    • Transport question

I have a quick question, if a transport move during the combat move phase, can it load and off-load that turn?  For example, Germany builds a naval unit in sz5, and there are British units there, and they move their transports out, could they load units from Britain to offload into a friendly terroritory?

      Thanks for the answer.

    • RE: Hey, remember that time when….

I have to go with my first game of Axis and Allies, playing Britain, Germany sent 1 submarine, 4 fighters against the British Battleship in sz 13.  Sub hits first round, fighters roll 6s, battleship hits.  The next five rounds the fighters all roll either 5 or 6s and the battleship hits every round except the fourth round.

Too bad that we surrendered the game later, even though we had the economical advantage…  Silly risk players leaving men in Moscow when they control Western Russia, Archangel, and Caucasus.

      1. Unfortunately, no.

      2.  I’m pretty sure that’s also a no, but someone else might want to double check that for me.

    • RE: Axis and Allies Revised: The Bid

Nice article NPB, explains bid very well.

Though Switch, does the allies choose where the money comes from?  Since if I was the allies, I would 90% of the time donate money from America, and if I’m the axis, I would want the money to come from the Soviets.

Thanks for the information, I’m assuming with this strategy, DM, that you also don’t build an India production faculity, correct?

Thanks to everyone for the ideas, and hopefully the class won’t have to Britain falling second turn next time.  Sort of mean, tried to see how the class would deal with Canadian Shield, more or less played to my hands, Britain didn’t build much of a defensive mainland or put fleet into blocking, will talk about it Monday since class was really small on Wednesday.

EOU has an intact program where people can teach classes for one credit, and the only benefit I get out of it is I get that credit at a reduced rate.  But at least I found a couple of new people to play Axis and Allies with since one of the people I normally play is graduating.

    • Couple of questions, wondering people's ideas about them

Well, as my signature shows, I’m teaching a class on Axis and Allies Revised and a couple of questions came up that I’m hoping to answer either tomorrow or next week.

      Assuming no bid

The first one was about dealing with Germany building 5 transports in the batlic.  Russia in this scenario attacked Belorussia and West Russia.  I would build 2 arm, 6 inf with Britain, grab the armor from Eastern Canada, have United States send fighter, bomber and load both transport to the UK.  That should make it impossible to take Britain, and I would make sure that Britain always had enough men to defend, and Russia would push hard since Germany would be down one entire turn of purchasing.  I assume that is the best way to deal with it, but if someone has another idea.

The other question I have a slight difficulty, and that is how would I do an effective kjf strategy.  Unforunately, I’m not sure how to go about it when I have a good German and Japanese player.  I was thinking about having Russia send enough to help protect Sinkang and India, and hold the line at Buryatia, assuming of course that Japanese doesn’t send everything against India, since it won’t hold without sacraficing too much on the German front.  I would have Britain send a little bit to africa, probably turn two, that way, I don’t leave my island into too much danger.  After a couple of landings in Africa, I would try to send the fleet north, to Norway and helping to hold Karelia for the Russians.  US would be making a pacific fleet and building out of a Siankang production facility and I would try to sail out turn 3 ish to Solomons, hopefully join up with the British fleet there.  Then have the fleet island hop, aiming for a production facility in East Indies, that way, I don’t have to worry about my america fleet being reinforced from WUS.  I’m not sure if I send the American Altanic Fleet to the pacific right away or have it land in africa first turn, possibly have it go around the cape of good hope, possibly linking up in East Indies, depending on the Japanese fleet manuevers.  Not sure if this is the best strategy though, any advice would be appreciated.

      Thanks.

I’m looking for a game of A&A revised, hopefully my first online win.

Of course, another learning experience is good too.

Thanks for the clarification, I’ve convinced my teammate so we will be trying it out.

    • RE: Questions about how to do a KJF right.

I like the idea Darth, now I need to convince my teammate, perhaps I should run a game against him, since I’m the one with the board and we won’t be playing them for a little bit. It might work a little better since I may be able to catch him moving too quickly with his Japan.  Just two questions, does the second american transport head toward britain in the altantic?  And does Russia takes back some of the terrorities that it lost to Japan?  I also assume that Germany’s not supposed to get through the British and Russian, line.

I don’t know what the Japanese are going to do, last time we played them, they were the allies and built a carrier and submarine with the soviets first turn.  :?  Though it did kill the Mediterrean fleet with the lost of the carrier and sub, but it wasn’t worth the money lost in my mind.  But they probably will be hitting pearl, china, but I not sure how much losing FIC does to them.  I do like setting up a taking of Borneo with Britain turn 2 if they ignore the transport outside of Australia.  Which happens a lot in my games here at college.

    • Questions about how to do a KJF right.

I’m just how to get a KJF first strategy to work, especially since my teammate here at college wants to try a successful one.  But the two big problems that I see are actually cracking Japan, since it is harder to stop it capital, and how Russia can deal with the massive behemoth Germany baring down on it.

Here’s hoping for some critique of ideas and some suggestions (also note, no bid to the axis)  (my teammate and I will be both playing Russia, I’ll have Britain, and he’ll have the US)  I’m also assuming Germany r1, specifically since that is what the Germany player usually does.

Russia building 4 inf/3 art, I like having a little offensive punch  thinking just attacking West Russia, using 2 inf, 1ftr Karelia, 3 inf, 1arm Archangel, 3 inf, 1 art, 2 arm moscow, and 1 at least 1 art caucasus.  Moving 6 inf into Buryatia, 2 yakut, 2 sinkang, 2 persia.  Germany will probably take Anglo, Karelia, and send 3-4 fighters and sub against the UK battleship.

The UK will be placing a IC in India, trying to hit japanese sub, and probably hitting the sz 59 transport with the fighter.  British bomber will be going to Siankang.  The US will be building an IC in Sinkang however, we not sure on how much should the US put in Navy against Japan.  I’m hoping to convince my teammate to go after the islands with his fleet when it is built up enough.

      My questions I have are
      1)  Do I write off Africa to Germans, and with that much more IPC to Germany, can Russia with less than half of Britain IPCs helping, hold off Germany until Japan is cracked?
      2) What should I do with my indian fleet, try to help the americans?
      3) Does America send anything against Germany?

      Thanks for the help.

      @ncscswitch:

None of you want to try your mettle against last year’s Tournament winner?

Well, if you want a game against someone not in the tournament, I’ll be willing, though I don’t know how to use DAAK, though I’ll be willing to use the forum roller.  I could use the learning experience.

      Blast it, late… oh well.

    • RE: Newbie Experiences!

The first time I played A&A there was five of us, and only two of us had played before.  I played as Britain and on Germany’s first turn he attacked my battleship outside Gibraltar with four fighters and his submarine.  And my battleship sunk everything with only taking one hit from the submarine in the first round.

The Soviet Player just huddled in his terrorities, and when the United States player and I wanted him to attack, he would respond, ‘no my units will die.’  The German player sunk the British fleet turn three with heavy bombers.  I bought Rockets and traded IPC with Germany using my bombers versus his heavy bombers.  The American player couldn’t dedide whether he wanted to attack Germany or Japan.  The Japanese player matched the United States fleet in the Pacific.  We conceded, even though we still had the advantage…

    • Question about transports

I have one question, can a transport move two spaces, load an infantry and another unit, and then offload into another terrority in the same sea zone?  For example, a japanese transport going from Sea Zone 36 and move to Sea Zone 60, load two infantry and unload into Buryatia in one turn.  I think it should work, but the person I’m playing with doesn’t think so.

      Thanks.
