Well, that’s it - my act of desperation did not work out. Congratulations - I need to find a special weapon for my Axis to beat your patience with the Allies, LOL. And I believe I have lost all of my games with the Axis against you, because I didn’t take re-taking France serious enough, or too late.

To be honest, the restoration of France was a desperate gamble by myself, you were on course for a win at that point. I was lucky with the key battles and held on just enough against Germany to allow the US to pure it’s entire output into the Pacific. Otherwise Japan would have run even more wild. You played well enough for a victory, but lady luck was smiling on me.

This was another awesome game with many ups and downs and LOTS of action :-) I still remember what you said at the beginning: “I can’t believe it is still only round 2, so much has happened already!”

It only took another 17 rounds after that…

My Japan was as strong as never before, but this didn’t help against your well played KJF strategy.

I was secretly hoping to benefit from your longer break, but you seem to be stainless and never rust…

So I am looking forward to playing the re-match with switched sides, most likely in February.

Yes, let us regather our energies during the lull in campaigning season and go again in the new year.

My plan was to focus on land units for Germany (slow movers G1 and fast movers subsequently) to push towards Moscow and/or Caucuses.
I was intending a J2 DOW, but your moves made that undesirable so switched to a muddled J3.
After that I was mostly playing for speed so it may have gotten a bit (more) sloppy.

Painful one there in Yunnan. At least it’s against an opponent who is unlikely to be able to make the most of these things. Save your luck for later in the playoffs.

Thank you for a great game, and thank you so much for setting up a decisive battle. I had the pleasure of rolling that battle and it was a lot of fun. To be honest, overall I thought you played the better game, but I had luck on my side - especially so in that final show down.

Yes, I am a relatively experienced PtV player, although that experience mostly consists of me getting my ass kicked. Has it really been over two years since I last played PtV, damn! Do the horses still move two up and one to the side, or is that the castles?..

This is why I’m trying to use ELO to find a game I can be competitive in, don’t mind being the underdog but there’s definitely some PtV who would easily beat me to death with a sock full of s**t.

In the combat move, I meant to unload a transport from SZ96 into Syria rather than SZ99.
I have did an edit in NCM to reflect this, I hope this is okay?

I’ve tried to set the game up as play by forum. Used that same email twice and seemed okay. Have posted a save after making the placements (and deductions).

This puts a British destroyer on the East Coast of the USA and I’m worried you guys will start throwing the tea rations into Boston Harbor.

I’m happy to do G1 if it helps gets things going. I will endevour to approach this game like every other, with no thought to future moves or coordination between allied powers!

Regarding SZ92. Maybe this game wasn’t typical as I purchased two bombers (as I like them at 12IPC), whereas most would probably buy navy or slow movers.

I think the key to stopping the attack 92 is having enough in 92 (with scramble from Gibraltar) to discourage a direct attack by the Italians, whilst also having enough in Algeria to discourage Italy invading and giving the Luftwaffe a landing spot. Depending on how the G1 attacks play out, the UK can often achieve, but without a bid I guess it is more likely this will be a stretch.

Maybe some existing units could be moved to help the UK against I1 and G2 attacks. Possibly moving one French ship from 93 to 92 could free up a plane to reinforce Algeria, or the three French infantry in North Africa could all start in Algeria. However, there may be unintended consequences to these moves, I haven’t completely thought it through.

As the intention is to have no bid (which I like as an idea), I think the board should still allow the UK to be able to secure 92 with what it has available - if it concentrates only on this move. The alternative of retreating into the Red Sea seems to give the Axis too much of the initiative, and attacking 97 is very dicey.

Misunderstood the rules and thought I could move Japanese units into Timuguska and not trigger Mongolia, but failed to realise it was the US that attacked Korea, not Russia, then the Russain stack moved in. I also screwed up and landed too many troops on FIC and didn’t leave any spare to cover Kwangsi.

You now control every theatre and Russia has a massive income, it’s over.
