      It is cheap so you can’t really expect top quality map/pieces.

      I agree with the OP 100%, well said.

    • RE: My take on LL versus Dice

      DAAK has a pretty good LL system for AAR, it would need some modification for AA50 for reasons mentioned above (changed BB CA bombard rules, changes to sub rules)

      http://www.daak.de/indexe.php3

      I would agrue that for AA50 to BB and CA should fire with the ground forces and subs should only fire separately if no DD present, to reduce the variance.

      DAAK use an SBR table where the attacker loses 2-3 IPCs (50% chance for each) per turn, from your starting cash pool (as in AAR bomber loses 2.5 IPCs on avergae vs AA gun [cost $15 in AAR]) and inflict 2-3-4 (33% each) IPCs damge to an IC in a 6+ territory since bombers inflict on average 2.92 IPCs per SBR vs AA gun. If no AA then attacker loses nothing and inflicts 3-4 IPCs (50% each)

      Different damage tables handle different scenarios (max IPC caps for terrirory value and also with/without AA firing).

      Pretty annoying for F2F games though, I personally prefer LL online but ADS in F2F since the calculations really make a live game drag on for ever and ever.

    • RE: India on turn 2?

      I am also happy to play you in the forums with a 20 IPC bid, although LL rules would be better since “rolling” can always be a factor

    • RE: India on turn 2?

      Funny then that the league bid is FOR the axis!

      Also DAAK has just launched it’s first tourney with a bid for the axis.

      I’m pretty sure most league games are getting non-negative bids for the Axis too

    • RE: Should Germany take Brazil G1?

      I am assuming you want to drop in Algeria anyway.

      Remember Algeria costs the Axis $6 though, which is why 3 trn into Alg each turn with another 2 trn ($14) swapping into SZ12 & 23.

      The added flexibility is that in a pinch you can dump 10 troops into Algeria of Congo if required.

      But yea, if you are running KJF, then Brazil would be better I guess (but less flexible as all you can really do is shuck into SZ23).

      I normally run 60% KJF 40% KIF, which makes spending around $20 a turn on 5 dudes and a tank good, with the little shuck into Congo.

      And if Japan ever takes it’s foot off the gas I can spend around $30-$35 getting enough to fill 4-5 trn in the Atlantic.

    • RE: Should Germany take Brazil G1?

      I never said it was safer than the IC.

      I said having an extra transport or two gives you more flexibility than the IC.

      And I said “when it is safe” you can move from Algeria down into Congo etc.

      @Shakespeare:

      If Germany has paratroopers, can they land in  Brazil, an Allied open territory?

      I cant see why not

    • RE: AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A

      Seems to go against the idea of “risky” if you are guaranteeing the ftr has nowhere to land with 100% certainty.

      Oh well, so long as I know the correct rule for simming purposes

    • RE: AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A

      @Krieghund:

      Only defending fighters get the one-space movement.  In your example, the attacking fighter has used all of its movement, so it’s stuck in the sea zone.  Unless another carrier can be moved there in noncombat movement or the sea zone is adjacent to an IC from which a carrier is being mobilized in the current turn, the fighter will be lost.

      Re risky missions:

      I always assumed that if the only legal landing place for a fighter that has moved 4 spaces was a CV in the same SZ, then you can’t choose the CV as a casualty until the fighter had first been removed as a casualty (because removing the CV takes away any potential for the ftr to land).

    • RE: Should Germany take Brazil G1?

      @Corbeau:

      By German Turn 3, US did not play yet. The transport is still in seazone 22 preparing for it’s first drop. To strike seazone 22 on german turn 3, the bomber need to land somewhere on allied controlled Africa’s south west coast. Sudan is too far.

      You are correct, I guess I should be referring to G4, where you can easily pick it off in SZ23 from France

      Why not just shuck guys to Alg and run an trn down to SZ23 as required (and when “safe” to do so), thereby spending only $7-$14 on extra transports (which give you more flexibility) as opposed to the IC @ $15
