I would not be inclined to do all three battles on the E. front as Russia. Losing 5 units in WRU is a blow enough just when doing two and I remember a few games where I didn’t take WRU on R1 trying to do Belo, UKR and WRU and having serious troubles from then on out.

This talks about the 8VC and India IC. You need to go at least three pages back for any other India IC threads.

RE: Colonial Garrison & IIC still a dumb idea right ?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
That depends on how many VCs you are playing. If only 8 take the IC for UK and go KJF. As a NA i.e. not having to pony up for it. It isn’t as bad an option as buying it in a 10 VC game. You have the 15 to buy a FTR and an ARM and INF to back it up on UK1 plus some units for the Atlantic. But remember you will have to buy 3 units a turn for India to keep it a UK complex.
This comes up a bunch and there are many more learned opinions on this than mine. Switch talked about this in the 8VCs thread. I’ll try to post the link.
Generally speaking an UK India complex becomes a Japan India complex.

RE: Techposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Generally speaking I don’t roll weapons development. If we are just “playing it out” sure but I think IPCs are better spent on units.
Generally:
If you don’t have Bombers don’t roll for Hvy BMBrs
If you don’t have subs don’t roll for super subs.
et al.Remember you are buying a chance at improved weapons instead of an ARM. Bird in hand an all that.
On the other hand what the heck? Do you feel lucky?

That is far more impressive than the de-clawed cat of my youth chasing the dog of my youth (who was twice her size) about the house.
That is a cat with serious attitude.

I make my own beer. I hope to try a mead again soon.
As to beer and food try “The Brewmaster’s Table.”

Looks very cool. Set up on the map like D-Day, hexes to cross over with minis. Do you think there will there be a stack limit?
I don’t think I like the baby blue box colors. I supposed it is supposed to be “cold.” Maybe it looks better in the flesh? They did say it wasn’t done though. I get a feeling this is the one I’ve been “waiting for.” 3-4 hours. Good afternoon of gaming but not overly long.

One of them even questions the need of a husband, she says that once she gets the guys genetic seed he serves no purpose any longer….I tend to agree - some days.
Ahh yes, “A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.”

RE: Sub attacking Battleshipposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Subs always shoot in opening fire and unless there is a DD for your side anything that would “sink” from the hits scored by the subs doesn’t get to shoot back. 2 subs getting two hits could sink the BB before it could fire back. You always need two hits to sink a BB no matter when they are applied.
Also note there is opening fire in every round of combat. Every round your subs have a shot at sinking something that won’t get to shoot back (unless an enemy DD is present.)

Well I will have my retailer order me one copy.
I want to hear more about these combat strips. Doesn’t sound like the A&A we are used to.

RE: Aggressive Allied Strategyposted in Axis & Allies: D-Day
Did you take into consideration that the Naval Bombardment can only target the pillboxes?
But I would agree that a march on St. Lo from the outset is a good policy. And clearing the Omaha beachead is certainly the first step in that.
I would think that you could get yourself in trouble simply getting to Cherbourg if you do this. If your opponent is in the habit of abandoning it he can bog you down pretty good around Utah. You might try encircling St. Lo from the Cherbourg side while concentrating your Ftrs in those reinforcement zones. That might force the Germans in on the Caen side and bring them in range of the British overrunning that city faster leaving less for the US to root out of St. Lo. Not march on St. Lo per se but march on the reinforcement zones on that side of the board. Overrun it with your tanks.
I certainly agree that clearing the Omaha beachhead is a no. 1 priority.

I like the LHTR rules much better. I also like no tech better. Just end the chance that that stack of FTRs in WEU is going to be able to sink your “safe” TRNs in SZ2.

I have read it the same as switch. Per SBR per territory. I think it goes nicely with the unit build limits per territory.

RE: How many ships do purchase as Germany in a typical game?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
In straight from the box rules Heavy Bombers still rule the battlefield. The only time I rolled for them and got to use them I hit with four of every six dice to hit the table over four rounds in a final assault on Germany. The LHTR puts 'em more in line. But there are few times when 3 bombers become 6 for less than 45 (I pumped 40 into the tech roll) and you get to use them right now when the playing field doesn’t change.

That strat was not my first choice. Ezto was very behind it and I decided I would go along. Not that I made the best decisions on turn two and three. I thought there was more room for error than there seems to be. I need more practice. I also have some things that work in my limited group of players that aren’t flying here. And a few bad habits I need to let go of. Live and learn eh?

@ncscswitch:
When I buy a carrier for the baltic the main purpose is secure the northern flank & prevent allied landings in E. Europe. It also has the advantage of keeping any lightly defended allied fleets out of the English Channel & North sea.
And that is usually enough to secure Berlin and Eastern from any attmpted amphibs until at least Turn 4 in most cases.
UK starts landing wherever it pelases in UK 2 if you do not reinforce the Baltic Fleet…
I can certainly attest to that. Or if you take the fleet out of the Baltic too soon. Dumb, Dumb knowed it was dumb but got myself talked into it anyway. Then there were the bad decisions turn two…

RE: Question on 2 rule technicalitiesposted in Axis & Allies: D-Day
According to the FAQ from Avalon Hill you must declare your moves before the units are strafed and the move must be legal assuming no loses to strafing.
We have always played that the city has to be clear of the Axis at the begining and end of the turn. Moving a unit in during the turn doesn’t change control. Control is in step five of combat. The Axis move is after the Allies move. The Axis would move into the Allied controlled city. Combat would occur and if there are no Axis units left control would stay with the Allies. That isn’t in the FAQ.

Hope that helps.

RE: Jennifer's Iconposted in General Discussion
I fear I am being misunderstood.
I am not advocating a general policy of not complimenting women on their brains, charm or appearance.
I am advocating that a gentleman be mindful of the manner he uses to compliment. At the very least he should pause, and count to five before letting the first thing that comes to mind come out of his mouth at the first oppurtunity. How you compliment is as important as that you do isn’t it?
I am suggesting that if men (I include myself here) who played Axis and Allies took the prescence of a knowledgable and beautiful woman player more in stride we might decrease its rarity. We might then be fortunate enough to enjoy the company of more smart, charming women who play a terrific game of A&A and who undoubtedly look wonderful in renaisance garb.

RE: Transort Questionposted in Player Help
Sometimes you only have one unit to move to somewhere else SSG Rock.
If you have 10 ARM and want to transport them all on the same turn you will require 10 transports. You may load those 10 TRN with 10 INF as well but as mentioned you are not required to do so.
