@shadowhawk If the Japanese tt can’t prevent U.S. tt from moving into sz6, then the U.S. tt also doesn’t prevent Japanese tt from leaving sz6 during combat move. Only a warship would prevent loading.

Attacked Austrian controlled Tuscany for one round just to weaken him disproportionately to prevent him taking Pied. Battle odds were he would lose 8 inf and I would lose only 4 inf. Austria rolled above average, but he still lost more. Since his inf were supported by artillery, he would lose attack of 2, same as my defenders. More importantly, most Austrian infantry were in Tusc, while artillery were in Milan. So remaining army is mostly artillery, with few grunts to take hits. Same for Austrian builds in Venice and Trieste. I forgot to take amphib artillery as a hit, so it went second round. Finally got tech which helps defense.

Congrats on China being able to open up the Burma road, gaining a 3 point N.O. and being able to build artillery. I haven’t planned a game in recent memory when China was able to build artillery, woohoo. My aunt was a nurse in the India theater during WWII. Pity I never asked her about her experience there while she was alive.

    • Make paratrooper unit standard in 1940 Global Bal Mod

I propose adding paratroopers as standard units to Global 1940 Bal Mod, just like marines and not as tech R&D. Paratroopers are specially trained units, like marines, but didn’t require advanced R&D to develop in real life. The Germans invaded Crete with paratroopers in May 1941. Paratrooper units would be more universally playable than marines, which are only useful for a few countries, such as Italy in the Med and Japan and the U.S. in the Pacific. 1940 BM adds more National Objectives related to the Med islands. If UK or Italy controls the Med, its hard for the other power to break in. Paratroopers would be very useful in contesting the Med. But paratroopers could also be used in land-based campaigns and in Sea Lion. This could have a significant effect on regular game play. Has anyone used paratroopers in games using R&D tech?

@witt You lucky dog. Attack Sweden with 19% chance and win. Roll max 12 for war bonds. But another fighter bit the dust. Just the Red Baron is left. The Flying Dutchman fleet is still wandering the oceans searching for a port. Too bad for you the transport is empty. You could have been fathering children all along the way.

Submerge sub. DD was only there last turn as a blocker and will die anyway. Japan goes before Allies next round.

    • Triplea game launcher battle calculator problem with UK Pacific

When using the battle calculator to test Japan vs UK in UK Pacific territories such as India, the calculator default uses UK Pacific, rather than British. This always produces a zero win result for an allied attack, because in Triplea, all UK Pacific fighting units are converted to and tagged as British units. UK Pacific should not be an option on the list of countries, or the default setting for units in UK Pacific territories. Please remove UK Pacific from the battle calculator app.

    • RE: Corrupted game file stops 1st strike combat in 1914 NML

@barnee Thanks. Turns out one team player was using an ancient version of Triplea engine. We’ll just have to manually adjust for the few land battles that use gas. Most players will build DD’s making first strike less relevant.

Normally, ANZ would build subs, but I decided on a CV to keep up with the neighbors.

There’s a conspiracy theory that the US deliberately left the transports where they could be sunk so that it would create war fever against the Commies, like “Remember the Maine”. But somehow, the Sea of Okhotsk isn’t an inspirational or catchy phrase. The other rumor is that the Commies paid the mother or grandmother of Tokyo Rose to encourage the U.S. troops to invade Hok. So when their way of escape was sunk, Samurai would lead the local populace to rebel and annihilate the invaders.

@redrum Hooray for the Kriegsmarine, defeating the King’s navy. Germany rules the Pacific. It will conquer the isles, one at a time. What’s first, the Aleutians or Alaska? No, the sailors will mutiny unless they head for Samoa or Tahiti and bare breasted natives instead of Eskimos.

@redrum Gunga Din and the Sepoy army sistaned serious losses in taking Sistan. Stiff upper lip. The Royal Navy needs to reset its bearings. It keeps landing in Syria instead of the Dardanelles. Syriously.

@elrood Seb and Dawg, you’re just prolonging the inevitable. As I march across southern Europe to restore the Hapsburg Dynasty to its ancient glory by joining Spain to Austria; Italy and southern France just happen to be in my way, trinkets to bestow upon the lesser nobles of my court.

@redrum Ha. I assume Leo the Lion wants his battleships. Which is fine with me. Turkey can be fun. But if Witt wants a break from UK, I can take it. Either way, its war between UK and T.
