    • RE: Should Germany take Brazil G1?

      I think that it is highly likely that the Axis will control Sudan by the start of G3, giving the bomber a safe place to land

      @Corbeau:

      The transport being in the far south atlantic does not need escort, short of Germany moving bombers in France or fighters in Africa. ( But you can see it coming way ahead. )

      It’s pretty rare for Germany not to station a bomber in France, especially since it will force you to spend money on additional covering fleet, while still being in range of the Russian front and North Africa

      I believe ADS stands for “Automated Dice Server” or something similar

      @a44bigdog:

      I voted maybe as I have not give it much thought. I really would rather take a stab at Egypt.

      And a + 1 Karma for thinking out of the box.

      So do we send -1 Karma because he n00bed it up  :-D

      Well said HolKann

      I guess both sides just need to accept that there is a difference of opinion and leave it at that

      I’m with Buggo 100%

      I strongly prefer LL, however due to lack of community interest, I usually end up laying ADS.

      ADS is a fine game too, and competitive play in a league style system should result in the best player should end up on top at the end of a season (playing many games will tend to “normalise” the dice variance).

      I think for a smaller scale event like a single elimination tourney, then the “best” player from the player pool will very often not win the tourney.

      I mean, it’s pretty easy for a slightly “worse” player (say 5% worse) to get a 6%+ variance in the dice results which will be enough to knock out the better player.

      I know that my opponent and I were pretty evenly matched in Round 2 of the S01 event and I had one turn where I hit with 3/4 AA dice which I believe was the main determining factor in our game.

      It is FALSE

      The NO bonuses are paid only during the collect income phase of a turn.

      I suggest you download the official ERRATA & FAQ document

      If you have $120 to spend, chances are you’ve won the game anyway.

    • RE: USA fight japan and germany?

      I have played a lot as the Allies and as far as I’m concerned the jury is still out.

      I can say that you can defintiely justify dropping at least a sub a turn in the pacific because holding Hawaii and the island NO is worth +$6 to you and -$1 to Japan. Also it may force Japan to buy Destroyers if he (or she – sorry Jen) wants to deny you the $6 and he’d rather buy ICs and land forces to pressure Russia.

      I often find that a 50/50 spend gives you enough to control most of Africa (denying Italy Algeria but not Egypt) and at least delaying Japan in taking your Pacific islands, Australia, New Zealand etc.

      The problem is a 50/50 spend seems unable to penetrate into either Europe or Japan’s starting islands/Dutch East Indies, which means to rely on Russia or the UK to actually “win” you the game.

    • RE: Best attack

      Both attacks ($80 on BMB or FTR as above) round off to 100% in fact.

      Oh Yeah, here is a fundamental flaw from the OP yuo can’t argue against

      11 BMB 1 ARM 1 INF = 140 IPCs (not $130)

      So if mobility is key, how about with the extra $80 to spend, I add 6 BMB 1 INF 1 ARM (or 8 FTR) to the original unit mix.

      I don’t have a dice sim handy, but I’m sure the win % would be approaching 100%

      @Adlertag:

      @DY:

      Yes, but the original question is ridiculous ….

      Not neccessarily, my friend. If your object is to take the last VC, wich happen to be 4 spaces away from your factory, and win the game, then 11 bombers may be a better choice than 40 infantry. Everything depends. Speed, speed and more speed is vital in this game.

      The question is ridiculous because it’s basically asking if two guys go to the store and one guy has $60 and the other guy has $130, who is going to come back with more in their shopping basket.

      He should compare 2 equal budgets to give a fair assessment.

      As you say, there will sometimes be tactical reasons to choose one purchase over the other, but can’t you see the premise behind the OP has a fundamental flaw?

      Yes, but the original question is ridiculous because it is comparing a single apple with a bag of oranges, and basically asks which choice is more likely to fill you up  :?

    • RE: Best attack

      A fairer question to pose would involve both options spending the same amount of IPCs.

      I can assure you that $130 spent entirely on a mix ground units would fair much better than the 11 bomber option.

      The trick would be to find the optimal mix of INF, RTL and ARM for the $130 budget

    • RE: AA50 NOs

      @hakan:

      A&A is just like chess. The one who study openings best, wins. I am sure that the axis have a good 50-50 chance to win, even without the NO.

      I believe you are incorrect sir. Have you actually played much 1941 yet?

      As someone who has more than 10 games played or in progress, I can safely say with some certainty that playing without NOs is both unbalanced and incredibly boring (because it is just a slow grind to the death for the Axis with little hope on the horizon).

    • RE: Do you play with the Optional Rules from the FAQ document?

      It’s pretty simple really, no need to get into a big argument over it.

      If you think SBR is a good game mechanic, don’t include the escorts rule in your games.

      If you think it’s either too powerful, or bad for the game (or both), then you can reduce it’s effectiveness by playing with the escorts rule.
