In my ftf play group we think that 42 with NOs and tech is faily well balanced as long as access to seazone 16 is not allowed. We are all pretty good players.

Our favorite game quotesposted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
This my favorite quote ever mentioned by an AA50 player.
“How do you you expect me to remain calm when the very fabric of reality is falling apart around me.” my friend said that after losing a battle in china. It was one Chinese inf against a jap inf, jap fighter, jap tank, and jap bomber. The japs lost that battle. -
Italy or Germanyposted in 1941 Scenario
Which would be a more effective choice for an allied sbr campaign bombing Italy or bombing Germany. My choice is Italy because with its small income one could effectively prevent them from making war, or just annoy Germany.

RE: AA 40 Pacific Setup Picturesposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I would suspect that is order to maximize their prophits they realease some sort of “1940 World expansion pack” that would give us everything we want then hyping up the price on that too.
Giving us say paper money, some more “critical” pieces, and the rules and what not for the world edition
Nice set up pictures

RE: Closing access to SZ 16 a game winner?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
I like to make many small invasions of France. I know that I will lose France to either Italy or Germany, but it gives the Uk or US 11 ipcs a turn. Then I also like to keep italy’s hand tied in north afica with the US. Italy is forced to worry about either Africa or France. In all my expiernces Italy has chosen Africa for the national objectives and ipc values. Then Germany is forced to send valuabe units to france rather than russia. The entire time I save unts for the grand invasion of France. Because Russia wasn’t germany’s only target it was able to stay pretty strong. Unless things go terribly for the allies(bad dice roles) this seems to work pretty good.

RE: What power is your favorite to play?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
I chose the US because I am a thinker. I enjoy being the US for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that the even though the battles aren’t numerous the US can still make some important attacks. These attacks need a lot of luck, my kind of AA strategy. Then once the US has had their build up the war changes. My one freind said it best, " Ohh god, the US is invading the axis party is over." The allies went on to win that round.
Even though my favorite is the US, I am best as Uk. I don’t know why but my record is best with them.
In all my games I have never played as japan, but I do know thier kind or play is not my style so I wouldn’t really it.
That’s all I have to say about that. -
RE: Carriersposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I personaly feel that a cost of 18 and two hits will definitly stop stacking. That will increase the percentage of smaller fleets becease a large fleet will be too expensive. Then it will add more historical accuracy because now countries will not build a carrier when they have a little extra money. When considering the purchase of a carrier it now becomes a larger decision. If those two changes are made then it will really bring true navies. Germany will no longer have a rediculous navy of carriers and a battleship. Only the true naval powers of the war will be able to utilize the carriers. Though I saw somewhere in this thread the idea of an escort carrier, they would truely end super stacking and still allow all countries a airforce on the sea. That’s my thoughts on the carriers.

Closing access to SZ 16 a game winner?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition

Game changing ideaposted in House Rules
After VE day there was large tensions between the soviets and the western allies. If Germany is taken by the US or UK then the USSR will become an axis player. All allied units in soviet territories will be moved to russia for detainment(become POWs). This would make the game a little more interesting and possibly could have happened if Berlin fell to the western allies.

3rd break though chartposted in House Rules
This is what me and my group have come up with
1. Only infantry attacking hit on 22. Destroyers can carry 1 inf
3. Long range howitzers (artillery can not engage in combat from a square away no ships can be hit)
3. Kamikaze
4. Nuclear Reacters (ships can move three spaces)
6. Draft (1 free infantry a turn)

RE: An effective allied strategy.posted in 1941 Scenario
With the UK i usually send some fighters to deal with the infantry attacking or that has taken Egypt.
Then when the US is in round two or three that I take Norway depending on what looks better.
Also at this point Germany has already sent the starting infantry into karalina ssr so they aren’t a problem.

An effective allied strategy.posted in 1941 Scenario
Have Russia fight for continued control of karalina ssr while the US captures norway and finland. Then to help keep a severe German presence out of Russia the uk will keep capturing France (11 IPCs a turn for UK). The US can build ICs in norway and finland for 5 units a turn directly on the front rather than transporting (2 turns away) from US. Then the US can along with Russia push Germany back to Europe. This has been effective for me the couple of times I have used it. Another ideo would be for Russia to allow the US to capture Poland so the US can build an IC and units there.

RE: Kill UK first?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
i have taken out uk first as Germany before and still lost due to a much to powerful Russia and the US going for France every round. Uk was eventually liberated and then Germany/Italy fell that same turn and the next turn. After that the entire allied effort was against a very economically strong Japan, but it was only a matter of time before they were pushed out of Asia and back to the home islands. Going after the UK is not an option.IMO
