I know that it will be a North Africa game because I am in the process of creating it myself. Just got the map and currently working up a list of units and values for D-12 dice.

RE: In your opinion, what is strategically your favorite army to play and why?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Without a doubt, Germany with the U.S. a close second. All the allies usually gang up on the Germs and its fun to see if they can live until the Italians and Japanese can start to help them. In AA50 the Japanese usually have to send some planes or ships to help the Germs unless the U.S. player decides to try and take out the Japanese first like what happened in my last game. When playing the U.S. its fun to see how quick they can get involved and yet be effective when they do. The U.S. is so far away from the action and so weak its a challenge for them to get going and make a difference.

RE: Battle of the Bulge with ILs rules and map.posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
WOW, we were rolling three die for each tank Like the rules said. I think we may have goofed. We also had the defenders roll. Did we goof that up also? Yes we had the tigers taking two hits. I also learned not to move groups of tanks ahead without infantry support.

RE: FMG russian TANKposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
First off the only t-72s I know of were cold war era tanks.
There were T-60s and T-70s which were light tanks, but i think those are better used for mech inf.
Definetly one of the tanks should be a KV-1
The IS-2 is a good idea but i would rather see one of the SU series like the ISU-122
I also would like to see a t-34/85
Soviet medium and heavy armor porduction 1940-1945
T-34: 34,780
T-34/85: 22,559
ISU-122: 4,075
IS-2: 3,854
KV-1: 3,015
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_armored_fighting_vehicle_production_during_World_War_IIT34/85 is a good choice.

RE: How many sets of FMG pieces will you buyposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
@Brain:
how many sets of each nation will you buy
That depends upon the price.
I agree with BD. Unable to answer until the price is established.
My thoughts are the same. Depends on the price and if combined shipping is offered also. I do not like the way this project is headed as far as the time involved. If it takes months or even years to complete all the sets then combined shipping discounts may not be available for years. It may be years before all nations are ready for sale. I am concerned that I may be too old to remember what these plastic units are for by the time they are all completed!

IL, I thank you for any help or input that you can give me for this game.

RE: Battle of the Bulge with ILs rules and map.posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Played BotB with ILs rules today. A lot of mistakes made by both of us concerning the new rules. We used the regular AA combat system but with 12 side dice and ILs attack and defend numbers. Looks like you have to use the pull out strips to get random hits on various units. Otherwise you end up with too many casualties in the early rounds of the game. ILs rules concerning aircraft were not detailed. We rolled for air initiative and then placed the aircraft in the battles where we wanted them but skipped the dogfight routine. Then we did did the aa defense with each artillary as the only aa guns. Other ground units could not hit planes. I played the Germans and broke out into the open and started to rack up the points on round # 4. The allied player lost too many trucks by putting them in the front lines so we called it a game after 4 rounds. We planned a rematch for next tuesday. I think we can eliminate the mistakes next time and have a lot better game.

Here is a tiled version of the map.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/zdnggn4zmmj/AAMedTiled.pdf
This will make a 20"x 30" map. Sorry it took so long.
I have printed this out but it is way too small to be practical. Can you tile the original map that you posted? If you cannot then I still thank you for your efforts.
How is it too small? Most of the territories are large, and the small ones have blow up circles
I finally got a larger version of this map printed out. Now I can sub divide the land and sea zones and create my own version of the North Africa campaign. That is why I wanted a larger map. Who knows when we will get such a game from WOTC.

RE: What will happen to AA50posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Its happened with me already. I sold my AA50 and look forward to AA40. I can stll play AA50 as I have ILs large map on my game bench under plexiglass. Printed out the rules and setup cards and have lots of AA plastic units. I painted some classic pieces to use for my Italians. Will have Italian units with AAE1940 when it comes out. More from FMG if they ever get them listed for sale.

Was Vasily Saitsev all he was cracked up to be or was he just a product of Soviet propaganda?

RE: Battle of the Bulge with ILs rules and map.posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
@Imperious:
Oh man i made that in like 2004!
I forgot about that one.
I did play it back then and its alot like a standard AA game, but allows the Germans the ability to get more pieces into the battle if they get to certain places and achieve more victory. IN this they can take Antwerp.
I am not sure about the rule that states, under the reinforcement chart add one armored infantry unit with every armored or Panzer unit due as reinforcements. That seems like a lot of mechanized infantry. I am also thinking about using Tide of Iron map tiles to make an even larger layout. I have a large board game bench in my shop so 3x6 layouts are no problem. Looks like our BotB game is set for tuesday. I will post how it goes.

Battle of the Bulge with ILs rules and map.posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Getting set up to play BotB with ILs rules and map next week. Will try the regular AA combat rules option first to see how that plays out. Will report how this works. Video will help me remember how it goes.

Why are people so adverse to putting it on the floor?
They can’t afford a table?
I asked why people DON’T want to put it on the floor
They can’t afford a floor?
No, some of us old timers cannot get back up off the floor after we get down there! When I’m your age I will be able to get up!
How do you know this? You may not ever get to my age. When I was born the Dead Sea was only sick. I built a bench in my shop that I have ILs AA50 map mounted on under plexiglass. Nice and smooth so that all the pcs. set nice and level. Right now we have a small group of three. Yes I am the eldest. In the near future I will have the AA1940G set up over top of AA50. Maybe next year I will have ILs 1939 map mounted there with custom rules. Sorry I got started ramblin. I am lucky at my age that I can still find my way out to my shop. Oh well I guess one of the other guys will help me get out there.
