      @djensen Despite the success that doug and I had in the tournament with the allies, I’m about 50/50 in my allied games, and about 75/25 for my axis ones. Dave Marts devestated me repeatedly in our practice games with the axis.

      The axis plan is simpler than the allied one and you can make more mistakes

      casualty order seems to be a negative for the allies with their more complex sub submersion tactics and carriers vs fighters being lost on the retreat

      no allied planes on carriers hurts allies much more than axis. Axis can land planes on top of each other on land more than they need to use each others carriers

      also how would we verify results if they are not recorded automatically?

      We switched providers and so far email is getting through to the Microsoft email providers!

      Unfortunately our new transactional email service has an issue sending to Hotmail/Live/Outlook email addresses and it’s unlikely anybody will fix anything. If you use any of these email addresses here, please use another email address.

      I think the issue here is less the being able to place units you buy, and more the exploits that become possible by buying a unit you never intend to place.

      For example, if I buy a CV on a UK turn, I can hypothetically fly a FTR from Moscow to attack a German Navy in the Baltic Sea, even if Karelia/Norway/Germany/Poland/Baltic States are all German-owned, because I can hypothetically land those FTRs in the SZ adjacent to the Baltic Sea and UK during NCM. However, as is, I can carry out this attack even if it’s a blatant suicide mission, because as soon as the FTRs are dead I am no longer obligated to place the CV I bought earlier, meaning I can save placing it for next turn, effectively giving UK 14 free IPCs towards their next naval purchase and denying Germany a chance to pounce on a vulnerable CV for free value.

      EDIT: Thanks for the clarification @JuliusBorisovBeamdog. Glad to see you and the team are still working hard at making improvements. The game has come a long way since launch quality-wise and I’m sure everyone here appreciates the continued dedication.

      EDIT #2: I guess what I’m saying is that the purchase system should be left as-written in the rules. Players should be punished for bad tactical decision making. Otherwise all games would just come down to a combination of luck, basic knowledge of the map being played, and which side the map being played is biased towards. It’d be more of an exercise in optimization than an actual game.

      If I have multiple choices for movement into battle, I should be allow to chose my path. The reason being that I might want to retreat into a different territory than the one that the software has automatically chosen for me.

      One thing I would like to see is a way to see the match up during Combat Move before I complete the phase.

      Clicking on the territory show not only what is already there but also what units you are moving in. In the Combat Move summary, show the match ups. The current screen (below) is useful but if I had the defenders in there too, I can review it an “Make Changes” when I realize I don’t have enough units for a battle.

      It has been clarified progressive “column” rolling was the process for Classic 1st and 2nd editions, but not for Classic 3rd edition, and for no Axis & Allies games thereafter.

      Hi Dave,

      Just got back from camping and I can play you a game or two before Gencon. I have downloaded TripleA and checked and updated my email for the dice server. Took me a bit to find the right map… Question? How do I set it so that it doesn’t count NO’s? I know that is how it is played at Gencon but how do you set it up in TripleA? I havent played a pbem game in a year or with the new forum so bear with me but I can get a couple of turns in-in a day.

      I’ve seen questions about clicking topics and how to get to the end of a discussion. There are a few things to know about topics and navigating to posts.

      Pick up Where you Left Off

      First, the forum keeps track of where you left off reading for every topic. If you’ve never read a topic then clicking the topic title will take you to the first post. If you scroll and make it to post number 26, then the next time you click that topic, you’ll start on topic 27 (if there are 41 posts then you’ll still be sent to #27 so that you can read 27 thru 41)

      I don’t know why the gif isn’t animating but if you click the title, scroll a few posts into the topic, go back, click the title again, you’re exactly where you left off.

      You need to be logged in for this to work.

      Jump to End from Topic List

      Next, just like the old forums, you can jump to the last post of any topic by clicking on the date in the last (far right) column of each topic. The links are highlighted in yellow below

      While you are reading a topic you can also jump to the end or the beginning very easily. A the the top of a post in the title bar there are some navigation controls.

      Double arrow up: first post (circled in yellow below)
      Double arrow down: last post (circled in orange below)

      The single arrows are basically page-up and page-down.
