    • RE: What's the consensus on a standard bid?

Jen, 1 sub to Canada tra, 1 sub plus figs to z13 BB, and you lost a USSR fig with your nor attack

Bean: I’d buy a fighter instead the usual AC. Remember, no USSR sub, no UK BB, 1 tra less. UK must now buy an ac (thus saving baltic fleet) and stacking at z8 with USA, saving algeria/nor,  or lose the LAST UK tra AND american fleet if they try algeria. I’d try 3 figs, 1 bomb against 3 tra, 1 des any day.

Germany can live with one fig less. Can UK live without 2 BB, 1 tra, 1 USSR sub? Sure, but it would be more difficult.

Pretty bad rolls for ger?  :-P As average, you should lose 1 or 2 figs (one on z1, other in z13). The fig in ukr is the classic R1, and I would like you try Nor, Wru and Ukr at the same R1

Anyway, if USSR tries nor, the damage is done, and you can still hit Canada tra and z13 BB with subs

    • RE: Another look at the SAF IC

Good analisys. I would put the UK fig in eng instead wru for extra defense and because maybe USSR have to exit from wrus (thus giving the UK fig for free), but in general it’s a solid strategy. The indians to Kenya is new for me, but could work.

The good of Safr IC is that UK only must spend 6-10 ipcs for fighting in Africa and the rest could be used in Europe, and the possible threat for Japan is interesting (combinated of course with Pacific builds for USA)

    • RE: What's the consensus on a standard bid?

A 76% of chance of killing all alied ships with only 1 bomb and maybe a fig is a very good deal for Germany. Remember that if things go bad, you still can retreat, so you only risk badly the subs.

The chances are you’ll get 2 hits in firs round and allies 1 hit. 2nd round 1 or two for you, 1 for allies. Then BB is in a ugly situation.

It can screw totally the UK position at Atlantic at a 76 %. The people banned instant tech only for Sea Lion G1 , that has less % of success  :-P

And if USSR make the Nor conquest move, better, it’s a USSR fig and armor killed and you still can go for z1 tra and z13 BB with the other sub  :-D

You can send the BB and tra for egy still and kill the BB at Gibraltar with 3 figs

    • RE: UK Basics

I think you should comment something about IC builds.

An India IC needs going for z59 and landing all possible reinforcments at India (thus not attacking Egypt). Also need a IC at Sinkiang plus siberian forces to survive.

Unification fleet is good if you want an Australia IC. Then you should not attack z59.

IC at Safr is good if you cannot send reinforcements to Africa and germans cannot conquer Safr in a couple of turns

All should be purchased on UK 1 … or Colonial Garrison, of course  :-D

I still think bids greater than 7 give too much advantage for Axis. Sub at z8 kills both UK BB, thus destroing any allied chains of reinforcements for at least 3 turns. I tried that bid and it rocks. Too much powerfull.

    • RE: What is BID?

In fact, in Revised, the game is not unbalanced anyway IF you play 4 or 5 players game. With 2 or 3 players, the allied player gets best coordinating thus is a bit unbalanced (only a bit and ony if you go for obsesive KGF)

It’s winter, so winter should come each year  :-D 3 month turns, starting Spring’ 42 mean first winter at R4, then R8, etc.

The only real unusable is salvage. I think best are lend-lease, pact and maybe movile industry

    • RE: Nintendo DS

Strategy games: Advance Wars DS, Age of Empires (I played both) and soon will coming Panzer Tactics and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. A pity that Europa Universalis II was canceled

Another stragegy games, but I didn’t play them: Sim City, Anno 1714 …

And for a DBZ fan as me, DBZ Goku Densetsu. A RPG game with strange card sistem, but you can revive DBZ history from Raditz to Cell (even the dreaded Serpent Way)  :-D Beware of Freezer Special Forces. They are hard as a rock.

      @Gewehr:

Has anyone tried to play as Turkey?

I did, conquered Syria and Lybanon, then joined Comintern. When allies dowed USSR, I conquered Middle East and North Africa. Then, I invaded Japan by parachuting from Vladyvostok. A very hard way of invading Japan  :-P

    • RE: Noob needs help #2

Oob says that you roll a die, and that each bomber cannot do more ipc damage than production of territory. Maybe the explanation is confusing, but I would not say you must lose the max ipcs. I never played losing max ipcs in 2 years of face to face, and my mother language is spanish, so I suppose OOb are ok in that point. Anyway, a bit of logic says that even as confusing the sentence is, if you roll a die, that die must be used for determinig  the loss of ipc.

Oob rules, however, are wrong in rocket attacks, because they have a picture showing the Russia AA gun attacking Germany’s IC. This made me confusing until I read the FAQ, saying the picture was wrong. If I remember right, this is the only “big” mistake of rules.

Nah, try Republican Spain and join the allies. You must do the D Day, liberating Norway and race for Berlin all yourself. UK and USA will not send any troops for aiding, maybe a couple of aircraft  :-P If you do not do well, USSR will beat you not only in race for Berlin, also in race for Paris. And joy the pleasures of defending Spain of ravaging axis hordes if Vichy not forms  :-o

Commie China is not better. Sure, you can survive from Japan, as Switzerland sure will survive in most of the games. But try expand or join an alliance. The events are against you and in favor of Kuomingtan. Unified front? Forget keeping Manchuria for you, it will be for uncle Chiang. And is easier, very easier, join Japan alliance than Commintern  :? But sure, if you join Japan, USSR and USA will come for poor old Mao.

    • RE: Hazard Flashers Don't Create Parking Spaces!

Great analysis, Jen. Anyway, we europeans also have that trouble. Try parking in Seville or Cordoba (Spain), most times corners are occupied, double alinegment or so. Worse that, lots of times you park well and then comes a guy who parks behind you, so you can’t exit!  :x So you have to push the damned ship (yes, a ship, because most Andalucia vehicles are veeeery big). And try doing it at 50ºC in summer  :-P
