It denies Moscow reinforcements on R6+, but it seems a powerful strategy and if Japan is weakened then halting Germany in the Middle East is easier. If it is premeditated then UK Pacific and ANZAC purchases and moves can be coordinated and combined with China to pressure key places like Yunnan, Malaya and the DEI. It also seems a better use of the US Pacific fleet, which for me often sits off Queensland or Hawaii and is easily blocked off by Japan whilst it is busy elsewhere.

Obviously every strategy has a counter strategy, and the skill and experience of the player is what makes the difference. I haven’t faced this before and couldn’t respond to it, but it has been interesting to learn about it.

@zarhunter You nearly stopped the Middle East push, and then you would have won because of all that extra $$. I even had to build Japanese planes in India to send over to the Germans, otherwise you would have been able to counterattack and halt the advance.

I do not have a path to victory, anywhere. I thought I was on the right track but a few bold moves by you took me out again. I am not sure what to do to get better.
      Good Game.

      Thank you for the game.

I’d say you have improved over the time period we have been playing. You have played better in this game than our previous ones, if you hadn’t lost those fleets I’d be in real trouble as I took too long to take Moscow and Japan has had to retreat from India. You reinforced the Middle East well, which is important for the Allies to support India and block any German advance to Egypt. You fell back as Russia in good order and made it tough for the Germans, and cleared out the Med and bottled up the Italians.

I would suggest the lesson to take from this game is to double check what enemy planes can potential attack your fleets, and to be aware that the Italians can build an airfield under German planes to increase range. If possible, it is useful to try to have Italy keep 15 IPC in the bank for this purpose (but more important for Italy to survive, can open against Russia).

I will have a look back at the game and see what tips I can offer.

I think you should be proud of the improvement I have seen you make.

it started off well but then ended bad.

Yes, Germany and Italy we’re putting the UK under a lot of pressure early, but I held onto Gibraltar and Egypt, and Germany struggled to get momentum against Russia.

I am not sure how I lost pace on this game

I can look back and let you know my thoughts if you like?

concede good game, I am not up to your level obviously.

Thanks you for the game and the compliment. There probably isn’t that much between us, maybe just a few little things and some dice rolls make it feel like that.

I did USA and took Germany. I had to take advantage of it, espacially in playoff.

Absolutely, taking advantage of opponent mistakes is a key part of the game, and you set yourself up well with a powerful invasion of Norway. You gave me too much to think about! Well played and good luck in the next round.

Well, I think the Axis have hit the high watermark, and it is no where close to economic parity. The Western Allies have a bridgehead in France and Japan is over stretched. Italy is… well Italy just is.

Well played. I gave it my best but you had won in every theatre. Thanks for the game and good luck in play offs!

@flyingbadger said in Loading units onto allied transports in the same round that the ally unloaded them:

… even though the US transports have already loaded/unloaded on that round?

During US turn rules concerning movement and loading/unloading transports apply to the US. So restrictions apply to US turn, see rulebook’s Transport rules. They do not apply to the entire round. In your scenario it is France’s / UK’s turn.

This is why the rules that you quoted say “You (as French or as UK) move land units aboard”, and “You (as French or as UK) offload your units.”. The US transport has no active role here, as it is not US’ turn.

@elche said in L22 BM elche (Axis) vs FlyingBadger (Allies+16) #4:

And thank you for the game. Up to now, I have more attention of defending N/B. In our game it cost me all german money to try retake N/B and Russia gets strong. I think its a very important point in my games. I have the same problem in 2 other games. In 1 game I could retake N/B and in the other is maybe same like our game. I have to try but will cost a lot of money .

In OOB (but not BM or PtV as there are objectives) I beleive some players never capture N/B as either Germany and Italy specifically to make it harder for the Allies to maintain a bridgehead on the Continent.

I need to get better at supporting the Italians in the Med with the Germans, especially the Luftwaffe, as I think whilst the Italians are putting pressure on North Africa and the Middle East then most Allied players will prioritise saving that over attacking France, which then gives Germany that crucial window to take Moscow and then bring the air power back to Germany to counter any Allied landings in Europe.
