Say I want to invade Manchuria as the US. In the sea zone surrounding japan is one destroyer. Can I have 2 separate battles one for the Sea and one for the invasion. So i send my cruiser to take out the destroyer meanwhile my transport ignores the destroyer and delivers a tank/guy to Manchuria for a separate battle? Assume victory at sea. Otherwise I assume my transport is dead.
Or is it possible to take over phillipines on turn one as Japan? Cause this is the same mechanic.

I’ve not even been playing Global because Imperious spoiled me to such a great big map. I tried to play 1940G and wow what a cram session.
Imperious I implore you to make super maps (pacific/europe). I don’t like the chip markers. Super Maps with Airbases/Naval bases already painted on that would be wicked. I died a little inside seeing this post. :(
Imperious Leader made huge d/l map image file, to be printed out in the past for the other editions. Has he or will he make a super size map for 1940 global or pacific/europe to be combined if needed? With this new game and the sheer amounts of units that are in place this map is actually small and crowded. I’ve been spoiled by his original remakes that was printed so massive. I have my own house rule that I don’t allow chips to be put under units. I ended up buying 3 Spring 1940 copies so i have enough units. I want this new map so i can throw it on the ping pong table and feel like a general in a situation room again.

I am uncertain if I am going to buy AAE40 or not now. I have AAP40 and was looking forward to getting AAE40 for the big combined game but after reading about set up changes I am thinking of not spending the $90 + tax to get it. I was disappointed with AAP40 after the first set up and only played 1 round. AAP40 has not seen a table since the first week it was released. Seriously thinking about selling AAP40 now and just playing AA42 which has no errors in set up and only 2 rule clarifications according to the FAQ.
Dude, it’s not that hard to make a few setup changes. They’re well worth it to play an epic game where China is 18 territories instead of 3, Russia is 30 territories instead of 10, and Africa is 20 territories instead of 10
I understand that but it is the principal of the matter. A set of games that are as pricey as these are should not have these many issues. When all of the issues were brought up with AAP40, Larry and WotC should have made sure that AAE40 had no issues before being released. I don’t know what has happened with the AA franchise but these kinds of things are really disturbing. I was going to pick up AAE40 next Friday when I get paid but after seeing this thread I am really debating on whether to get it or not. I am being more selective in the games that I buy with the price they are now. Too much money to spend to have to make corrections on the set up boxes and any issues that might come up with the new rule book.

I liked the system for tech in AA50, but I often wondered if old tech tokens should have some upkeep to keep the research going… lets say1 ipc per turn for old tokens if tech is not reached.
Actually upkeep is good or seems like a good alternative.

Hey guys… your house your rules. If you like the tech tokens then stick with it. If every nation gets tokens it shouldn’t break balance. Obviously techs can cause balance issues but you feel free to play with a custom rule. :P Perhaps make the tech tokens cost 7 instead of 5 but probably 10. Anyhow, i’m sure you already knew this but you wanted the rules to reflect how tech should work.

Speaking about G40 are you going to make a MAP image of that? I know its pretty big as is but man I want a bigger print already and I haven’t played the game yet. Just seeing how pacific gets a bit tight with Japan. The extra space will be nice.

Yes. My buddy printed one at his work. Turns out his brother has some crazy printer that is 80" wide at his work. Trying to find out about that. I play on a ping pong table at times so i can have a crazy big map. I’m looking for a map that combines the new Europe/Pacific together so I can play that on a massive map. Although that will get expensive to buy units for those. The rule is no plastic chips unless absolutely necessary (crowded territories is the only exception but that comes up rarely).
Has anyone heard of early delivery’s or delays? I’m curious when I would get mine. If by the weekend i need to organize a launch party with costumes, and some skanky bartender on call. I jest. However, I am itchin to play this weekend if all is well with production and shipments to stores.
I take all the chips from each respective country put them face down and mix them up. Then randomly pick em. If you got 2 players then the first to get axis or allied power plays that power. However, when you got 5 people you keep going till all tokens are done and you have your random teams.
Of course if 2 of you want to switch really bad and others don’t care then it .

Search the Forums for TripleA (you can d/l it from sourceforge). A free software and lets you play online in different ways. I believe even by email. Then within the forums there are people playing a more tedious way which everyone says involves lots of typing, I never tried it so I can’t say either way.

Man I don’t even recall. Some link from a thread on this site got me to some useful material (tech sheets, setup sheets). They did needed to be tweaked as they had incorrect values. I can try to find them again if you are interested.
