      Now that I’ve looked at the Pacific situation, I think you can honorably accept the resignation because it looks to me like you’re on your way to victory. The entire Western front is sewn up, the Americans are exhausted, ANZAC has few ground forces, and although ANZAC has carriers and planes and the USA has 18 very controversial subs, you have unlimited Germans to transport to Australia

      Do you accept the resignation, or do you want time to ask ABH to consider continuing, with a compromise or even not?
      I don’t want to start the next round too soon anyway, I’m in two playoffs plus a slugfest.

      Great, and interesting!

      Does this mean stranded carriers off a coastline, like California or Kwangtung, would drown? That the rulebook is literal and correct? If so, WOW!!

      Also! I am unclear on whether this decision is made immediately after the battle (it IS my last combat roll anyway) or if it’s made later. I don’t see where the rulebook specified this either, so I would think it’s immediately after the end of that roll.
      That is assuming there is a choice at all. Even if fighters must actually only land on islands (I can’t imagine this is the case, but you’ve clarified stranger things before) there would definitely be a choice in the case of multinational carriers, so there must be some specific point in time a defender must decide where widowed planes land.

      The Americans have to retreat after the Japanese score 3 more hits. The Americans will retreat 1 bomber and the Japanese still have 1 fighter and the battleship.

      Play stops again because the fighter must land. I checked in the rulebook and under ā€œfightersā€ it says ā€œIMPORTANT: during combat, if a fighter is based on an aircraft carrier and the carrier is attacked and destroyed in battle, the fighter is not immediately destroyed - it is considered defending in the air (it defends at a strong die roll of 4). If it survives the battle, it must try to land on the same sea zone the battle takes place in - either on an island or another carrierā€¦ā€

      It says it has to land on an island, which would be Japan, but I’m guessing it was on oversight that often there is a coastal territory by the sea zone the fighter could land on.

      @The_Good_Captain I suspect @leemorrison wants to land on Japan and not Manchuria anyway.
      The question is, has this rule ever been officially clarified to correct it from ā€œislandsā€ to ā€œadjacent land territoryā€? I don’t see it in the rules clarification either.

      @leemorrison If you are electing for Japan anyway, then play can continue

      I’m prioritizing our 4 player game, of course, and I have a hotly contested Classic tournament game going so people waiting on my game to conclude there.

      I’m not taking on any new games until I can get one or two of these done, but then, both of my other 2 games will result in another game if I win

      The slow but steady pace over 20 months and counting kind of adds to the mystique of this game, I think. But I’m not willfully slowing it down, it’s just the 1 game I have that doesn’t have multiple people waiting on me, and as we both know, these major power turns are usually… big undertakings

      I am not sure enough about how this ends up.

      I will not record a result until I hear again from each of you whether you are resigning or accepting a resignation. Since you’ve had some days to maybe think about it, I wonder what the thoughts are now.

      I’m not in a hurry to start the next game, I’m having trouble keeping up with the 3 I have, so take your time.

      I think @Arthur-Bomber-Harris said he isn’t too interested in continuing in the playoff anyway, time constraints. That’s fine, and I can understand the resignation, but I don’t want to chalk up a loss to someone who technically won? the game.

      I won’t go on and on, I’m an outsider to the game, but I want to float the idea of a ā€œdrawā€, where @GeneralDisarray advances because ABH willingly forfeits the opportunity to advance in the playoffs, and maybe this game result isn’t recorded in the permanent standings.

      Again, I just don’t like the idea of recording a win for General D and a loss for ABH unless for example you were both to say ABH was losing the game anyway.

      It would be nice to have some kind of agreement. To me the dream scenario is you reset the battle to the point after ABH saves all subs, but the game is yours (plural)

      In case it helps you understand where I’m coming from, I WOULD be happy to conclude this and record ABH loss and General D win, IF General D, um, accepts that
