    • RE: Who do you go for as Germany?

      about Germany buying a minor: please correct me if I’m wrong, but, doesn’t the USSR have a minor IC in Ukraine in alpha+2? if I’m right, all Germany has to do is taking that IC and voilá! they got one right where they need it the most…

    • RE: Unit's cost: what's the criteria?

      @Fishmoto37:
        In our house rules we have the bombers attacking naval units at a one. Been using this rule for some time.

      Have you modified bomber’s cost or have you just leave it in 12?

    • Unit's cost: what's the criteria?

      Hi
      how are unit’s cost calculated?
      is it there a formula (attack value+defend valute+speed+hits*whatever)? or have unit’s cost just have been adjusted from time to time and nobody really knows right now?
      thanks

      (I’m considering not allowing strategic-bombers to attack naval units as a house rule but I guess then I should modify their value somehow)

      I know I’m looking really stupid by asking this but, wtf, I get lost with all those acronyms… so does DEI means?

    • RE: Cruisers Class?

      @CWO:

      @Black:

      I’m not sure I would call them heavy though (standard displacement 10,400; 8 inch main guns)

      A cruiser with 8" guns is considered a heavy cruiser.  Light cruisers carry 6" guns.

      since you seem to know about this stuff  :-D …

      can you please tell me what are the main characteristics a WW2 fighting-ship had to have in order to fell in each category? (roughtly speaking… destroyers; light, heavy and battle-cruisers, battleship, and so? (I think I can figure out why aicraft carriers and submarines are called that way  :wink: )

      thanks everybody about the feedback!  :-D

    • Historical Accuracy: British Bombers and Ukranie IC in Alpha2+

      Cheers,
      I know this is a game and playability is important (probably more important than historical accuracy), having say that:

      Shoudn’t UK have at least a Strategic Bomber? (RAF had them in 1940, actually had more and better bombers than the Luftwaffe, which had no real strategic bombers)

      What is the goal of the new USSR IC in Ukraine? Helping the Germans (it’s prety obvious that Ukraine will fall to the Reich as soon as the Werchmatch attacks the USSR)? I agree the USSR did have factories in Ukraine, but they moved far east during the war. Woudn’t be a good cool idea for the Soviets to be able to do something of sorts? Maybe allowing the USSR to move just one of her minor IC to the Urals to represent Tankograd?

      Straight from Larry - on his site.

      Thanks Gamerman. I’ve seen that one (and the game-aids developed by users)  :-)
      I was wondering if this have been put all together in a new game manual though

      additionally: is something like this for Alpha2 pacific and europe in adition to global?

      thanks in advance

    • RE: Alpha-2 Rulebook and set-up charts?

      PS: I’m also a little bit confused about this: is alpha2 only for Global? I’ve seen some posts about Alpha2 Europe and Pacific but I coundn’t figure out if is there a final version or just a developing project. Are there rule-books for those too?

    • Alpha-2 Rulebook and set-up charts?

      Hi

      is there some place where I can download Alpha-2 rules and it’s new set-up charts?

      I know there are ‘aids’ made by users, and posts, here and there, and I’ve downloaded some if not all of them… although they are great I’ve seen some times they have mistakes (I know because users who posted them later post some corrected updates), and I also have to go trying to figure out that the final Alpha-2 rules are by checking out post about ‘what’s new and wha’t different’… so I was wondering if there is an official Alpha-2 Rule-book and set up charts. Are they?

      thanks!

    • US Income in Alpha + 2 Question

      I may be a little slow.
      Can someone please tell me if I’m right about US income in Alpha + 2 Global

      While not at war the US collects 52 ipc
      When at war the US collects 52 ipc (if controlling all its original territories) plus NOs that could rise its income to 82 ipc? (if all NOs are accomplished)

      Am I right?

      (if yes, holly milky cow!)

    • RE: Carrier movements

      @bladewar:

      the question is whether the carrier moves such as 3 combat space motion supporting an amphibious assault (by leaving port) can then launch the ship’s aircraft attacking the territory by the normal movements that are supposed to have the plane (4 ) or otherwise would be left with a single movement of the aircraft making it impossible to use them and then another movement that would need to land it

      I think fighters (or Tactic Bombers) have movenment factor of 4, and that’s independent of the Carrier’s movenment. So I would say that no, you can not use them to attack Gibraltar. The only exception is when airplanes take over from an Air Base (+1 movenment), but since that’s not the case you’re describing, I say that you can’t have an extra movement (the Carrier had it because she started her movement in a Naval Base, but those afect only ships)

    • RE: How is the balance with the new Alpha 2 changes? Please give your view.

      @Funcioneta:

      The problem is always the same: the rule that prevents powers without capital from building new units. Without it, it would be still very bad losing the capital but at least the loser would have a chance. It’s totally ricudulous in case of UK: if Canada and Australia are at war with Germany still (they don’t become neutrals), why they cannot build units?

      absolutelly agree!

      (I’m not totally sure, but the USSR may should have an eastern factory (tankograd) to keep fighting)

    • RE: What are the soviet subs usefull for?

      @Sire:

      @Gallo:

      @Funcioneta:

      Also, one pool option is wrong! There is was not Castro in Cuba in the 40s, but Batista!  :-D So, unless that the game lasts until early 60s (like round 50?  :lol: ), no chance of uncle Joe to hide in La Habana.

      I know, but since the poll was just for fun I decided to go for the funny but historically inacurate rather than for… well, for whatever the oposite is ;)

      Other options for Stalin to hide? Mexico? Unlikely since Trotsky had already been there?

      Trotsky have been killed by a Soviet agent sent by Staline in 1940. So the place would be ready to receive Old Joseph in his Soviet sub.

      I know that. That’s why I said that “Trotsky had been” there and not that he was there (he had been there, then we was killed, he wasn’t there anymore) :)

      cool Capt Harlock’s avatar btw :)

      @Gargantua:

      1 to 1 is an acceptable Russian Ratio.

      1 to 10 was acceptable to Stalin!

      as long as he had 11 guys… (quantity has a quality of its own)
