@Amon-Sul Yeah, it is always a bit of a gamble for the Germans and generally worth scrambling in response too. Its also one that seems to fail for the Germans more often than the 80%+ odds would suggest.

Well, I was refering to my UK strategy as well.

I usually do not allow Italians to take Egypt, and do not have so much air and sea units in the Med.

My default strategy before was attacking Taranto on UK1.

And i suppose U dont buy Yugo airfield on G1 often.

I sometimes do. I do try to protect the Italian fleet as much as I can (and especially if Taranto isn’t done.) A reason I always want the Germans to take Yugo is to make sure that they can share the spending load with the Italians in defending it.

The British carrier was an interesting bid. And it changes the situation in the Med a fair bit. I had thought you would more likely go for Taranto since it entailed either a more difficult trade for the German air after or that you could do Taranto and keep a portion of hte British fleet alive.

I didn’t expect you to retreat from Egypt. I didn’t count the odds but was pretty sure you could hold it. I’ll be curious to see how that plays out. But in Europe I feel I have more room to maneuver than I do in the Pacific where I think Japan is already struggling. But still an early game.

Will likely get to my turn tomorrow (although I am due to play the turn in my other game first).

Yeah, i like the Egypt AC bid. It gives a lot of options to UK.

Yeah. Its an option I see sometimes. I used to do it as well when I did a G2 DOW since you could attack Yugo with Germany and then retreat German units East so that they are at the front quicker.

And I wasn’t planning on Vichy, but your setup forced me into it.

@Amon-Sul it will be hard for me to hold it in the short term, so still might be the right decision.

@Amon-Sul one thing to know is that the vichy fleet doesn’t block my movement. Only yours. Let me know if that changes anything.

@Amon-Sul needed it to be sure I took it. Needed to deny your UK air a landing spot if I was going to keep the Italian fleet alive.

@Amon-Sul I’m enjoying it as well. Its an approach to the pacific that is quite challenging for the axis. At least for me.

And yeah, I normally take Normandy with Germany. But it seemed worth it here to try with Italy after your UK turn.

Yeah, your position in the Pacific is great and very difficult to play against. I’m somewhat regretting I didn’t just gamble on Yunnan on turn 3.

there seemed to be a glitch that wouldn’t let me move my fleet into 97 because of the Soviet sub so I edited that in.

I think positionally you are in a very strong position. And that is all you really need at this point as allies as you have the economic advantage. But we will see

Yeah, two thing are important in this game when evaluating. Statistics and board position. Curently Ur statistics arent bad. But the position on board is of similar importance, if not even more important.

But its still the early phase of the game, and with U being a half class better player then i am (U re high E , and I am low E) we shall see.

The starting stats for the axis (for number of units) is always pretty good. I need to use them well and not sure I responded well to your moves early. You have taken the initiative in the Med and Pacific and put me on the defensive early. Its a good allied approach. The only hope I have here I think is the vulnerability of Russia as a result, but you have lots of air that can come to its defense too.

As for the game rankings, they are useful but a rough indication. And I think I am much more comfortable with allies than axis actually. But yes, we will see.

I ended up playing on your earlier map so I added your edits in after the fact. Might be worth double checking that I got it right.

A big lead for the Allies in TUV and units, but the game is far from over. Japan regrouped. Germany very strong. Italy still holding with the help from Germany.

I’d certainly rather see closer TUV and units, but axis are typically behind in those at this point. My bigger worry is the position in the pacific. I should recover somewhat here, but not sure if it will be enough to turn it around.

And I see you are playing JDOW. That will be a challenge. Good luck!

@Amon-Sul Yeah I saw that dicing. THat should usually work, but that result is why I always try to have two air + sub there.
