    • RE: How to handle G1 DOW against Russia?

So it would perfectly work against myself. That is really good to know, luckly nobody in our games did a G1 DOW until now. So I might have the surprise on my side.

    • RE: How to handle G1 DOW against Russia?

I plan to use my ships and fighters to kill the UK fleet.

The allies players are no pros. We have played a few games and always switched sides, teams and factions. So if Russia retreats everything to Moscow then G5 would not be possible or? How much is the time difference between taking Moscow on G6 compared to waiting for the normal War declaration and then attack?

I see. My plan was to build for the first three rounds only tanks and mech. so that they can reach Moscow by turn 5 or 6. After turn 3 I would build strat. bombers to help my attack. But building close to Moscow also has its merits.

    • How to handle G1 DOW against Russia?

      Hi all,

in our next game I will play Germany for the first time. I plan to attack Russia as soon as I can and that means G1. What I am not sure about is against what targets I should move my army. Should I go straight for Moscow  or should I try to get Volgograd or Novgorod on the way as well? Currently I think I will go straigth for Moscow and take to other two cities later. But I am unsure if that is a good idea or if this will enable russia to go into my homeland or retake Moscow without problems.

I hope so. I think the basic rules that are needed to play are how the basic combat works for ground units and fighters, how transports work, how your production works and how you win. With that you have everything you need to play.

Bombing, airfields, naval bases, submarines and all other stuff can be introduced during the game or after the first game. If you have played one game with the basic rules, then you can introduce more and you also learn by seeing what the other players are doing. This was the case for my first 1940 game. I only started with the base rules and worked from there. It also helped that I played russia, which does not have ships and does not use complex rules.

Yeah that is not what I was looking for, but still a great hint. The 1941 rule book is much simpler than the 1940 rulebook. Maybe that would be a good start.

I don’t like the rule books very much and think they are difficult to understand. They are good for later reference, but if you are new to the game it is easy to miss something, because the rules are full of prose. I need something simple with the basic rules, but the complete rule set with scramble, amphibious assault, submarines, SBR and so on.

    • Need a short introduction for a new player

      Hi all,

I have a possible new player for our TripleA G40 game. However he knows nothing about the game. Is there a really short introduction that explains the goals of the game and how to play it? the videos of Young Grasshoper are great, but are to detailed for what I am looking for. I just need to basic summary of production, combat and moving. A few example might be the best.

I would like to explain the rules to him personally, but sadly he moved away and is now out of reach. The time difference makes it difficult for us to use video for explaining.

    • RE: How to beat Japan J1 DOW?

That is some pretty good advice. I will try it the next time. So basically it boils down to “Build up a fleet that that can match the japanese fleet and then use that fleet to keep Japan locked on the main land”.

In our game we had the problem, that Japan attacked Hawaii and killed a large part of the US fleet, then went down to invade Australia (which was retaken) and then Japan went to Hawaii again and killed the US fleet that was build in the mean time. The US player had to build transports and troops to retake Hawaii, so he had not that much ships. And how Hawaii is under siege, japanese troops are at the gates of Calcutta and Australia is locked on its mainland, building up a defence.

    • How to beat Japan J1 DOW?

      Hi all,

We are a group of five ana players with less than 20 games of experience. Currently people started to do J1 Dow (with and without attack on Hawaii). As the allies we have no plan on how to counter this. The attack on Hawaii seams to be especially bad, because the USA is missing a large fleet that they normally use to help Anzac.

So can you help me to find a good strategy against J1 DOW?

    • How long do your games last?

Our game usually last from 8-10 rounds. What about yours?

    • RE: Help needed against Japan

So the way to go are sub, convoys and trying to kill some transports. Ok, we will try that as soon as possible. But what next? What should we do after Japan starts to build destroyers ad goes hunter for our subs?

What is a good way to attack Japan? China is getting weaker with each turn, UK Pac and ANZAC are shipless.

    • RE: Lessons Learned Global 1940

      @GeneralHandGrenade:

Once Calcutta gets bombed don’t pay down the damage until you save up enough money to pay down and purchase units. Japan will just keep bombing if you keep paying down the damage. Make sure you spend all of the money before they attack Calcutta though, you don’t want to hand them all that money.

This I learned to late, but it applies at all bombed ICs.

    • RE: Help needed against Japan

The majority of the Japanese fleet was in Hawaii at j1 to j2. They moved this turn to the Caroline islands.

    • Help needed against Japan

      Hi all,

we (me, my brother and a friend) are currently playing a G40 game. I play on the Allies side and we have a good position in Europe. However Japan did a J1DOW, attacked Hawaii and has now in round 4 gathered a powerful fleet at the Caroline Islands. Calcutta is SBR each round successfully. China just lost Yunnan against a Japan stack with many aircraft. In the north I have 13 Russian Inf running around and 5 Russian Inf in China. That looks good, but UK pacific and ANZAC are doing not so well.

We have no good plan on how to successfully fight Japan. The US fleet is currently to weak to attack the Japan fleet, ANZAC is also quite weak, because Japan attacked them on J3 a and invaded Australia. So it now looks like Japan is going to keep Hawaii and if they manage to capture the weak Calcutta, then they are close to winning.

So what should we do? What are good strategies against Japan?

I have attached the current tsvg file. I play UK and Russia, my brother plays US, China and ANZAC, while our friend plays Axis.

P.S. We currently still hold one money island.
