      I tried out PtV . I think Russia needs a Bid. Its another fight in Russia. Easier for the Axis to win than in BM I think.

      @max334 Thank you too. No, the pace of play wasn’t part of the decision, and you’ve always been upfront about your rate of play. You put yourself into a challenging situation in this game but dealt with it very well.

      Yes, I think the Allies can cope with that one :relaxed:, I don’t think there’s any hope of an Axis victory, well done and well played. Good luck in the next round of the playoffs!

      @elche

      I think you coordinated your bid and strategy. Reinforcing China with Russia and the US going mostly after Japan means that never got the income level needed to keep growing. It’s difficult to know when to switch to the other board as you don’t want Japan finding it’s feet again. I do think the bid showed your intention to reinforce Yunnan and so I tried to bring extra Japanese forces into that area in anticipation.

      It could have worked in this game. The first turn was kind to Germay’s air and navy, and Italy had some luck if I remember correctly. This meant I could control Gibraltar and Suez and focus spending against Russia so there was less opportuntiy to bring help into Europe from the US or the Middle East. With a few different dice rolls maybe the Red Army is able to combine with the UK to hold Stalingrad or the US to hold Leningrad or Moscow never falls, and then it becomes tricky for the European Axis to grab that final VC whilst holding off an invasion. I needed to retake Norway really, but the navy was cut off, the loss of those IPCs would have started to hurt if Moscow hadn’t fallen.

      @flyingbadger Good stuff, well said.

      It is difficult playing with Axis, but lots of fun. Practically every mistake is punished and it is much more difficult to get back after. With Allies, you can lose units on purpose, just to slow Axis down, and somehow win at the end. What is more, sometimes it is not even needed to win. If Axis does not break you down and take VCs, that is already 80% of winning. It is usually 30-50 IPCs different per round.

      @Giallo Hitler’s brains are no sprayed all over the wall of the bunker.

      Well done and very well player. You stuffed up Japan nicely (it was funny that they were all trapped on the island at the end) and held the line in the Middle East to stop the Germans. Good move to keep piling US fighters in for the defence.

      Happy to receive any feedback or thoughts you have on my play if you have any, always looking to improve.

      Thanks for the game! It’s diffcult to analyse the game, I would need to look back every round. But I believe you didn’t buy enough landunits with Germany, this way you can’t pressure Russia enough and this give the allies the chance to pressure from the south and the west. The allies did had lots of fighters!

      Congratulationsto your victory. Germany was very strong and good play with your bombes. I looking forward for next game.

      Thank you, I thought you out played me in most theatres and held onto Ukraine for a while but fortunately for me the direct thrust and battle for Moscow went well and left me with plenty of tanks and planes to swing down into the Middle East. Even then you held them up well.

      What were your thoughts on this game and my play?

      It would be good to have another game, would you like the same again but different sides?

      @martin said in L21 #3 FlyingBadger (AX) vs Martin (AL+20) BM:

      @flyingbadger I think it is time to call it a game! Thank you for the match, and well played!

      I am glad I made it to round 20 in my first BM3 game :-) I do not think that I made that one big and decisive mistake and even played quite well Russia and ANAC. But I never had a real plan for the US and UK. Maybe I should have gone 100% against Italy right from the start. And I should have taken back all original UK Europe territories to get back the bonus, although it is just 3 IPC.

      Apart from the extra/changed national objectives, BM3 seems to be quite similar to G40. I think the last 10 rounds or so I just played a G40 game… It was a fun match!

      Thanks Martin for the game. It was fun, always lots going on. I agree that you didn’t make any big mistakes, your Russian attacks caught me off balance and it took a while for Germany to recover and start to grind down Russia. I’ll have to look back at the game and see what went on. Yeah, I play BM like it’s G40 as it’s easier on the brain, I do like the cruiser / marine combination for boosting amphibious invasions, and try to keep a constant eye on the objectives for extra IPCs.

      @flyingbadger Yes, the strong German navy seems to be a good way in PtV. As it is difficult to break the Russians quickly, Germans need time to wear them down, and for that, you can not allow US to start invading the mainland.

      I am not sure what would happen if US invests heavily in Atlantic? That would launch D Day in time for the Europe and to save the Russians, but would they be able to stop Japan in Pacific?

      I am not experienced enough to give some smarter thoughts on this, but hey… we will both learn :)

      I would like to start a new game with Allies, try to play it better. If you agree, set it up and let’s get it going.
