    • RE: Any Hope of Making CHINA a REAL 7th Player Nation?

      @Funcioneta:

      I’ll made a China mod rules after I play a couple of annyversary games. China will be a 7th player (with normal rules as should), mandatory techs and NOs and probably less powerful heavy bombers

      Awesome!  Thanks.  Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

    • RE: Any Hope of Making CHINA a REAL 7th Player Nation?

      @timerover51:

      I have made China a 6th player in Pacific, and the house rules for that are posted in the house rules section.  I am waiting to get the game to see what might be required for A&A50, and see what modifications are needed.  Bottom line is giving China some sort of aid from the US via the “Hump Airlift” over the Himalayas and allowing them to get aircraft from the US.  Bsically, you will need to put in some sort of Lend-Lease rule.

      I like this idea.  My only fear is that in the 1941 set-up, CHINA will fall before US Aid can reach them.  Just getting a US fighter to CHINA will take THREE Turns! And this is if the US sends the Fighter squadron from Pearl. (HI to AU - AU to IND - IND - CHN).  i will have to try this out on my own before I ask some poor sap to play the Chinese.

      What if the CHINA IPCs could be spent in China to build more forces?  In addition to the “pop-up” INF?  I will explore this also, as long as it is not to overpowering and breaks the game for the Japs.

    • Any Hope of Making CHINA a REAL 7th Player Nation?

      I know we are still days away from the release of AA50 and it is maybe a little early to start Moding the Rules already but I Have the following problem and the following question:

      Problem: This game is SO popular and anticipated that my game group can’t handle it!  Every member who has ever wanted to play ANY game with us has come out of retirement to get a seat at the AA50 game table.  I would like to see if it is possible or even conceivable that CHINA could be made into a 7th player.  Every seat at my game group table is booked for the next three games already and if this continues I will have to quit my job and become a professional AAA Host! (I wish!)

      Question:  Can CHINA be played as a 7th player?  What changes need to be made in order to allow this to happen without breaking the game?

      Your opinions, experience and insights are appreciated…

    • RE: Some set ups availible for AA50

      Maybe we are missing something here… MAYBE there is true genius to the double set-ups?  The 1941 set-up favors the AXIS and gives the Allies a challenge, the 1942 set-up favors the ALLIES and gives the AXIS a challenge?

      Maybe…  Im just philosophizing here.

    • RE: Avoid China

      @Funcioneta:

      Yea, pretty reasonable stuff, Craig  :-)

      Just a item: in Revised, techs were forbidden for competitive play in most places, even if tech were mandatory in OOB rules. Maybe the same will happen with China not being able of go out of China: mandatory in OOB, but ignored rule in league games or even in LH rules next versions

      I agree, what if you are just very good or lucky with CHINA?  In a game of Pacific I played once, to the surprise of all players… with a little dice luck and some poor Japanese decisions CHINA became not only a nuisance but a TRUE THREAT!  It would seem silly to me that if CHINA was lucky enough to stand on its own two feet ans expel the invaders…  They would sit on thier hands when they had the Japanese on the run in Asia.

      (If this game is ever changed so CHINA is a 7th player this will have to be the case)

    • RE: Japan & Russia

      Sorry, I guess in the back of my mind I still expect another delay!  In regards to JAPAN - RUSSIA, based on the US set up card you posted elsewhere…  CHINA may be more of a deterrent in the 1942 set-up than 1941.

      In 1942 set-up CHINA has quite a force to keep JAPAN busy and away from Russia’s back door…  In 1941 set-up CHINA looks kinda slim.

      WOW!  Thanks!  Looks like the CHINA set-up for 1941 is just as slim as we discussed.

    • RE: Japan & Russia

      One of the major changes I think they were going for in the design, both with the addition of CHINA and the Historical Territory bonus was to reduce the USSR - JAPAN conflict.  This is what bothered me most about the Rev Edition…  The fact that Japan ALWAYS attacked Russia to Pincer with German Forces.

      It will still be a factor but they have given Japan alot more to chew on in Asia which makes the USSR - Japan conflict a side show I think.

      Can’t wait to see how it actually works out once we have the game in a few weeks!

    • RE: IC in india?

      Ok, Im going to go against the current here and put my neck out…

      I think a British IC in India is a good idea!

      For the following reasons:

      1. The new territory of Burma gives the UK one turn to fortify the IC before it is attacked by japan, unlike the REV edition where the IC can be taken first turn.
      2. In the 1941 set up, Japan has to many objectives!  With Containing China, attacking the Americans at Pearl and the Philippines and taking the islands of the South Pacific from UK, an all out attack on India is a risk and should it fail… giving the other allies (including UK due to IPCs gained in South Pac Islands) more time to ramp up and deploy.
      3. To avoid the Axis Pincer on USSR, the allies need to keep Japan busy in Asia.  This means diverting her attention to India and thus China (supported by India).  Even if the IC eventually falls to Japan, it may have bought USSR enough time to aid in the destruction of Germany

      I guess we are all just speculating as we dont have a TRUE set-up map…  But I will be giving the Indian IC a go as Britain!

      Thanks for the advice.  When I begin this 39 set-up I know for sure where I will have to come for advice and input.

      I will wait and see how you guys develop the 40 set-up, then maybe I’l think about the 1939 version of AA50.  Maybe im just looking for an excuse to make French unit molds :roll: and French dice

    • RE: Anybody interested in developing a 1940 or 1943 set up?

      Ok, Maybe I seem to Hard Core ( I studied History in University for 5 years)  But I would love to create a 1939 scenario for this new board.  Im all for the extra long games, also I enjoy the “what if” factors.

      I think the 40, and 43 set-ups are a great idea…  And I know to do a 39 scenario would require turn restrictions on many nations to keep the game and historical balance.  I think I will be working on this in the future.

      Any other hard core players interested in this?

      The picture really makes no sense so why did they bother!!!

      Whats with the UK army in Eastern Europe?!  And the US units in China?  Did the photographer ever play AAA before he arraigned the board?

      Also, why is there only Four boxes for the pcs when there are 6+ nations in the new game… lame attempt by WOTC

      Thanks for NO NEW INFORMATION once again… geez these guys!

      Wow!  Release is 10 days away and they FINALLY posted a pic!

      And of course I see it here before anything else.  Thanks for the post!

      I like the New trays they have added for the nations.  Great improvement over the REV edition where all your pcs are just thrown into a box
