It was a tuesday. I was going to school in Brooklyn NY. It was my first year of highschool. I had to take a 15 minute subway ride to get to school. It was actually my first day on the subway. Previous days my father had the good will of driving me to school. That day I got lost on the subway and got to school at 8:30 AM. By my second period class my classmate noticed some smoke over the trees. Minutes later some lady comes into the classroom and quietly whispers something onto my teacher’s ear. Once the lady left, our teacher informed us that a plane crashed into one of the towers of the WTC. We spent the rest of the period talking about how in the 1940’s a similar accident had happened with the Empire State building. We went off to the next period class as usual. There we went on the computers and found out that a second plane crashed into the other tower. Panic started taking over the class as our teacher told us that it might have been a terrorist attack. By 4th period we were all watching the news on any available tv that the school had to offer. There were kids crying and teachers as well when we found out that both towers had fallen. By six period my mother came to pick me up. She walked 70 blocks to get to my school. There were no trains running and the busses and cabs were full. As we walked back to my house, we heard jet fighters zooming past our heads and people would duck in fear. I myself was scared since on tv they had said that there were 6 airplanes missing. When I was approaching my house, i noticed a thick layer of ashes on top of the cars. I collected some of it, that i still hold to this day. I also picked up a burning paper that came falling in front of me. Later on that day me and my family walked to the Brooklyn Promonade to see Manhattan. On the there, we saw people taht were coming from manhattan covered in dust. I will never forget that scene. Downtown Manhattan was one big dust cloud. The only thing you could see were the sirens of the official vehicles. “what a day”.
A few days later my neighborhood was covered with faces. Papers everywhere with “have you seen…” “last day seen…” I knew people that died there. RIP

MY OPINION: I, as a person that experienced the tragedy, do not wish to see another American city devastated as NYC was.

Nice rush for germans to decide the game, don’t know how well would work, but that would be very good idea to try to decide the game. Don’t sacrifice your planes on hitting the allied fleet, it’s not worth it if you are rushing for a win, you need all the aircraft you have left to defend germany and hit the russians more powerfully.

This game is great, but i cant find anyone to play with. They should make something like AA minies online, just the way they run MTG online.

      ?

      @Jule:

Although I don’t say that it is impossible to win in round 4-5, but it’s absolutely unlikely against a player of the same experiencel-level. Of course a mean dicey can lead to a desaterous end very early, but that’s not the normal case. LEN and IND may not be a big problem for the axis, but under normal cicumstances you shouldn’t be allowed to rush to MOS that fast.
If you absolutely ignore the Kriegsmarine, the british player should be able to threaten everything between NWY and WEU in his ~ third round. A solid german navy is also vital in the late-game to defend the mediterian. Joined up by japanse capital ships, it provides a good defense against american amphibious assaults in the south/southeast.

Well, I am not going to be able to prove these ideas with the current game I am playing… made WAY too many mistakes on G1, and a couple of lesser errors on J1.  Result is that UK and US are a threat to Germany in turn 2, not turn 3.  That will force Germany to pull resources off Russia for defense; far more than otherwise should have been the case.

Give me a few more games, correcting my initial errors, to work out the bugs.

Is the book Hitler Victorious in the same line?  It sounds like it would be…

I found D-Day to be necessary.  Strategically and politically.

Carriers are the major unit in a fleet
The aircraft carrier emerged after World War I as an experimentally modified cruiser. The first aircraft carrier built (1925) from the keel up as an aircraft carrier for the U.S. navy was the U.S.S. Saratoga. The aircraft carrier remained an experimental and untested war vessel until World War II, when the Japanese destroyed or drove out of the East Asian waters the British, Dutch, and U.S. navies with carrier-borne aircraft. By 1942 the aircraft carrier had replaced the battleship as the major unit in a modern fleet, and in World War II it was indispensable in naval operations against a sea- or land-based enemy.

I like to hold back all my Tanks and Fighters on the Eastern Font, say in Eastern Europe, and with a buffer of Infantry in and around them. Then, when Russia stretches out to far, I smash all his major military force in one fell swoop. Should he play smart, and keep playing defensively, I put out a force large enough to cause troubles if Russia ignores it, but small enough to be a temptation for him to destroy, and walk into my dead-zone. Just a thought…

yes but their is just one little problem

      what with island bases than

i think its ok this way beacuse ,when the island bases would worth for all ,with long range aircraft you could get 8 movement with fighters which is very powerful

and the game wouldnt be that much interesting

      but thats just my opininon

I’m sure it could work well. It just seems like a waste of resources to me to go with an Asian Wall; plus Japan will eventually take those complexes. If you invest resources in the Atlantic, then the UK should have no problem funneling in troops and fighters to RUS to help hold off the Japanese down the road, and have many more strategic options in the meantime. And Germany is likely completely screwed if the Allies go all out against Germany. I just feel that if you let the Jap’s rush toward MOS and the Allies rush towards Berlin, the Allies will beat them there. I need to try the asian wall sometime and see how it goes. Or face one from someone that knows what they’re doing. Then again, I rarely allow the UK to keep EGY after turn 1.

Mr.G, I must say that’s a great analysis of how to hold if Germany doesn’t attack Egypt and it’s proof-positive of how Germany does need to do that on G1.
