RE: China goes all out?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
We had already had a Chinese aa gun question and china will get the aa gun but I don’t know about the bases. I think that the bases would stay because there is nothing stated in the rules, to the best of my memory.

RE: Idea for USposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I think that the us could build the units and lend them to britian for instance. The us would then build the British tan units in eastern us and then the units must be shipped to their destination. The us would build it then britian would be responsible for transporting them. This would be pretty similar to what we did in ww2. Then if we really wanted to make lend lease in this game interesting we could have britian build us units whrn they have high enough number if ipcs or once Germany is captured.

RE: AAP40 FAQposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I have a question about subs and submerging. Can a sub
make a surprise attack and then submerge or is it locked into that round of combat? -

RE: The core problem: Building ICposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
In this game we represent eveything with a value and plastic. There is no differenciating between where and what something is. That would create too much confusion Most of us can barely understand the political rules. Then if japan couldn’t build an IC in a captured territory yes it would make this game easier for an allied victory in this game but it would make the world edition suffer. An allied victory in the world edition would be much too easy.

RE: Attacking carriers on offense(i know)posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
That’s what I used my carriers for when I made this attack. I was attacking the jap carrier group and I knew that I was basically going to lose every unit. So as I lost two airlplane I would then damage and take the carrier as a casualty. That away if I did have something survive it could land or I still had a carrier at least. That was the battle where my friend said that offensive carriers couldn’t take two hits.

Attacking carriers on offense(i know)posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I know that they have no attack value but can they absorb a hit also. Me and my opponent have a disagreement between us. I say they can absorb a hit while he says they cannot.

RE: Italy sub heavy. Speculationposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Sorry that my definition of sub heavy for Italy is diferent than yours ( hard to use perspective words and have eveyone think the same way). I meant sub heavy for Italy since in aa50 Italy pretty much never builds them. Then supporting them would be a waste for Italy because the entire purpose of this idea us only to cause an allied economical headache

When I mentioned sub heavy I meant maybe one every turn or every other turn

Italy sub heavy. Speculationposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I was just thinking about convoy zones and aa50 when it struck me that In Aa50 there isn’t really no naval forces around much of Africa. I don’t know where the convoy zones are going to be but I do suspect a great many of them are going to be around Africa and maybe some in Mediterranean sea. If I am guessing correctly then I suspect it would probably in the axis’s best interests to have subs convoying the ipcs out from under the uk and then forcing the two loses of income for the allies 1. the convoy loses 2 the cost of building some sort of navy to stop the convoying

RE: Russiaposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
@i:
good idea. how bout this every TT has to have 2+ men.
not bad if we really want to divide a peacetime force do the number of units divided by the number of territories then whatever that number is make that your all your TT that are worth points need that many units

RE: Kamikazes for Japan, what for Germany???posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Along these lines, I’ve always thought the game could benefit from a ‘Conscript’ rule. Conscripts are units that cost 2 IPCs each and can be placed on any territory a power controls, in numbers up to the value of that territory. This would represent the ability of nations to draft large masses of poorly-trained soldiers whose main function was to serve as rearguards and cannon fodder.
Cost: 2
Attack: 0 (increases to 1 if paired with Artillery)
Defence: 1
Move: 0 (increases to 1 if paired with non-Conscript land unit)So, for example, the UK could pay 4 IPCs to drop 2 Conscripts in Egypt at the end of the turn, to help hold the territory.
Conscripts are just buffer units whose main ability is to take a hit for a more expensive unit; the only real advantage in buying them is their flexibility in placement. (If you have older editions of A&A you can use different colours of Infantry to represent Conscripts: brown for the USSR, grey for Germany, mint green for UK, yellow for Japan.)
i like that idea, but the draw back it would be hard to keep track of which unit is the conscript

Russiaposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I know this is all speculation but these are my thoughts. I don’t really know what the Russian army strength was in 1940 so I am going to use aa50 41 as my main guessing stick. If Russia is or probably going to have a decent infantry and artillery start. My guess there is enough Units that Germany would really have to think about going east on turn 1 with a good France player ready to capitalize on any German mistakes. To the point Russia will probably be just strong enough that there is no way Germany could leave enough units behind to defend against a french attack. I dont think that Russia will that with much of an airforce, but Russia may start with a fighter. I think a good Russian first turn buy would probably be two tac bombers and some land units. Depending on how much money Russia will get tanks to work with the tac bombers. Depending on how many territories there are bombers may be the other choice. In honor of tradition there will be the russian sub that everyone forgets to move everyone now and again. Then since all the major territories on pac40 are the same ipc wise caucaus will prbably still be 4. I saw on another thread the cauc will have a minor ic. I find that is very likely, but I think Russia may need to upgrade that to a major ic so the russians can stop japan once that break through India. I had more I was thinking of but I can’t remember it at this time.
