Russia had stopped trying to recover in north central Russia for so long, that the troops and their weapons were rusty. It was like 5-6 rounds before either side got a hit. And the offense was fighting with muskets from the Napoleonic war. -

@Private-Panic That was an exciting battle in Greece. You had 55% odds, and it was close. Round 2 was in your favor, but round 3 strongly in my favor.
I suppose you were frustrated by not getting the tech again and just went for it. No boffins for you. I feel for you but am glad the good guys won. Although, you are still in good position to try again. -

@simon-tressel I know what you mean about being G in prior games and not getting the tech I wanted. It makes a big diff, often a game changer. If you want tech, play the Communists, they tend to get tech with just one or two dice, or so it seems. In one team game, they bought one dice, got science, and then kept getting tech every other turn, without buying more dice.
As to the strafe, I had about 10% more defensive power than your offense, so you needed luck just to breakeven.
