    • RE: Where to place Bid Builds?

The 2 USSR fighters in England is annonying … for USSR. It avoids any useful fighting in R1 (cannot hit west russia) and maybe even R2. And lets Caucasus almost undefended in R1 if you do Ucrania attack. Anyway, long range tech would still work, and i would happyly trade german fighters for soviet fighters plus 30 IPCs for conquering England.

And a trannie in Med. sea means, as i said, a race german vs japan for conquering India, even with IC

So, no bid greater than 7 for me. 9 is scary, lets german transport and 1 IPC for IPC+2 trans combo for Japan.

You could even buy a sub on sz8, try long range and volatilice the 2nd british battleship  :-o

    • RE: Where to place Bid Builds?

I think biding 8 or more is too risky. A tranny in baltic sea can mean a G1 sea lion even without tech … with long range tech, is G1 axis conquer England, Allies can’t retake, axis victory. Even with LHrules still can buy a trannie in Mediterranean Sea, so África is lost fast anyway. So i never would bid more than 7.

Bid of 6 or 7? Germany gets two units in África. If Japan don’t go haste, it could mean Germans in India  :-o

Bid of 4-5. It means one unit bid in Libia or Ucrania, PLUS 1 IPC to Japan for 2 trannies, 1 IC in J1. Too powerful.

I think any bid greater than 3 is too advantage for axis

    • RE: Nominations for A&A Europe Strategies

You still can put 4 inf in Tunisia, but British could put a couple too (at least two are needed in Leningrad). África is tricky, remember USSR can send a couple units too by Iran and still resist German attack in her homelands.

I would say keep the changes I.L. said plus submarines (but keeping you need a destroyer for hitting them with aircraft)

Sorry, i dont speak Portuguese. We should speak English or Spanish or would be difficult playing.

Lo siento mucho, no hablo portugués. Mejor hablemos en inglés o en español.

Coon está enfrascado en otras partidas. En principio seriamos dos, y yo soy nuevo jugando por correo, aunque tengo bastante experiencia jugando cara a cara.

      Podemos usar AbattleMap.

      Saludos

    • RE: More activity in pacific?

In fact, China has 4 territories: Sinkiang, China, Kwantung and Manchuria. I don’t like China in A&A. Should be another power, have more territories or a starting IC. It is a shame that in many games China is easily conquered by Japan, when in real life they resisted Japan for 8 years, the first 4 by alone and even when they were divided in Kuomingtan and Communists! A very good reason for doing KJF is saving the chineses and retake their home territories from japanese invaders  :-D

I played against this. Is a pain in the ass. The very first time i go for KGF and the guy buyed a Brazilian IC and began disturbing my Atlantic allied fleet  :-P

Simply play more KJF or use a balanced strategy … or play Guadalcanal

    • RE: Any good tech stories out there?

Mmmm… I play only with faq, not LH rules. Never played classic. You are true, tech is weaker now, and less luck dependant than classic, but should be cheaper (still cost 5 IPCs) and safer (so a failed tech could give you a bonus or else).

Think rockets are still overpowered for Germany: about 7 IPCs less for USSR, and 3-4 for UK in a round. Ouch!

      @Lucifer:

It’s not an good idea to contain Jap from LA.

Not only from LA, sure. Its LA only first turn, then Sinkiang, Calcutta and Siberian units plus Pacific Fleet stealing juicy 4 IPC islands

    • RE: Balanced Strategy

How Axis can concentrate on one lone allied power? They can not cooperate in early and mid game, only maybe in later game, usually because no one tried stop the japaneses.

      Example:

Axis can try attack USSR and only USSR. But with balanced strategy, Japan must defeat chinese and indian IC first and must face the menacing USA fleet or they lose valuable islands as Java, Borneo and such.

Against UK? Well, Germany can’t ignore USSR forces trying conquest Germany’s terrain. And Japan still can’t ignore that Pacific fleet.

Against USA? I don’t know how both Axis powers could strike only USA with UK sinking german ships, USSR beating German soldiers… and Japan couldn’t ignore indian IC or Siberian USSR or they could lose Asian mainland trying conquering West USA.

Easier than KGF or KJF? Sure not. Alternative strategy? I think could work.

    • RE: LHTR 1.3 vs LHTR 2.0

      About Russian Winter:

The game says it starts in Spring 1942. I think a game turn means about 3 months, so Russian Winter could be as in the original, but not by players choice. Make Russian Winter in 4th turn, and then, each 4 turns.

    • Balanced Strategy

Many people say KGF is better, second KJF. But why none tries the balanced approach?. I suggest IC at Sinkiang, India, USA AC, 1 inf and transport in west USA first turn. Soviets send Siberian units to Yakut or Sinkiang, buying 1 inf each turn for east front. Turn 2 and latter, UK and USA build inf in their asian IC and maybe USA some extra vessel for Pacific, but all other IPCS goings after Germany. USA must annoy japaneses capturing some islands and IC plus token USSR forces can stand against Japan in mainland.

Of course, this force building the chain of transports for Europe a couple of turns after, but you had stopped the Japaneses from conquering all Asia without opposition and going after USSR anyway.

      Just an idea …

    • RE: End of Round Victory

I prefer VC. It forces you focus in some cities you would not defend in total conquest. And it’s good have a sudden death effect in game, because it forces you keep an eye on all the table. Anyway, you can say: “let’s play 9 VC, but you can surrender before if you think you lost”.

I have seen USA goning for island hoping more than once. I even seen UK. Manila is an example of good choosed VC, as Leningrad.

Only trouble is i would like more VC, so they would have greater effect in the game. Example:

      USSR: Moscow, Stalingrad, Leningrad, Vladivostok
Germany: Berlin, Rome, Paris, Helsinki, Varsovia, Tripoli
      UK: London, Calcutta, Canberra, Alexandria
Japan: Tokio, Nankin, Manila, Singapur, Seoul, Port Moresby
USA: Whasington, Los Angeles, Chongquin, Honolulu

So each side begins with 12. Fight for 18!

Sure, if you are willing to use TripleA.

OK, but could you explain me TripleA? I only have ABattle Map and not played by e-mail yet (only face to face). I think needs Java … should i install this Java stuff or goes with Windows?

    • RE: Siberian Units

I played another game with USSR/USA. This time, british player not buyed India IC, so i didn’t buy Sinkiang IC. I send siberian units to Novo, and they still contain japaneses. I have a big soviet stack of inf/tanks in Ucranie facing a similar german stack in Belorussia. German mediterranean fleet is destroyed, and western allies landed in France with 14 units! So i think this time Germany will be crushed. Siberian units buyed time stopping japaneses so Caucasus/Rusia IC units could go all against germans.

I think siberian units are better defending central path in Novo or Sinkiang than doing nothing in Yakut or travelling to Ucraine and losing a lot of time to arrive.
