    • RE: Infantry

almost sounds like advanced 3rd reich, a very old ww2 sim board game. its very intracate, one point is tension levels so that us cant enter the war unntil the game reaches a tension level of 6 i think it is and it goes up and down depending on how the war pans out. the board is huge and is hexagonal which can be good for amphibious assaults(or bad depending on how u take em) but hey it had all the good guys, all the bad guys and even italy  the world championship game of a3r was a quick game w/ a massive invasion establishing a beachhead on england and ended the war by 1941 for a grand total of 7 hrs :D

    • RE: What counrty do you guys go after first? Germany or Japan

surprise :D yeah carriers and smaller craft like frigates if im not mistaken were moved from behind the scenes mop up crews to the front lines, like the uss lexington, the carrier that was set to provide air support for the invasion of japan suffered over 100 hits from kamakazi alone :o gotta love the little ships huh

but yeah germany first, they can do more damage than japan can simply bc it has weaker enemies on either side. annd what does japan have? i rest my case :P if germany screws up through bad strats or bad die to where they can be held by 2 of the 3 start pestering japan w/ the us

    • RE: Take Hawaii

the U.S. will seem to be facing an immenent invasion and may panic. Of course, taking Asia is still your first priority, but with some luck you can seriously disrupt the American effort to enter the war in the Atlantic.

of course u cant even expect a noob us player to be worried of 2 marines on hawaii and if u dont kill off the atlantic force immediately it can be built up, already halfway there starting out :D they regroup on the western coast the invasion thought is halted bc besides the us’s huge economy allowing like 6-7 tanks a turn if u r sorry enough to make it to land like alaska but that sounds like a great overexagerration. i could be wrong, yeah hawaii is the base of ops for the pacific fleet but if it falls they only lose an ipc if i remember right  and u know it will always be there if they want it back

    • RE: When and where was your first game?

nah the name got me  ive always been asocial so never had any friends and the people i ‘talked to’ they liked chess so i got into that really hard and got really good but they never wanted to learn a&a. one of the best high schoolers in the state :D

yeah ww2 was one of the pivotal wars in human evolution whether people admit it or not, showed us how low people can stoop to get what they want.
good example is the beer hall peutsch of 1932 if i remember right, somewhere around there. ww2 really is a fascinating subject to study, i pref it to the new junk :D im old school :P

but hey i had a fun preschool   yeah just bc uve had more yrs under the belt doesnt mean nothing :) i could take ya at ww2 8)

    • RE: When and where was your first game?

hey strangers, my first a&a huh? well unlike yall that didnt know much about the specifics of ww2, ive studied it for about gaa 7 yrs i guess it makes now, almost 8. but when i was 12 i already knew bits and pieces like who the powers were, why each country was fighting and a brief description of the leaders.

passing by a gaming store i saw a&a and was intrigued bc i had studied war for about 2 yrs then and wanted to get it. but i looked down at the price tag and if i remember right it was 50$. so u know how thats like a zillion dollars to a 12 yr old so i scraped and scrounged finally making enough money and bought it. i didnt fully understand the rules at the time but thats ok, i realized i didnt have anyone to play w/ so it collected dust for a yr. :D

then one day passing by i got a&a for the comp finally. so i brought it home and installed it and the first time i played as germany. got raped sooo badly it wasnt even funny. :( i held out for like 10 turns building solid infantry but yeah i died and japan almost took over the us and russia. us had this thing about where they never defended home

but yeah now im 19 and know more about ww2 then yall know about ur own families and good at a&a:D, hope so after studying it for 10 yrs almost

    • RE: Favorite country

russias the best, russia then germany

      good russian strat^_^
yeah ive been raised w/ the whole russia restricted so my whole defense is centered around that. for giving up manchuria or whateer the fringe country is by the end of placing new pieces russia isnt going anywhere w/out a fight. yeah no attacks r made but the japanese can be stopped coming through towards russia for 3-4 turns depending on how he reacts.

      good us strat^_^
hey i agree w/ the cant ignore the pacific theatre. yeah the us is obligated to be the rainmaker to the brits and soviets long enough for them to stay alive. t1 a good way to start is bring ur transport to help take out the afrika korps and pushing ur fighters/ bombers to britian. at the same time if they ignore the japs completely it will be a wild fire thats consumed most of asia, australia/ new zealand and depending on how long germany actually holds up africa. ive played tons of games and deeply disheartened saying the faulty us strategy of keeping away from the pacific theatre.
they americans had a lovely plan during ww2 called island hopping, worked out quite well if i remember right. the sub strat was was good but what u can do after that is 2 battleships and 2 loaded transports island hopping in about 3-4 turns.

ill answer any ?s if ya have any^_^
