I think it is all about who has the ipcs to spare from existing factory builds. That may be ANZAC, Russia, UK or none of them. It depends on what is happening in each game.

The 3 unit max ANZAC build in Australia can be a constraint if meeting national objectives in the east Indies, in which case a second factory is an idea and options are limited. In such circumstances I have started building bombers, as J is likely to already be on the back foot at land and sea, but might look for a second factory option in future.

6 inf 1 fighter is more common, as has been said elsewhere. It’s still strong enough on its own, and the fighter is far more flexible, especially UK 3+.

I only see/do 9 inf buys when Germany buys transports (plural) on G1, or if you’re super paranoid and Germany saves 30 G1.

      @dondoolee:

-Think I am getting off easy because you “only” role 2 dice for heavy bombers

-Am still filled with wonder by transporting an infantry unit AND ANYTHING ELSE I WANT!

-Still think it is a bit rude and unsportsmanlike to attack Germany with Russia on R1.

Hehe - what a great post.  Yes, I’ve played enough Revised (about 70 games on GTO) and Anniversary that I think all of the Classic stuff is actually expelled from my system.  However, the ones I quoted still resonate with me.  Although with Germany right on the doorstep, it doesn’t seem rude or unsportsmanlike to attack Germany on R1 (which was crippling in Classic, as you imply)  In Classic you had the Caucasus buffer zone.
I’ve got some new ones to add.
      -  I still have urges to attack subs with planes for the free shots.

      -  Still cringe at attacking transports with planes because I might lose my planes and still not hit the transports (actually, I got used to the Anny rule very quickly)

      -  Still have the urge to attack Russia with Germany with all available personnel every turn, especially turn 1, to get that all important Karelia factory!

I find the US/UK vs Japan option (1941) is very viable.  Maybe I am misreading what was said before, but it actually seems more viable to me than a traditional kill Germany first. (I think this is because Italy can liberate/take land and Germany can reinforce it with fighters to defend now, a very significant and major defensive capability!)

America may be limited to 52 IPC or less a round if they go Kill Japan first.  However, England should be making significantly more than the 20-30 IPC they get in a kill Germany/ignore Japan campaign because of the NO in the Pacific, the non-loss of the NO in the Indian Ocean/Africa/Australia/etc, the increased land ownership in the Asian SE and SE Pacific Islands, etc.  Meanwhile, Japan shouldn’t be earning too much either, America could, realistically, be earning near to more than double what Japan is if played right.

      @Funcioneta:

Because winning only because of the setup is even worst than winning only because of the dice  It’s simply too boring playing axis (because their huge advantage), and even if I want win as all the people, I also want have fun

There is something about balance that everyone is wrong about, except you

Can you believe that I don’t think you really mean what you’re saying?

If the bid needed to balance AA50 41 is more than revised, then you would win almost every game, there is no one who will play revised w/o bids.

Personally I’d like to win every game I play, but you don’t like to win

If you really are serious with this, you also think that all the other PBF players on aa.org would like to lose all the games they play against you, b/c they play allies w/o bids?

I’m close to accusing you of trolling……

Typically the longer the game goes on, the better off the axis are as they can bring pressure to Russia much easier than the allies can bring reinforcements to Russia.

2 fig vs the BB on Haw as Japan, or is that move too risky?
Considering that the BB itself cannot threaten Japan yet, I think the risk is unnecessary.
If you are “lucky” you will sink the BB on your first round of fire and lose a DES. If unlucky, you could lose 1 fighter too. I haven’t played yet with Japan, but sending all 4 Fighters seem like a possibility (especially since the figther can’t really be used on the ground)

I love dangerous battles, because they can change the game. I tend to play all-in when my team is doing badly. I remember a game in revised, where Japan had 2 BB, 2 destroyer, 2 transport and 2 AC (4 fighters), i sent my 3 destroyer, 3 BB, 1 AC (2 fighter) and 2 transports

      He defends 6 @ 4
      4 @ 3
      2 @ 1
What were my odds of winning this?
      I had
      3 @ 4
      5 @ 3
      1 @ 1
      2 @ 0

And I won and even 2 fighters survived and 1 BB!!!  Japan Navy was wiped out (so was US navy). But he had 3 IC producing tank and was sending them toward Moscow (so no money to spend for Ships)
I still don’t know how we won that game. I mean, the navy fight was actually pointless. He was on ground with three IC (India, Manchuria and China)

We play with NO’s and tech rolls, and my normal partner and I spend most of the money in the Atlantic. We move the SZ44 off the west coast and build three subs there turn one. Then we usually put one into each of SZ58, SZ52, and SZ46. On the second turn we buy a couple subs. Japan will have to avoid moving unescorted carriers in range of the subs, and will need to use a lot of forces to kill the subs.  If they attack any of the subs, the counter would be 3-4 subs, a carrier, a destroyer, 3-4 fighters and a bomber.

In Atlantic, our plans often change. We either buy mostly transports and link up with the British navy after they take France while helping hold France or we attack the Italian navy.

I like to load the art into the trn, and offload in NZE. try to position it in range of a jap trty like CAR, or like the others suggest, move it out to protect it.

I believe keeping the trn in the area, to threaten against jap incursions, comes in handy, it slos japan down, and provides the UK with income options that they desperately need.  let america liberate afr.

I believe the Allies must invest time and money into Africa in order to win.  IMO the British need Africa.  Not so much for it’s income (since much of the income gained from Africa goes toward maintaining the IC there anyways).  But rather to deny the Italians from becoming an effective threat.

The IC in South Africa allows the British to have an immediate presence there, even with the Italian navy controlling the Mediterranean Sea.
