      Pals, better end the sex-war debate  :-P All wars are bad (saving wars with plastic pieces , of course), but war of the sexes (spelling?) is the worst war of all  :cry:

    • RE: Ron Paul

      Why do we have bases and troops in Germany, Japan, etc?  To project US strength and to remind the world that we are in the business of protecting our interests plain and simple.  Having a permanent base(s) in Iraq is doing just that.

      I don’t think Germany or Japan want attack USA in the near future … Iraq is another issue, of course…

      @Cmdr:

      I don’t think the new nation of the European Union will be our ally much longer.  They may not become our enemy, but I do not think we can trust them.  (And yes, I do believe they will become one nation and lose their individual identities.)

      I’m european, and I don’t think European Union will be one nation. European Union is only about money, not political union. They tried make a european constitution, made referendum in only about half of countries and France and Low Countries voted no (wisely, the text was horrible). And think in Belgium, they are near to split the country in 2, they are not going to join again in a bigger.

      And many europeans think we can not trust in USA’s government…

      @Jermofoot:

      Support for social programs does not a socialist make.

      Totally agree. A good and simple explanation.  :-)

      @Cmdr:

      AFAIK she’s a socialist/communist. (Communist in the mold of China and the Soviet Union; socialist in the mold of the actual definition.)

      Ugh, now is a communist!  :-P I don’t think she want make the revolution or ban the private property. She is capitalist. As much, she could be socialdemocrat, but she is not near of any socialdemocrat european party in ideology. She is not Shroeder (spelling?), Segolene Royale or Zapatero and sure she is not Chavez, Morales or Jiang Zemin (spelling again?)

      I think no one who has socialist or communist ideology can win the USA presidential election. If Rodman were socialist, Obama would win the primaries with no work (of course, if Obama would be socialist too, Mc Cain would have a walk in the park).

      14 units G1… scary  :-o

      Even with half bid you can try things as 2 inf to ger, 1 ipc to japan, 5 ipcs to ger (that lets you, say ac, 1 armor, 8 inf G1, or 2 figs, 8 inf … pretty huge boost to axis anyway).

      Of course, bid system changes the … bid…  :-)

      @Cmdr:

      Nah, bids are going up lately.  I’ve been winning a lot of AAR bids at 12 IPC which makes me wonder what my opponents are bidding.

      Ugh!  :-o Wining bids with 12?  :-o It lets you sub at z8 plus 1 inf at lyb (or ukr) and 1 ipc to japan (for buying IC+2 tra). What bid the opponent? 13?  :-o

      Sure there are more wicked combos with 12 ipc bid, but that knowlegde is too dangerous for human mind. Better if keeps unknown  8-)

      Edit: hope no one is planning bid 16 or more. 2 trannies at baltic?  :-o

      Yea, the old trick (armor to alg, inf to lyb). 1 unit for territory limit don’t do much at Africa (is better at Ukrania, of course)

      Still  I think 8 bid is tempting the luck and 9 almost suicide against competent axis player… too many sneaky plays for axis…

      I like conquer the Suez Channel for Axis and send the italian BB and tra to the Indian ocean when the things get ugly. You can conquer Mad and South Africa, keeping in the 40 ipcs some turns. A time I even conquer NZel with the italian navy  :-o

      Save that, you cannot do nothing against obsessive american landings at Algeria save stacking japaneses at Persia

      @Bean:

      I’m hoping I face someone who tries that some day, all I’ve got is theories to counter it without experience. Would you care to try it against me Mattpun in a test game? I don’t take Axis at less than 9 IPCs.

      Sorry pal, 9 bid is too much advantage for Axis. Even with KGF. It would prove nothing.

      Solomons are good if you pursue Dutch East Indies. They are in the way anyway, and you kill a Japanese inf.

      It’s not too difficult being better than Hasbro CD’s IA. I beaten the game as Japan in the Cold War modified scenario. 14 ipcs for starting production! :-P

    • RE: CHEATING

      Yea, the infamous hidden units cheat  :-P It’s a trouble of Batlemap, some times the units and numbers are one over the other, creating a mess  :-P Often it’s only a bad habit, but If you trust your rival and then you discover it’s cheating, It’s gets you feel mad.

      Any player should order it’s units so them see well and without confusion. Karma +1 for you in solidarity  :wink:

    • RE: IC in Western Europe on G1 !

      Western Europe IC is not a good idea for Germany. You want troops? Deploy them at Germany/South Europa and send them the next turn. Want ships? The same. It’s 15 ipcs less for no purpose, and if you continue building ships, the USSR could reach Eastern Europe by alone. Allies must buy only a couple of AC and then play as usual. And if Germany continues buying ships… well, It’s a new red world.

      It’s even worst than the Ukranian IC my pal likes play at face to face  :-P At least, if USSR captures the Ukranian IC and hold, It’s not a huge advantage, but if USA takes and hold the France IC, It’s game over.

    • RE: Another look at the SAF IC

      I disagree with East Canada better than South Africa. Canada still needs trannies for being usable, SAf not. If Japan is not careful, Saf complex can mean armors runing to Caucasus…

      Of course, Norway is OK, but better with the USA.
