Which in turn can be corrupted and bribed to kill thousands of innocent people by detinating a manual over-ride when it’s not needed.

Ah, I see now. Thanks for noticing the screw up on the typing. Being an insomniac sucks on educational forums like this.

There are literally hundreds of safeguards in a nuclear power plant. If you wanted to overheat the reactor, you probably couldn’t.Computers can run computers easily if everything is standardized.
If anyone wanted to cause another nuclear disaster by any means, then it can be done. As far as everything being controlled by computers, one could hack a system quite easily. It’s not that hard. So a computer running the nuclear reactor all of a sudden crashes, and so does the backup server. “Pop quiz hot shot,” what are you going to do?

I hope by weak you mean militarily and population-wise. As I’ve stated before, Canada’s a peacful nation and has no need for a large standing army. I’m also thankful for the low population, I wouldn’t want to deal with that many people. That is indeed what I meant. I love Canada.

So wouldn’t a scientific be a realist and a Utopian be a romanticist?

Human error. The new nuclear power plants will probably be run by computers, but who runs those computers? Humans? Most likely. Computers can’t be run by computers, which in turn are run by computers. Eventually, there is a human involved and there is the risk of disaster.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but Canada is quite weak. I am a former Canadian and since I moved to the U.S, it is appearent. But in my mind, I’d live in Canada sooner than I would live in the U.S. I hope I am not offending anyone, but I feel the need to speak my views.

IMO, the Americans knew enough to make an attempt to stop it, but most sightings and alarms were just ignored. Then it happend and boom, we are in the war.

No, that is why I am opposed to suicide, abortion and capital punishment. Killing someone isn’t the best answer we can think of.

I would exect strife, confrentation, and disagreement, but I would expect it to be solved in a civilized way; not through physical punishment. As far as racism in our own society, I disagree with it. If I disagree with it in our own society, one cannot expect me to agree with it in another.
