      @Jennifer:

      Just some clarification. I think you might be a bit confused. Women, and girls, do like to receive compliments, even in today’s liberated environment.

      Not saying women don’t.

      I just think a compliment particularly about her appearance shouldn’t be the first thing out of your non drool filled mouth. Ease into it. Also saying nice things about her appearance is easy and everyone does it.

      You might try something like “Jennifer, you play Axis and Allies well. Right up there with the best players I’ve seen. I also enjoy when you trash talk your opponents. Always well done.”

      I don’t know. That or “Nice rack.”

    • RE: Jennifer's Icon

      Well losing the virtual drool is a start. Your first reaction if she were plain would not to be to tell her she was plain would it? Why should your first reaction if she is pretty be to tell her she is pretty? If she thinks she is pretty she doesn’t need you to tell her. If she doesn’t think she is pretty she will think you are just trying to get up her skirts.

      @trihero:

      So maybe I should initially have said something like “not bad, but I’ve seen better” in order to pretend that I’ve seen a pretty girl before? :-P

      Acting like you’ve seen a pretty girl is to not say anything. It is to not fall all over yourself trying to get her attention. She may think it is cute but more likely she won’t.

      But then I could be wrong. Avoiding the certain paths to defeat as opposed to the uncertain paths to victory is the way I usually lean.

    • Limits on Infantry Builds

      Hi, I was reading here a week or so ago a discussion on limits to infantry. Someone had asked thinking similar to what I do that some sort of limits might speed up the game. I can’t seem to find the topic to see where the discussion ended up going.

      Now I’m not really concerend so much from a real world  or historical aspect- just from a keep things moving aspect.

      1. Does anyone have experience with limits (simple and the same for everyone) on the numbers of INF a nation can build (other than its number of IPCs for you smarty pants out there?)

      2. Has anyone given any research to the idea of requiring a variety of units be built dependent on a nations income? If you have 40 IPCs you are required say 3 different types of units. Less IPCs less required variety, so a poor nation or a nation on the ropes can go for numbers if it has to.

      Just looking for an easy and fair way to avoid 20 high stacks of INF.

      @Jennifer:

      I have to admit my “sisters” don’t know what they’re missing. Shopping spends money….gaming doesn’t and both are good activities in inclimate weather…

      As to spending money I guess you haven’t seen my bills from my days playing CCGs and if the Star Trek CCG ever gets its new sets out…

      The inclimate weather thing though. I love a rainy saturday, I don’t feel like I’m “missing” something by not being outside.

      Regardless of the number of pretty girls you have  :-o or haven’t seen  :cry: and what they do or not do always  "act like you’ve seen a pretty girl before."  :wink: 8-)

    • RE: Does it actually matter?

      Coke products over pepsi products although I love A&W Root Beer both regular and diet and I think that is a pepsi product.

      Volkswagen.

      And I have to agree with Switch. The married/unmaried, retired/working, kids/no kids is the biggest divider. I have being single and working more friends who are single and working. And no kids most of the way around.

      I will say what I often say amongst men whose hobbies rarely include women, “Act like you’ve seen a pretty girl before.”

    • RE: HELP am i missing pieces

      That doesn’t seem right. But as long as you have 3 sets of Infantry, tanks, guns, ships and planes and then 2 other than those 3 colors of just infantry for US Marines and Chinese Infantry you are good to go.

    • RE: HELP am i missing pieces

      The brown pieces are China national pieces. You get up to three of those on the US turn dependent on whether the Burma road and the Chinese territories are allied controlled. There are no brown tanks, guns, ships or planes. There are only infantry pieces which is all that China can produce.

      Your game should have Red Infantry, Tanks, Guns, Ships and planes. These are the Japanese pieces.

      There are also some green pieces that do not match the color of the green tanks, guns etc. These are the US marine pieces. I think the marines are a good deal in Pacific.

      I hope that clears things up. Enjoy the game. I am very fond of this version of Axis and Allies.

      Feel free to post any other questions.

    • RE: ???What are the some of the most deceiving rules in the game? Click here.

      The rule we have had the most difficulty with is the opening fire step in every round of combat. Particularly naval combats involving subs. Every round that a sub is on the board and a DD isn’t for either side is a chance for a ship to go down without getting a chance to swing back. It took us ahwile to get that thru our heads.

      The new FTRs on New ACs and old FTRs on new ACs but no new FTRs on old ACs in the out of box rules can get missed.

      I don’t know about that. I just know I like getting cool new games. I would have to make everything myself, grow everything myself if it weren’t for nasty corportations.

    • RE: Release date

      I don’t think Hasbro sucks. I like the Axis and Allies games. I think they are fairly priced and well-produced. Not without problems but if you haven’t checked out what is in and what some of the other strategic wargames cost you might want to back off on the stone throwing. These games are nice. Be glad Hasbro bought Avalon Hill or there would be no new A&A games.

    • RE: Cherbourg: A lost cause for Germany?

      I don’t usually send more troops into Cherbourg. If the dice are with me and I get lots of Allied casualties I don’t out and out abandon it. I often abandon it though. I try to keep the US from flanking St. Lo or bottle them up on the beacheads. I dig in if the US turns on it first thing off the beach. As a rule though I don’t reinforce it from the charts or send units on the St. Lo side of the line running between Utah and Omaha to Cherborg.

    • RE: What nation do you like the least

      Not a big fan of Japan. All the logistics of the US, all the ground maneuvering and stacking of Russia and Germany. And keeping track of where all those FTRs need to be and go on top of that. I can’t drink all the beer I’d like when playing Japan.

      A UK IC in India becomes a Japan IC in India, US boats in the Pacific or not.

      10 IPCs of a FTR for 14 IPCs of TRN with 2 INF? If just one INF on the TRN it is still 11 IPCs. If the TRNs are unloaded you don’t need to go after the fleet do you?

    • RE: Can the US have naval superiority?

      My personal experience is that a US Pac fleet is a bad idea. It is a worse idea if you don’t get any hits at Pearl. It is a less bad idea if Japan ignores Pearl and leaves that FTR and AC and sub that is because the competition isn’t up to snuff or is trying something new for the heck of it. Perhaps it was my executions of the plan. But to me you need a lot of TRNs to effectively take islands and TRNs need cover. And there is a lot of ocean.

      A US Pac Fleet is easily countered even with below the averages dice because all you have to do is kill the US TRNs to make the whole fleet impotent except to go after Japan’s heavily defended TRNs.

      Can the US have Naval superiority in the Pacific? Yes, buy lots of boats.
      Can the US have effective Naval superiority in the Pacific? I don’t think so.

    • RE: Playing Minor Victory - Allies have no chance

      I understand that starting with a IC in India is the colonial garrison NA. I am not talking of using NAs. I mean straight out spot the UK the IC in India to start the game. No other NAs or tech. If you just want to play to play any game is playable. If you want to have an even match each side having an even chance to win…

    • RE: Playing Minor Victory - Allies have no chance

      Has anyone tried playing 8VC with the India getting a complex to start the game? I don’t mean a UK turn 1 build but a sort of “bid” to play the Allies. Also what would a minimum number of turns do to an 8 VC game? Instead of Switch’s scenario with only two there has to be at least 4? Also making the other Russian VC Stalingrad (Cauc) instead of Leningrad?

      I have never tried it? Any thoughts?

    • RE: 3 Players: 1 Axis and 2 Allies possible?

      I wouldn’t recommend splitting 2 Allies and 1 Axis. Give your strongest player the Allies. The Allies must be very coordinated while the Axis don’t require that quite as much. It is also a bit more fun that way as it keeps the pace up a bit.
