      If your going to use planes then: “Go big or stay home.” A few planes can be easily dealt with by a well built opponent but a swarm of planes can be completely different. Planes can’t claim objectives so there is a balance between air and surface elements that has to be noted if you intend on claiming objectives.

    • RE: AAM Database released

      Yes we do use the Microsoft codes. But on the up side its still available online 24/7 @ http://www.tintirinti.com/search_AAM.aspx

      I also forgot to mention Version IV is running and includes the addition of the AAM stats for the A20 planes in a printable version. Its only a list in the back of the A20 rule book but now you can search and print them out on the dbase.

      Cheers

      PS - Any chance we can un-pin the DDay set thread from 5 years ago and sticky this?

      Send me an email and we can talk about the pro’s and con’s and perhaps we can make it happen.

      Sgt Fury very generously went through each and every card to help straighten out text overwriting and some errors that came with the database we uploaded. As far as we know its 100% accurate now and the card formats should be clearer. As always, please watch for errors and let us know so we can correct them.

      Cheers

      @ DJensen - Sorry I missed your post on February 08. To be perfectly honest I’m not really sure what github is. It must be different than the hosting site I currently use?

    • RE: Strategy for AAM Naval help

      Don’t put too much faith in Long Lance torpedos. Sure when they hit its great but if you don’t get 6’s they are pretty crappy and you will regret building an entire navy based on a 1 in 6 chance of hitting with torps. You can trust me on that one, ive been there many times and don’t build exclusive LL navys anymore. Go with a good mix of Japanese gunnery from the heavy cruisers and back it up with LL’s from the light cruisers and destroyers. But  bear in mind destroyers rarely make it past turn 3 also.

      @techroll42:

      OK…I just want to make sure that if I attack with 5 planes rolling 1 attack die they all attack separately (i.e. their hits cannot be added together).

      First of all only 4 friendly planes & 4 enemy planes are allowed in one grid. Each planes rolls separately as its attacks count against the armor or vital hits. Its a bit different with torpedos that count directly against the hull points so there is no vital armor to worry about. If your opponent agrees you can roll torps all at once. However this could be a waste of dice that could be used to attack more than one ship if you get lots of 6’s.

    • RE: Should I buy this?

      Well I would avoid any booster purchases and go for the singles market. Your starter is BoB themed and will contain German and British aircraft. So buy the starter and add on the planes from the theater you want to play in rather than wading through random boosters getting stuff you can’t use. This way when you get your order you will be ready to play and maximize the experience.

    • RE: The Higgins boat

      @Bolt-Action:

      Can it even move on regular terrain?

      It can move in water hexes only. So it can technically move up and down rivers but its speed makes it cheaper to move soldiers around the map in transport. Basically it is used when there is a considerable approach to the beach and the enemy could fire on them on the way in. Most players when playing beach landing scenarios have the troops deployed on the beach as though they just unloaded from the Higgins. The other issue with using them is the amount of points they cost for units that cannot participate much beyond turn 1 or 2. At least the Amtrac and LVT can function off the beach.

    • RE: Using the 88 gun

      Eratta did change the 88’s to being transportable on the Trucks from North Africa expansion so they can be moved now. They are tricky to use and work best on open and desert maps due to the long lines of sight (LOS). But if you are not at those range 10+ shots your likely better off with the Pak 40 as an ATG. If you are playing certain year restrictions the 88’s are nessessary to level the field like in the desert campaign. The only thing the Germans had for a while that could stop a Matilda was the 88 ATG.

      Transporting the 88 is tricky also as they are both Large units and cannot occupy the same hex unless the gun is loaded. The truck must enter in the movement phase and load the gun right away otherwise the hex will be overstacked with 2 large units and subject to penalty under the revised rules. When unloading they must enter the unloading hex in the combat so it may unload and move out the the hex before it becomes overstacked in the movement. Guns must be loaded and unloaded from transport in the movement phase but move on there own in the combat phase.

    • RE: A&A minis play by forum

      Players with photoshop or gimp create the maps and mini’s and post jpegs of the battles in the forum. There is a built in dice roller for rolling attacks and etc. The section was active but due to really bad spamming the posts were deleted in the section and nobody returned. There is something about this particular forum platform that makes it venerable to spam which makes it hard for players. There was talk here of a new platform being installed but it dosen’t look like its in the near future any more.

    • RE: The Higgins boat

      The Higgins boat is an overrated scenario piece that rarely gets used but seems to fetch a crazy price on the singles market. They can be purchased cheaper from other 15mm mini mfg’s. If you have one sell it and buy some useful units with the proceeds.

      I found the starter quite playable on its own. From what I understand there will be a new starter for set 2 when it comes out.

    • RE: Bad Traders

      I located him on Facebook and he seems to be associated with a Asian University. The photo doesn’t look like his is in the Military. Now if he is in the US military and he did defraud you thats easy to solve by contacting DoD. They frown upon their members committing crimes against US citizens and will take steps to resolve the issue as not to tarnish the Militarys reputation. :wink:

    • RE: Tide of Iron

      Where to start. ToI is a squad based game and not a beer and pretzels type game. Don’t get me wrong as it is fun to play but its learning curve is steep and gameplay is slow. Its mini’s are nothing remarkable but you don’t get caught in the random booster money grab either. We played it for some time parallel to AAM and ended up breaking up the sets for the high quality maps to use in AAM and letting it go. The other issue is scenarios are difficult to construct and when we ran out of company scenarios it was another reason put it away.

      @RedSkullz:

      SO how many posts do i need before i can post hotlinks to photobucket pics?

      10-15 posts before it will allow you to link. Try the Additional options + in the post frame and it might allow you to attach an image.
