      You only need to move the carriers there if you have to land planes on them.

      In order to move the planes into combat you first must show your opponent that you can make a legal landing spot with your carriers by moving them into position on non-combat movement phase. If the planes survive combat you must move the carrier(s) to land the plane(s). If the planes don’t survive you can choose to do whatever you want with the carrier(s).

      Even a lone transport can

      In AA50, enemy subs and transports can be completely ignored, as long as you don’t engage any of them.

      (If you attack a sub/transport combo with a fighter and also try to land there amphibiously, the sub can sink your transport.  You can’t pick and choose what to ignore within a single zone)

      The only time it didn’t work for me was when my dice went sour on G5 & G6 going into Russia, But the following week it worked and everybody was rolling better, I have yet to try it with the latest 3.9 rules. So much depends on good rolls at key battles and being able to work as an Axis team.

      Hey guys and gals.  I don’t remember who I downloaded this map from (much thanks) but I took some time and found naval markers and airbase markers.  This is setup on my site so downloads should be easy.

      Just right click and save link as.  You can view it in Internet Explorer.  Not Firefox (don’t know why at this point).

      Let me know if you have any issues.

      Very interesting.  Always seem to be learning something new about this game.  We have always gone on the assumption that until the US is actively at war, they can not land troops or planes on an Allied country because they are not technically Allies yet.  Of course, once the USA is dragged into war on either side, they DOW on all Axis anyway so they can land anywhere that is Allied.  We’ve never had a game where USA did not DOW on all the Axis.  Still, an interesting theoretical problem.

      Thanks for your answers kcdzim.

      @suprise:

      Page 18 of the Euro rule book and page 16 of the Pacific rule book
        My interp. of this is 1 sub, 1 carr with 2 planes. the sub gets a hit what happens …… the carr is tipped and the planes are in the air  if the sub does not fire a second shot then the planes need to land within their movement allowance. If you had 2 subs and they both hit then the carr would go down  I would say the planes would get away because subs cant hit air units
        Those two pages answer the Q’s for me

      The movement allowance is only one when defending. The planes would need to land on an adjacent island, coastal tt, or friendly carrier w/room on board.

      @Commando:

      You/your group can wait for Krieg to make an official ruling if you like but I guarantee this is backed up by the rules.

      This is covered in the Official Rules Clarifications.

      @knp7765:

      Actually, if your attacking transports are confronted by scrambled fighters (if you had no other attacking units), then your transports wouldn’t be automatically sunk.  They would have to retreat to SZ 126 with all the land forces STILL ON THEM.

      Yes, but the scrambled planes would get one round of fire against the transports before they could retreat.

      It is a moot point, and I stand by it.

      By your situational irony scenario’s, lets say Japan declares war on Russia the turn Germany takes Moscow.  After Germany takes Moscow lets say USA takes Germany/Berlin on the same turn!!  Uh oh!  The allies just wasted a good chance to collect the IPC’s Russia had, BUT, by YOUR method, the bonus totally goes down the crapper and is a MOOT POINT.  Because if you’re talking about taking capitals with ease to a point of if Moscow falls so easily than Berlin can just as easily get taking by USA/UK to get that bonus back.

      Pelanderfunk, it doesn’t matter in your game.  It could actually work against Germany.  He see’s that 12 IPC go to you, and Germany could make a risk that he shouldn’t.  Either way there is no reason not to give the bonus right away.  Played enough games of global to forget many things, and waiting to give Russia money would be one of them for sure!

      Kevin was succinct, but to elaborate if I understand properly:

      Transports by themselves, never block enemy movements. This means yes, you can have one ship move into the transport sea zone during combat moves and send other ships through that zone to other zones during combat moves. Or you can ignore the transport and move through it during non combat moves.

      Remember, killing a transport is a naval battle in that zone. This will prevent any coastal bombardments from that zone as a naval battle existed.

      your board is very shiny

      I  guess you are refering to my board. It is covered with a plexiglass sheet. Protects the game board and keeps it in place.

      Keeps coffee and beer stains off I guess, huh?

      Yea, that would help.

      I’m not thinking it possible to take England with Germany.  Not early in the game anyway. (Defined = First 5 rounds of play.)

      No, they can also be used in regular sea battles.
