@ABWorsham4
I dont believe so. They can only attack after Italy has attacked another nation though.

Nice! You certainly have a diverse fleet.
Looking forward to seeing them in action in your videos. -
RE: New Special Unit Ideas?
@GeneralHandGrenade Some of those US BBs look great. A touch pricey for my wallet but maybe one day.
Will you be investing in all of them? -
RE: New Special Unit Ideas?
@GeneralHandGrenade
Yeah I’ll be using the Hood as a Battlecruiser for the British.I do need a new US BB for either heavy or fast.
I was hoping to just use the Vanguard as a British heavy BB for historical sake.
Do you have any home brew special units you keep up your sleeve?

RE: New Special Unit Ideas?
@HMS-Serapis
I was going to use the US Baltimore as BattleCruiser.
The Leander for the British light cruiser. -
New Special Unit Ideas?
Given the wide spread of units now available, does anyone have any idea of how to utilize the different molds for the same units in a more unique fashion?
Examples; given I now have Light Tanks, MkIVs, Panthers, and Tigers for the Germans, I’m going to use the Panthers as a late war Medium tank with the following stats:
A:6 D:7 M:2 $:7
Available: Jan '43
Special: Target Select 1-2 Armour. Blitz.To demonstrate the early weakness of US tank design I’ll use the Grant tank as the first US Medium Armour and introduce the Sherman later.
Grant:
A:5 D:5 M:2 $5
Available: July '39
Special: Blitz
Sherman: As OOB
Available: July '41Not a mold but I like the idea of AVRE British Assault tanks, to give the Brits something akin to the advanced US, German, and Soviet units.
AVRE Assault Tanks:
Stats as either Medium or Heavy Armour:
Cost: +1 to unit cost.
Special: Doesnt suffer the negative effects of Amphibious landings/Crossing river. Max 2 at any one time. No Blitz.I’m looking at a way to utilize the wide spread of British (and other nations) BBs considering I now have: Warspite, Royal Oak, KGV, Hood Classes, and Intend on getting the Vanguard when its released. Any ideas?
Or does anyone have any other home brewed units?

RE: British attack on Belgium
Do you know when the Chinese Civil War expansion will be released?
Can we expect a Video on it?

So to clarify:
The British would pay 10 IPP (one time only) to attack a neutral before getting to War Time Income. Would this money be taken out of the Cash they already have or deducted from IPP collection at the end of the turn?The US would take a 8 IPP reduction on their income which would remain indefinitely but would not continue to be applied. Example: in Jan 1939 the UK attacks Iran reducing the US income (after Japanese Capital ships are built) to 0 for that turn. However once the US starts to roll for mobilization and rolls a 12 on a D12 this is just 12 IPP and isnt reduced to 4 IPP?
Colonial Infantry and Militia can only be built on territories with an IPP bonus. Gibralta and Malta for example must be reinforced from elsewhere and cant “Spawn” units.

@hammertimepower
Are you sure that the US is effected by the minus 8 every turn?
I thought it was just the turn that the allies attack a neutral. -

@DaAweomeDj
Historical board gaming produces the maps and sells them separately.
3rd edition is out in February. -

@Broken-Mortar
Oh I agree it’s a gamble and like any big gamble if it doesnt go your way it’s a bit of a disaster.
But given that I’ve seen Germany take a pretty bulked out France with barely any losses, it’s something to be considered. And when comparing the two outcomes, leaves you in more or less the same place.
However if the rolls do go your way, you can have a pretty effective fighting force capable of independent action in Africa or the Middle East.
Something to consider at any rate. Especially if you fancy trying something different. -

Yes, I’ve just seen a decent closeup of the V3 map. Very interesting. Thanks for the tip.
Makes for a far more interesting situation in East Africa. -
RE: Italian Special Rules/Abilities?
@Slamhelsing
Yeah that seems like a decent trade off. I’d make it that the Allies only choose to intervene after the italian combat move phase is complete.
I think that the Italians should only be able to go after both territories in the same turn though and only if they have annexed Albania on a previous turn. -
RE: Italian Special Rules/Abilities?
@Imperious-Leader
I like the Frogmen idea. I think hitting on an 8 is a bit high. But if they worked similar to the Japanese Kamikaze rules where by you had a set amount to use (say; 4), hitting on 4s/5s, against specific targets (any Capital Ship, Escort Carrier, Battle Cruiser or Heavy Cruiser), in any sea zone in the Mediterranean that has an allied Naval Base of some sort. As long as the Italian player has at least one submarine or air transport/bomber to “deliver” the frog men.The idea being that the frog men are a hard to train unit, wouldnt be wasted on smaller targets and can only operate in the calmer waters of ports in the Mediterranean.

An interesting idea but there would have to be some alternative downside if you take the income increase away from the allies. -
RE: French Strategies for 1936
@GeneralHandGrenade
I do like the idea of securing Abyssinia as a guaranteed Free French redoubt especially if you were going to attempt the “Free French Roulette” strategy that I mention in the alternate take above.
If you decide to effectively pull out and give Germany an easy ride, Lend Leasing a decent force to Abyssinia could give you a head start especially if the 50/50 breakdown of the “Roulette” goes well for the FF. -
RE: French Strategies for 1936
@GeneralHandGrenade
Isnt it almost impossible to send troops to abyssinia. You need an open supply line to the territory and IIRC there are no rail or port links in Abyssinia.
How can you manage to build the supply line and Lend Lease the Troops before the Italians easily overwhelm the territory? -
RE: French Strategies for 1936
@Slamhelsing
Alternate take:
It has been proposed that France could be effectively “abandoned” and many of the forces shipped out to Africa, gambling on most of them becoming Free French.
Most of the forces in France will evaporate once Paris is taken/encircled so in an attempt to utilize these forces to a greater extent later, they could be shipped to sub saharan africa/syria in the Hope’s that these units become FF and can be used as auxiliary forces to shore up the British. The aircraft are particularly valuable in this respect as it would allow the Free French to launch limited offensives of their own against the likes of Italy.
The obvious downsides are that you will be less likely to cause casualties to Germany in the battle for France and a 50% chance that they will all become Vichy anyway.
But given that a German player can engineer their attack to result in negligible casualties anyway and the 50/50 gamble can be partially negated by a good spread in the re-deployment of the Forces it might well be worth a shot given the seductive possibility of having a useful Free French force in Africa in 1940. -
RE: French Strategies for 1936
@Slamhelsing
I find a couple of AA guns can be useful. One in Paris and one in Picardy/Lorraine to ward off/snipe a German aircraft or two can be cost effective.
A good spread of Militia especially in Paris and Lorraine can be good ablative wounds especially when they have a bunker/city bonus, a small stack of Inf and Art in Picardy seems to be a must but is probably just cannon fodder, add a couple of light armour or a Char B to Paris to give you some punch if IPP and time allows.
Having a holding force of inf/art in Bordeux can be a good method of reducing the likelyhood of encirclement but this will come at the cost of Frontier or Paris defences. Bordeux being particularly effective because you will only be engaged by Blitzing forces and thus each wound you inflict will be more costly.It seems the chances of being able to repulse the German attack is slim and would have more to do with bad rolls and luck rather than a “fool proof” strategy. Maximizing the cost to German forces should be your main aim, that is what the above spend/deployment seeks to do.

RE: What is your signature strategy?
@DocSpidey One of my strategies as the UK is to build Navy/Airforce and Infrastructure. A Fleet Carrier in the UK, Fighters in the UK and SA. Bunkers on Egypt-Lybia border, and Hong Kong. Rail Expansions to bridge the gap between North Africa and South Africa. Factory expansion for Sydney and a Minor Factory for Calcutta. AA guns for Malaya and Hong Kong.
Use Anzac troops to reinforce Malaya. Colonial Inf /Militia in Egypt & Hong Kong.With a little bit of planning you should be able to fortify several key locations whilst building up enough Airpower and Naval power to keep parity with the Axis Naval Forces. This should make it difficult for the likes of Japan and Italy to overwhelm defences without significant effort, while you can pick off enemy fleets and weak points in the early years of the war.
