like to share…

ABattlemap is awesome, as is all the work that people volunteer into it so that I can play Axis and Allies online ! :D THANK YOU!

      But…
      Ottawa is mis-spelled :( as Ottowa :( I am canadian so I noticed :(

      and…

Anyway the NO box’s could be put in a nation’s capital?  So new players don’t have to play where’s waldo whilst looking for them? (very greatful they are explained at the top of the screen :D)

Last but not least, I’m really confused here about all these modules, and stuff, big pieces, tool piece’s, pale and not so pale maps that look EXACTLY the same :S (really miss the darker one :*( )  Can someone sticky or edit in the URL’s for whatever current module’s there are or whatever so that I can download things and know WTF they are and how to install them, to get the dark map back, and try new Bigger pieces etc ?

Not sure if anyone will respond, but I figured I’d put it out there, again THANK YOU! for doing this, A&A PBF is a blast and I appreciate all volunteer hours! :P

    • RE: Russkies in India

Skip building the factory at all

use units that start in the pacific theatre, in the pacific theatre (use dst trn from AUS to try and take a jap island for example)

Just keep around 6 units TOTAL in india, and keep blasting anything the Japs put in Burma,  this forces him to bring aircraft, and more then 2 transports to attack you.

You can put american fgts into Aus then to Ind aswell, this forces him to keep his fleet honest.

This works, and you still have maximum british pressure on GER in the atlantic, and you’ve delayed Japan significantly, which keeps more IPC’s for England going.

    • RE: Game changing idea

If you wanted to play this out with your Friends in a quick game, it might be fun, you’d have to make up all your own rules though on exactly how you want to do it.

But… what about Japan? If it hasn’t been defeated?  Becomes a 3 way game?

I’ve got an extra 2 copies (In Vancouver BC) I’d like to sell, but Djensen has to finish his sale first before I’ll do anything.

You’re welcome to PM me once he’s complete though, I don’t want to see any REAL fans deprived of AA50

    • RE: How will AA42 promote a Pacific Theater?

you need to remove more fantasy happenings than Japanese tanks in Moscow.

What about the fantasy of the Axis winning?  You have to realize fantasy is the point of the game, If all you want to do is play for history, then of coure the allies will always win :P  And there is no game.

You have to keep in mind, the reason Hitler declared war on America, right after Pearl Harbor, was because he wanted Japan to declare war on Russia.

Anything that didn’t exactly happen, as it did, is Fantasy,  Just like Britian invading Berlin from an amphibious Assault, Or russians Defending China, India, or Possibly Egypt.

    • RE: How will AA42 promote a Mediterranean Theater?

The game would be better, if they just mashed 3x more units on the board, and more IPC’s

I’ve played home versions on custom maps where guys are making 200 to 300 IPC’s a turn… Dice don’t matter anymore, stacks of 30 fgt’s disappear in one round of naval combat, It’s a total BLOODBATH. It’s awesome, and I highly recommend it :D  More pieces means more excitement :P

Nomination for most worthless piece:  Russian sub!

Axis-Roll??!! !?? Are you kidding me?

Perhaps nomination for the most Annoying piece of all time, but certainly not useless,  Too many games I’ve seen have come down to clutch battles involving the russian Sub :S  Definetly not useless,  I wouldn’t trade it for 3 inf or 2 arm on R1 in any version :P (Well maybe Europe :D )

    • RE: Subs… what's the point?

The great thing about modern versions of Axis and Allies, is that there is no one “simple” way to win every single game on a certain side.

Now mixed armies, combined arms, and mobility focus, are what rule the day.

Subs are another tool in the box, To be used according to ones need, They have their very special place.

Take a look at this current game vs DM

      http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=13870.195

This is how the odd sub or two, and good management of local starting pieces and Aircraft, can Keep Japan at bay, while still focusing on the European Campaign.

    • RE: Axis and Allies 1942 Edition Fact Sheet ( AA42)

I’m always excited about new verions of AA coming out, but for only $30?

I hope everyone’s been gathering thier pieces over the years, because you all know the quality of workmanship on units is going to be garbage, like the early releases of Revised :S (Panther tanks were light grey and HALF the size, England was LIME color WTF).  Where there are JUST enough units for setup, and the rulebook says “If you run out of units, write down the unit type on a scrap piece of paper, and put it on the board.”

And are they going to stick with classic colors? or have another new shade? Blue Germans perhaps? you never know :S  I hope they atleast consider bringing back the RED Japanese pieces, those were awesome!

I would rather pay the $100 and actually have a decent quality product, for the amount of use it gets.  Even a mediocre $50-60 would be more reasonable…

    • RE: The australian navy and Russians in china

I like to load the art into the trn, and offload in NZE. try to position it in range of a jap trty like CAR, or like the others suggest, move it out to protect it.

I believe keeping the trn in the area, to threaten against jap incursions, comes in handy, it slos japan down, and provides the UK with income options that they desperately need.  let america liberate afr.
