RE: Finally, what should i do whit italyposted in House Rules
The commi’s did not have any territory they controlled until '44. Remember they if Japan had not invaded they would have lost in '36. Commi’s could be represented by Soviet infantry that start in in China and maybe a Soviet tank. Saying you need another side for the Communists is like saying there should be a player foe the French Resistance.
Splitting up the British empire seems reasonable, but Britain and the colonise should be able to give money to each other, like in A&AP.

RE: Finally, what should i do whit italyposted in House Rules
If Axis & Allies started in '39, '40 , or even '41 I would have much less of a problem with giving Italy it’s own leader.
BUT GUESS WHAT! :?

It doesn’t!
:-oChina is the way to go if you want to add a new country, but just like as if you added Italy it would take some redrawing of the map.
And if you just want to accommodate a sixth player, simply split the US up.

I suppose if the cost of a crusier was sixteen you could have it take two hits though.

New Naval rulesposted in House Rules
Lets face it, A&A naval combat is plain and expensive.
So I took a hint from Imp Games East&West A&A Variant(Game is horrible, but it has a lot of new ideas)Â and adapted them for A&A RevisedDestroyers cost 8, defend at 2 and attack at 2, however when they are in a territory with enemy subs, the subs can not submerge or sneak attack(first strike)
Carriers cost 14
Battleships cost 22New Unit!: Cruiser: cost 10, defends 3 and attacks 3, moves 2(as always)

RE: Poll: What A&A Games do you play?posted in Website/Forum Discussion
I usually play all A&A’s, but recently I have been playtesting my own variants.
I have created one that I feel is very good, the board is a simple marker drawing.
Does anyone have any good ideas for turning is into real board like that of A&A quality.

rjclayton, Axis and allies is not a very tactical game, it is very strategic however. Imperious Leader, you seem to have a lot facts, so correct me if I am wrong,
but weren’t the Germans making most of the strategic decisions for Italy after Spring 1942, the date at which the box says the game starts. And weren’t most of the soldiers fighting the Allies in North Africa and Italy German. And in 1943 after the Allies took Rome Italy switched sides. It seems to me that as soon as Italy joined the war in 1940 they went down hill in terms of military capability. They could not even defeat the French(I mean offense) Greeks!( I don’t mean offence, but soldeirs do not ware tutu’s)
Go here to see a Greek Army Evzone

Good points, but wouldn’t a good way of representing Italy’s poor leadership be to not let them have leadership at all

RE: Finally, what should i do whit italyposted in House Rules
My suggestion to wanna be Italian is play A&A minis.
P.S. If you want to add a 6th player cyan’s idea it does not even require redrawing the map, it is a lot of fun, and gives the axis a chance.

RE: Finally, what should i do whit italyposted in House Rules
The problem with comparing Italy to Japan is that the average Japanese soldier was suicidal in his bravery and Japan controlled much more territory
China is a better candidate because it is stupid for just the US to play them, just because they supplied China with an Air force. Many of the Chinese tanks were Soviet made and crewed, and who can forget about the Burma Road. All the allied counties had an equal roll in finacing the defence of China. And unlike the Italians who had chain of commands which lead up to German officers, Chinese soldiers had there own Chain of command. It is historically accurate to let Germany play Italy, while it makes no sense for the US to play China.

If you want to add a sixth player to the game do not add Italy, add China

RE: Bigmap 1942… any other players?posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
88 you are right Bigmap 1942 is the best balanced A&A game out there. It is even better than the original. There is know reason for anyone to play any other A&A game.
right now I am working on turning this into a board game. I do not who designed this game, but they are a genius. -
RE: Free For All Battle - Looking for Rulesposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
The setup does not need to be fair, its called balance of powers, Germany and the US may have the largest armies and the most income, but that does not mean Japan, the UK, and the USSR will be conquered in a mater of turns. More likely Germany and the US will fight each other and make alliances with the weaker powers in order to gain an advantage. If Japan, UK, or USSR play their cards right they have just an equal opportunity to win as Germany and the US.

Why should you have locked alliances
Make it a free for all game. -
RE: Modern axis and alliesposted in House Rules
Cool variation, but so much of modern war is decided with words
you should add some diplomacy element into it. -

RE: New game coming out soonposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
In the field manual section it says something about recreating any unit in the war you want.
It least a few examples.
