@Ichabod Look again. There are two views: the zoomed out view and the zoomed in view.

The zoomed out view has the chits and the zoomed in view has the 3D pieces.

I thought we wanted it to be a recruitment center instead…can we build factories in this version? I forget but I also haven’t ever done it that I recall (in 60 games).

Ok, so it looks like the featured map is something I have never played on, from whatever version that is, but my question is, as this is a computer game, are all other maps/rules included?

It’ll be an adaption of 1942 second edtion only.

And concerning Steam see https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/33022/technical-question-aao-and-steam/

My Transport rule suggestion. I do have most of this for my transports.
D6
A0
D@1 plane only.
C6
M2
ES @1
Any planes in a naval battle with defending transports.
Can take transport as a causality but loses the D@1 against a plane.

No planes in a naval battle can’t take transports as a causality.

Lone Transports against Ships and planes. The attacker has to kill the transports .
Non of this cop out crap with lone transports all dead. WTF. They can escape.
This will prolong the battle at most 5 mins. This only happens 1-4 times in a game.
A transport gets a D@1 plane shot if killed if there is planes in battle.
No planes then the ship or ships have to kill the transport.
Now the transport only gets a escape roll if he survives the round of attack.
No escape roll for a sub FS.
2 Dest and 1 Sub attacking 3 lone transports.
Attacker rolls for 2 dest a 4 and a 5. both misses.
1 sub rolls FS shot of a 1. I killed transport. No escape.
Now the 2 transports roll for escape and get a 1 and 6.
1 transport escapes to another sz or stays in same sz and then next round of combat
the attackers only get to attack 1 transport.
Works great in my game. We ave 2-4 transports surviving per game. But it gives you more options to use transport
in naval battles.

The scale is the thing that most bedevils me.

I was recently watching some commentary on house rules from Lion in the Trenches, who was reacting to suggestions that he place an Austrian cruiser in the Sea Zone off Tsingtao in his Global 1914 customization. He made the point that a single Austrian cruiser doesn’t scale with the squadron or fleet implied by the corresponding game piece.

By my estimate, Global 1940 models ground units at the level of army corps, naval units at the level of fleets or task forces, and air forces at the level of wings. There are a handful of exceptions for colonial detachments, such as the two starting British Infantry in Kwangtung (Hong Kong), which stand in for about 14,500 defenders historically. India’s potential as a source of colonial manpower is significantly curtailed by the British Empire’s income problems, and Australia often explodes in production by the end game (win or lose) even when their national manpower pool and industrial capacity would never have allowed it.

In my opinion, scale should be balanced rigorously against the opportunity for fun gameplay. In my Global War games, I always add a French Infantry in Indochina, for example. There is also a clear movement in favor of bulking up the Dutch presence in the East Indies when games of Global War are played, and many players prefer to give the Italian fleet-in-being a fighting chance with set-up variants to blunt the Taranto Raid.

I’ve used Google Translate for many things, including learning entire languages. I was also just kind of teasing.

Either way, the TEXT of the rules creates alot of problems for regular english speakers. The RULES and the TEXT that tell you what the rules are are two different things. If someone can just explain how to play, then all those annoying and carefully worded RULES TEXT can be avoided.

I’ve noted that most of the AXA playing world is english speaking–that is to say that most of the people are from english speaking countries, and the handful of the rest are from countries like denmark, holland and norway, where many people learn english in high school.

Would caution that the sender’s perception of what “worked well” will differ from the recipient, and you’ll quickly find that for all the talking, little communicating is going on.

@Slip-Capone We played two games of Guadalcanal. Which is super fun and underrated. Introduced Axis & Allies 1941 to a group of first timers. And started a game of Battle of the Bulge but had to pack it up before it was finished.

Yes, infrequently. Load can be caused by things like forums searches, crawler bots, etc.

I find that if I click on a bunch of articles at once, so they can load as I read other articles, I’ll get that error. If I load 1 new article as I read another 1 from before, I don’t get that error.

I tend to read things on the internet that way - load up all of the sites to read today, or load up all of the “new” messages and then read them one-at-a-time. On this site, I often find that approach backfires with 503 errors.

@taamvan Whoops. I was at work when this was all going down. Sorry I missed the boat.

Agree with Black_Elk though. I’ve been playing all my games on a PBEM-basis. I just don’t have 3-4 continuous hours of free time to sit down and play out a full game live these days. Best I can manage is like 1-3 moves (countries, not full rounds) per game I’m in a day.

You mean you want to predefine “None” in these settings …
hp1.png
hp2.png
… with

https://www.axisandallies.org/

?

I think this would be most intuitive for the users, as this would maybe be the expected behaviour.

As of now the logo links to the identical view as the “categories” button categor.PNG next to it.

However it would make the home-button homebutton.PNG redundant. So this one could be removed, then.
