      Yea the dice can definitely determine the winner in some cases. And its completely feasible for the english to take cairo back, if they spread the Mediterranean fleet apart than they should have a cruiser to bombard with, and they can blitz tank into egypt around turn 3 with enough to take it. This all depends on weather Italy did or did not reinforce their garrison at cairo.

      What you said earlier about the transports being helpful for russia, if italy can drop and blitz men into the caucuses and take and control Stalingrad(which is usually un protected), germany can get tank and mech. infantry into position in poland and blitz into leningrad with the assistance of infantry drops and Luftwaffe cover. If italy controls cairo, this means axis control 8 VCs thus giving them victory if they can hold it. I played a game a while back were i did such and it seemed to work out fine. Only difference was england was left unprotected so i only had two transports to drop on leningrad with.

      Yea point made. Also you are correct that the axis will only have 7 VC if they control the european and russian VCs, but under normal circumstances Italy can take Egypt making it 8. I could see that plan working if the axis were to allow a war of attrition that they cant afford, because its the axis’ goal to win the game around turn 6-7. But sometimes they are forced and this would be a completely feasible to liberate a conquered russia.

      How long would it take for the americans to get an IC in iraq?? just wondering because of how far it is away from them and because of that would be seemingly hard to conquer.
      another thing, if the axis control moscow, they should control Stalingrad and leningrad, this would give them 8 Victory cities if they controlled paris and their starting VCs.

      If the germans are attacking russia, the italians (if they control cairo) can blitz tanks and mech. infantry through the territories (such as iraq and persia) up and into the caucuses. on this turn the Italians can usually drop mech. infantry and tanks on Rostov. this surrounds a normally un protected Stalingrad and than take it next turn with force of 6 Mech. infantry, and 2 tanks. This plan assumes that the italians have their two transports and controls cairo and the med. sea. This can be a huge upset for the soviets and cause them to buy on a different front thus causing an unbalance and the germans to blitz for leningrad, which once held can lead to a defeat of moscow. Usually one can also bring in italian fighters if in position. That would mean moving them into a conquered north west persia.

      Yea if germany isn’t threatening sea lion than ipc will be used elsewhere.

      i know in the original rules that it says that on islands may scramble to the surrounding sea ZONE. for the first few games me and my group said you could scramble within the airplanes range. not sure about the alpha two rules though

      I would say that france would benefit the axis because of their first turn fall and their additional income to germany and Italy, this would make the game a 3v2 like all axis and allies games.

      if i were the germans, i would take that back with all cost. This also depends on how well the luftwaffe is doing, because how i would go about doing this is: take the transport, and drop on norway and attack with my air-force. if its available, you should blitz tanks and mech infantry up too norway but it would be a priority to take the IC up there.

      The IC in egypt would keep the Italy economy from growing at all. I mean for only 12 IPC for a one turn payment, than 6 more IPC a turn for two infantry or a tank and the Italians cant touch africa and the only national objective they can get is the Mediterranean one.

      I found this black foam board on a forum recently (cant find the thread) but i went in to walmart and bought some and used Elmers glue to put them in, the finished product looks great, it looks like it could of even come that way.

      yea… your right but usually england has other priorities on its mind than reinforcing Gibraltar, especially if the germans are going to sea lion in the beginning. but you bring up valid points, man

      I found an IPC pdf file some where(forget where) but i could print of as much as i needed and its been far less complicated…

    • How to take africa.

      I recently got my AA europe 1940 and i have played probably three games. in every game the english pull their forces back and pull troops up from their lower territories into egypt. This causes a stalemate in alexandria and egypt. Italy can usually take egypt but with the english minor IC, they can start producing force. just wondering any strategies to take the continent, perhaps build a minor IC in egypt… but for italy it will take multiple turns.
