    • RE: AA50 3-D Terrain Gaming Table (COMPLETED July 20, 2010)

      WOW.

I would pay for a replication of that map.

      That 3D map is INCREDIBLE.

I can’t wait to see pictures of it labeled with the cities, sea zones, and countries.

      Unreal.

You should consider making them and selling them.

I would love one of those broken into three sections (like the original AA50 map) with plastic on top of each section.

      Fantastic.

    • Difference between ABattlemap and TripleA? Which is better?

I am new to these, so i apologize for my ignorance.

      Which of these is better?

      TripleA?

      or

      ABattlemap?

      Which is easier to use?

I would like to play against the computer, so I can just play on my own free time.

      Thanks all!

      Thanks, all.

I emailed them yesterday, and got a reply early today, and they’re sending out the tac bombers and new battle strip.

      Sweet!

    • RE: Getting extra pieces?

Hey all, i haven’t posted in a little while.

I’m going to order an AAP1940 today, but was wondering if there are still issues?

Do i still need to email them about a new battle strip?

And do i need to email them about Japanese tactical bombers and mechanized infantry? Will they send them?

One last question, other then that is there anything else that i will need?

There are issues with the instruction manual and game set up??

Sorry for ignorance on the matter, i was reading through this thread, but just want to make sure before i order.

Is the map smaller then the Revised Edition map?

I’m wondering if this game is worth it or should i just go with the original Gamemaster’s Milton Bradley version?

Frank Xeno? Did he create Xeno games??

I’m truly saddened to read that he passed!  :-(

I have gotten game pieces from Xeno games! Quality products.

      I never tried it.

I read about it here, it seems really cool.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have to research more about it.

    • RE: AA42: what I'm looking forward to…

I’m very much looking forward to this game.

I dropped $200 on a new copy of AA50, and haven’t been able to get anyone to play it because it is too large scale.

My friend wants to play a smaller version… and AA42 looks like it will essentially be a smaller version of AA50, a mix of AA50 and AA Revised and AA classic.

I’m considering selling my AA50 now, because i don’t think i’ll ever get to use it. :-(

I can’t wait for AA42, i sure hope it doesn’t disappoint! And i’m sure it wont!

    • RE: Axis and Allies 1942 Edition Fact Sheet ( AA42)

I have had this idea on how to make the Pacific Theater larger scale, despite a smaller map…

If both the Western and Eastern Hemispheres were moved westward, decreasing space for Eastern USA, and increasing the area in the Pacific.

And from there, add some extra territories and add some smaller victory cities in the Pacific, giving the USA and Japan more incentive to fight it out in the Pacific.

Also, and even though we know Italy and China won’t be involved, but they could have made them sub-moves. Italy a sub-move of the Germans. And China a sub move of the Soviets(makes more sense then sub-move of the US). This way, there really wouldn’t be cluttering, and they could still be involved.

    • Tournaments?

What are tournaments like? Are they for all levels of play?

Just curious what the atmosphere is like, and if everyone at them are expert players.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, mods, i don’t mean to be a bother.

    • RE: Going to try to pull the wool over our eyes?

      Consider me anxious.

Maybe i am in the minority, but i am really looking forward to this version, despite AA50 being probably better overall.

I feel i will have a better shot at getting friends to play this version more so then AA50. Because of the smaller scale.

Add the AA50 rules, cruisers, new sculpts, new artwork, i am very anxious for this version.

    • RE: Scan of map?

      Thanks I.L.

If i ever get the time to do this, i will definitely post it up.

I’m thinking of tracing the actual game board map by hand onto tracing paper, then retracing with micron pen, then scanning it, and then in Illustrator doing a live trace to make it vector.

And then from there do all the art work.

If i do go ahead and do this, i would want to paint my game pieces, too.

But i am trying to find good techniques online, because i am reading there are some issues with the paint’s durability on the Axis & Allies pieces.

I wonder if the new pieces that will be in AA42 and the reprint of AA50 will be better suited for painting, if the paint will adhere to the pieces better.

But do not worry, if i were to EVER use any of yours or anyone else work as a base, i would give you/them all the credit.

But i think i will do it from scratch, the good old fashioned way.

      @gnasape:

      @eaglex72:

      This is GREAT news!

I will definitely be getting one.

      Already pre-ordered AA42, too.

A lot of AA games! What to do with all the obsolete versions. I’ll just keep them as collectibles.

      No AA game is obsolete!

AA classic is great if you only have a short amount of time and want to play for fun (with a bid of course).

AAE/AAP is great for more naval and land battles.

AAR is still great to play.

If anything, the extra copies are great for the pieces!!!

I’m thinking I could use all my pieces and play a real game of AA (no chips!) on a giant map, like you see in the war movies with a giant table with the map and units moved around on those stick things (any idea what the proper term is for those sticks; or where I could buy some)?

      LOL

You would need a LOT of space for a board that big, it would be sweet though!

    • RE: Axis and Allies 1942 Edition Fact Sheet ( AA42)

      lol

I have finally fully convinced my friend!

Finally have someone to play A&A with. Luckily, we are both into war history.

I couldn’t convince him on the AA50 version, may be TOO complicated, but Revised Edition he is interested in, and probably AA42 when it is released.

SO i now have high hopes for AA42, since i have now someone to play the game with.

Can’t wait to see some pictures of the game and new information.

Was it true that Larry Harris was not fully pleased with the way the AA50 map turned out? I am wondering if the map will look a little aesthetically different from the AA50 map, even though AA42 seems to be leaning toward the AA50 style.

I wonder how the new naval war rules and new units will work on the smaller map.

I like the idea of no IPC. Just jot it down on a pad. But i wish Italy was a separately used nation in AA42.

This was what i love about AA50 (although admittedly, i never actually played it) is that Italy was playable.

Before AA Revised even came out, i used to post on another message board, maybe this one, i can’t remember it was years ago. But a lot of us were trying to find a way to make Italy a playable nation in the original Axis & Allies. And someone actually made the rule up. And with the World at War expansion, we had the pieces to use for Italy.

This would be my wish for AA42.

Perhaps, someone would be able to find a way to make Italy a usable nation using the AA42 format. Even if it makes the Axis stronger, i like a challenge when playing Axis & Allies.

Great work! wow, that is really nice. I love the work you did.

Is there anyway i could get an un-rasterised Illustrator file version? If it’s OK with you i wanted to make some aesthetic changes to the typography and little things like that?

For my own personal use, not to re-distribute.

Does anyone have a good scan of the full map?

I would like to start making a custom map in Illustrator.
