Yanny, I did a report for school on Nuclear Power (sucked) and I believed that we should switch to nuclear power before I did research. First of all, there are the costs of building a nuclear power plant. Second of all, there is a problem with waste disposal. I agree that Chernobyl and Three Mile Island were accidents, but accidents happen all the time. The World Health Organization estimated that the Chernobyl accident released 200 times more radioactivity than was released by the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In conclusion, nuclear power has warped nation economics and energy sectors, created disincentives for research and investment into more environmentally benign energy forms, and created a legacy of radioactive waste for which there is currently no acceptable technical or political solution. A new energy deal to meet the legitimate energy needs of many countries should replace the outdated and dangerous promotion of nuclear technology with large-scale promotion of renewables and energy efficient technologies.

Two good points Mr Ghoul. First off, I cannot say that I agree with bending the rules in war time. Rules are rules. Second, I guess that killing a person for the better of society would be fine, but what about the innocent people? If a life was yours for the taking, then what’s the point in life itself.

It is mindless nationalism that starts arguments like this. Canada is great. The U.S. is great. They both have things to work on that can improve them but there is no need to cause such a strife over an accident. War makes you think differently. I know that if I were patroling and heard gun shots that weren’t my platoon, I would fire back. Sometimes you don’t have time to evaluate a situation and respond appropriatly. Although the only thing that is timeless is time itself, it can either work for you or against you. This is an example of against you.

I can see what you are saying about having enough hard evidence to convict someone. But when there is a lack of hard evidence, then the death penatly should not be a choice. I also agree with yourbuttocks. The death penalty is not used only against predators but against everyone convicted. Also, if someone kills another person by means of the death penalty, is that not murder? How can we bend our rules for certain situations.

Le Pen vs. Chiracposted in General Discussion
Despite the fact that Chirac whooped Le Pen in the votes, I was wondering what you think would happen if Le Pen was president.

That’s what I meant to comment on instead of what came out. The women and homosexuals are treated differently. Once again, sorry.

I don’t like the military at all. Although I must admit they have done some good things, how can someone say they are going to save lives and end up taking them. But since the topic of this forum is what you think about the military, I will digress. As long as you are human, you should be allowed in basic training. Women, Men, Homosexuals; they can all do something for our country. If they cannot do something then they don’t belong in the military. No one is free when others are being oppressed; even in their own homes.

RE: Physician Assisted Suicide (kevorking)posted in General Discussion
Suicide is worthless. I would much rather die in pain and suffering with my courage and honor in my hands than to pull the plug and have my courage and honor flushed down the toilet. There might be a few occasions where PAS might be justified, but there are too many justifications to be made. If suicide were the answer to everything, we would all be dead and all knowledge would be obtained without having a chance to use it.

In my opinion, one would suffer more with life in prison than death. Think about it. Would you rather live in a confined place with limits on your life, strip searches, and rapes, or would you rather die. Im no homophobe but id like to keep my bum hole as tight as possible. If people wanted to live in prison so bad, the people that arn’t already there would attempt to be there and the people already there wouldn’t be attempting to break out.
