I think the game being discussed here is Capt. Rick’s Superpowers game, which has been discussed in other threads (such as http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=17524.0).  It’s not related to the Supremacy game that was published twenty-odd years ago.

Stalin also allowed German destroyers to sail around northern Russia to attack Allied shipping in the Pacific.

I personally believe that if the US/UK can drop land units off into Archangel/Karelia the game is essentially broken.  By all means allow them to send IPC aid to Russia, but historically Stalin did not want to share the glory of victory in Russia with foreign troops.

There must be a handicap to doing this; at the very least the turn it takes for Russia to convert this income into units and get them into action.

In a sense, the eastern and western fronts are depicted in different scales, certainly in regard to the numbers of units represented by infantry and Armoured pieces.  If it were accurate, the IPC income and starting units for Russia relative to the other Allies would be significantly bigger, perhaps 50%+.  That’s why introducing US/UK units into Russia can be so imbalancing.

If the Germans attacked Egypt and failed then the british fleet moves though the Suez and sinks the German fleet of Egypt.  With no ability to get further German units into Africa why would you want to build an IC?

If the Germans don’t attack Egypt then they probaby are not a very good player.  If they don’t even use the German fleet to land units into Libya then you should probably be playing a better opponent.

So, at the very least, a poor timid German should have 4 land units in Libya, plus the ability to land 2 more units on Africa on G2 combined with 4 in Libya combined with airforce.  And you plan on defending a newly built IC in Egypt against that?

I am generally against any strategy that goes like this:  “Well, I build an IC here, and all the allies have to do is fly all their planes to the territory and revolve all their plans around defending the IC and it can work!”.

When do the Germans not take Egypt, the only 2 times was when I sent, 2 Infantry, 2 Tanks, 1 Bomber, and a few Fighters, but I did clear out the area, just lost all my units there! Then when I was like the Allies, he “I don’t want to waste units to fight in Africa!” and only sent in the forces in Libya, and 1 infantry and 1 Tank from Southern Europe.

Unlikely imo, although if Germany left Norway totally empty, I think Norway would be secured by some british forces (along with our very few Norwegian soldiers), but if we look at the map, choosing Norway instead of France would mean that the allied forces had to be shipped onboard the ships again and then sail to Denmark, or Northern Germany, or France for an invasion.
Stalin said no foreign soldiers on Russian soil, so the hypothetical invasion force (for Norway) could not move from northern Norway to Northern Russia, south to balticum, and then to Germany. It was definitely most practical to invade France and then move east to Germany.
It would even be better to just send all allied troops to Italy and moving upwards towards Germany instead of invading Norway.
And the Germans treated us “fairly” good, taking the war situation into consideration, I think less than 3000 Norwegians were killed during the war, and that is not so bad if you look at some other countries which were not so lucky, so there was no immediate need to liberate Norway for the intention of saving our civilian population.

The rule as you describe it is from the 1986 edition. The computer game is probably based on that version.

Not to mention that a victory city, Shanghai, is put at risk.

The Germans in 1942 have enough boots on the ground to be able to spend some money on a navy, even if they lost their starting cruiser and destroyer

Oh right. Well for Russias modern map they have 24, minus Kazakh, Ukraine, Belorussia, and West Russia would be in their control as you said, roughly so about 24 I guess, a no that wasnt what I was thinking.

Yes, to upgrade a minor IC to a major IC (cost 20 ipc) the territory that the minor IC is on would have to be worth at least 3 ipc (like Manchuria or Korea). You should keep this in mind if you buy a minor IC, and may want to upgrade it later.

One other thing about Manchuria is that it is Chinese, so the allies can’t build an IC there. Japan can build an IC there (must have control), but if the allies (including China) liberate it then the IC is removed from play. Its kinda bitter sweet though, at least your enemies won’t be able to use it against you.
