@Matt-Hyra Understood, thanks for the clarification, looks like our UK player made some serious error by losing his supply to the Axis and having Cairo unsupplied!

RE: Multiple rule questions
@Witt Yeah definitely!
In this scenario I don’t believe there are any scout cars or planes in Cairo, so that could mean 1 German infantry will take Cairo as the defenders can’t shoot back or retreat and therefore surrender…
-
RE: Multiple rule questions
Thanks @Witt and @Matt-Hyra for all replies, it’s clear now.
New question that pops up in our game:
What if Cairo is attacked by 1-2 axis units, has 13 units to defend, but has no supply … When you don’t have supply you can’t fire back as defender, and you need to retreat. But you can’t retreat from Cairo? So what happens in this case? The defender stays and needs to be killed by the 1-2 axis units (who will need multiple supplies since it will take a while to kill them all), or are all defender units considered to have surrendered after 1 round of attack? -
RE: Who has received their copy?
@Witt This Dutch member hasn’t received his copy through Renegade but we ordered on Amazon.us (365 Trade from MI was the seller) and had it shipped towards here in 7 days. Paid a bit extra but settled the unease mind :).

Multiple rule questions
So we finally received our copy through Amazon in the Netherlands and we have multiple rule questions we can’t figure out using the rulebook. So if Matt Hyra or Kevin Chapman could clarify it would be well appreciated :).
- How many sea mines can one country buy on one turn and how many can be placed of those in the same sea zone during deployment?
- Can UK buy ships in her 3x 12 RP convoy zones before round 1 or only ground combat troops?
- The US can requisition 1 free French unit of each type (so either 1 infantry or 1 tank) if they control Oran. Do the US have to pay the french RP value for this infantry or tank from their own income? If so what is the advantage for the US to do so since the french attack/def tank values are worse than the own US troops.
- When do you have to declare the target of German anti-tank guns combined with German stuka’s in 1 attack. They both have the targeted attack capability. Can you declare the stuka target AFTER rolling the anti-tank gun or do you have to declare both targets before any dice are rolled?
That is it so far. We probably encounter more as we play along…

RE: Skirmishes and Maneuver on the German/Russian front.
This move by the Russian BB also came up in our game this afternoon. We decided it was not allowed since the rules state that you have to control Denmark to pass.
However we have to wait what the rule book says and if the rule book doesn’t cover this what Krieghund clarifies.

RE: Europe 1940 - National Objectives & Bonus Income
That one is not a true NO of course, but it’s from part 3 of the preview by DJensen. Krieghund also confirmed it by saying it won’t be in the global game.
-
RE: Europe 1940 - National Objectives & Bonus Income
We are playing a AAE40 game tomorrow but unfortunately that will have to be without NO’s unless they pop up tonight… (hint, DJensen, hint :-D).
So far we have the following:
Germany- 5 for denmark, norway, and a neutral or axis sweden.
- 5 for being at peace with the soviets
- 5 for each soviet VC
- 3 for having a land unit in egypt
Soviet Union
+5 for being at war, no allied units on their territories and SZ125 and controlling Archangel
+6 for each original german territory if they have all of their originals- 2 inf in Novosibirsk while being at war with any axis
UK
+5 for getting rid of the subs in the atlanticItaly
+5 for getting all the allied warships out of the med
+5 for southern france, egypt, and greeceUSA
- 30 for being at war
France
- 4 inf when Paris is liberated
-
RE: Germany/Italy and Dutch territories
They would need to take over Gibraltar first and then sail through the big Atlantic…… Not sure if they can pull this off before the USA kicks them out.
-
RE: J1 attack on Russia in Global
And for the infantry pop up……apply to global too?..seems so
No.
Those 2 infantry are free gifts in the Europe game? So you don’t have to pay 6 IPC for them right?

RE: Political Situation Question…
Thanks for the clarifications Krieg. :-)

RE: Political Situation Question…
Now here’s the trick, that’s how you see it, but how did the game designers see it?
The Russian declaring war on Germany if attacked by Japan thing is not quite clear to me. The text can be explained in two directions.

RE: Preview of Axis & Allies Europe/Global 1940
When a major industrial complex is captured, immediately downgrade it to a minor industrial complex. Adjust any damage to be no more than 6.
This is pretty new and unexpected…… :-o
Meaning Germany can forget pumping out a lot of units in France nor producing 10 inf a turn if they can pull off a succesfull Sea Lion.

RE: UK1 @ SZ 95 scenario question
Don’t make the mistake of letting yourself guide by Miamibeach on this one. :-)
By making the attacks as I described against the UK fleet you have a good chance of pulling off SeaLion on G3. G2 is too early IMHO and performing poor attacks against the UK fleet might see your invasion fleet be sunk on UK2 (50% battle is good enough for the UK to leave the Italians and attack the Germans).
However when talking tactics I always reason from optimal play and average dice. And with those two in mind, UK has nothing better to do with her CV and tactical then attacking the Italians in the Med in SZ 95. That’s the topic of this thread if I am correct.
-
RE: UK1 @ SZ 95 scenario question
Germany still has one fighter and five subs to kill a lot of UK fleet. With your BB+CA from the Baltic you can take out the UK CA and French CA in SZ 112. Then you send out 2 subs to the DD+trn fleet and 3 subs + 1 ftr to the BB+CA fleet
That leaves UK with 1 BB, 2DD’s , 1CV and 1 tactical to counter your SZ112 fleet. Your Canadian fleet can’t reach SZ112.
-
RE: UK1 @ SZ 95 scenario question
I’m not suggesting attacking the German fleet without the CV/TAC and DD from Gibraltar…they are key in that attack.
I would never do a Sea Lion turn 3 as Germany…thats what Dani is suggesting.
My attack on the German fleet is: 2BB, 1CA, 2DD, 1TAC, 1CV(4,4,3,3,2,2,0)
vs
1BB, 1CA, 1CV, 2FTR, 1SUB(4,4,4,3,2,2)UK has 3 soak-offs, Germany 2. 50/50 battle from my perspective…this is why I would consider building a SUB rather than an extra TRS as Germany…which would make Sea Lion tougher since as Germany I would have 2 less ground units vs the 9 UK INF.
For the second time I ask you, why do you keep believing that UK will have 2 BB’s, 1CA and 2 DD’s left after G1???
-
RE: UK1 @ SZ 95 scenario question
I see I made a typo too, I meant to ask, why do you think UK has 2 BB’s and 2 CA’s left after G1?
Now, you state that UK will still attack with 2 BB’s, 1 CA, 1 DD…… They won’t have so much left after G1 either.
If the Luftwaffe and the U-boats do their work properly, you have 1 BB, 1 CA, 1 DD, 1 tactical and 1 CV to counter the German SZ 112 fleet making it (4,3,3,2,0) against (4,4,4,3,2,1). Now how are those odds?? Attacking that is playing like my son of 18 months.
Plus you forget that by placing the CV with the French in SZ93 you can shuttle the Egyptian fighter + the tactical you start with to UK on turn 2 to defend against a turn 3 Sea Lion (of course they have to survive the attack against the Italian BB-fleet).

RE: UK1 @ SZ 95 scenario question
Why do you think that UK will have 2 BB’s and 1 CA’s left after G1?

RE: Scramble from UK/Scotland
You give the answer yourself. It’s not possible.
