    • RE: The Existence of God

      When you take fossils, the tree of animals, dna and micro-evolution; you get a pretty solid argument for evolution, and against young earth creationist (again, not against old earth creationist, you can only refute their claim by refuting god).

      Microevolution does support my claim. Take the laws of thermodynamics. One of which says that everything is degenerating. Micro-evolution comes from mutations. Mutations in these bacteria lead to more virile forms of diseases, which is a degeneration of bacteria. How can millions of years of mutations not lead to complete degeneration, or close to it? How did the mutations keep forming better, more intelligent species? I still hold up the fact that older fossils were found under “younger” fossils. BTW, I’m looking for the info I had on that. Believe or not, I never thought I would be involved with debating like this, so I didn’t write down every reference I ever had. But I haven’t forgotten whoever’s request it was for a reference of where I got this info. As for the animal tree, all I can say is that someone’s mind was pretty creative. And since I know you’re expecting this, I’ll say it. “Maybe God just wanted to use similar parts on all His creations.” :) Hey, I don’t have answers for everything yet.
      Oh, science is based on observation, right? Just clarifying.

      @yourbuttocks:

      YOung people have this invincible feeling and believe that anything mundane like the government does not affect them.

      Yeah, and they’re the ones I feel sorry for. I prefer not to say my age, but I’m young. I know government does affect me. (I live in California so believe me, I know it affects me. Their attitudes sicken me. They’re going to be the ones who, as adults, stand around after an election (that they probably didn’t vote in) saying, “Wha-, What happened?” Anyway, no word could possibly describe the extent of my disgust. :x

      @F_alk:

      @dIfrenT:

      they don’t have time to tick off the others because they want everyone to be “equal.” And their definition of “equal” is not that of equal opportunity. they don’t believe in having those with less work to get more, so they take it from those who earn it.

      Is “equal opportunity” to give the dwarf a ladder so he can reach the apples in the tree???

      Your point exactly, F_alk?
      I guess that pretty much is equal opportunity, but i’m not sure if i’m reading sarcasm into that that isn’t there. Equal opportunity gives everyone a chance to better him/herself. If people are too lazy to do it for themselves, why should the government make us support the bums? I can understand helping out those who really can’t fend for themselves, but it’s not the government’s job to do things that the people can do for themselves. That’s what makes big government, which makes people mad. People have lost the initiative to help others over the years because they gave the responsibility to the government. And I’m guessing we all know how responsible the government is, right? Equality is what the Democrats typically tout as one of their main goals. But they mean that everyone should share everything else, so no one is better off than anyone else. A basically socialistic policy. Our current welfare system is an example. There are people on it who aren’t motivated to get jobs because they’re getting practically free money. Granted, they’ve tried to reform it, but it’s not enough.
      In short, equal opportunity and equality are not the same. The former takes initiative and responsibility while all the latter requires is laziness and the ability to sponge off other people.

    • RE: North Korea

      i think there are americans who are nervous because of noise, americans who are nervous because of silence, and those who are nervous because of both. i’m not nervous, more like wary. i think a lot of every day life can be applied to world affairs. for example, my elementary school experience (forgive any naivete that may come across). the bullies that picked on me were one of two types. those who were loud mouths, and those who “flew below the radar.” the big mouths were more likely to get in trouble with the teachers and were being watched more closely. eventually they could not pick on me anymore. the ones who were subtle had fairly good reps with the teacher, so they got away with bullying.

      my warning is to watch out for the subtle bullies. don’t be anxious and jump at every shadow. that’s dumb. like crying wolf. no one will believe you after a while.

      if anyone wants Davis (i have a nickname for him but it might offend people) for governor they need to be sent to a shrink. that’s my opinion and it’s not gonna change, no matter how many people take offense.

    • RE: The Existence of God

      “God” is not a good exemple [sic] himself anyway…

      since this is actually a debate about the existence of God, you just acknowledged Him. if not, you should find a better way to express yourself without contradicting yourself. just a heads up. more mature Christians than I could go farther with this. and God is a good example, but people make Him a scapegoat. He never has, or will ever make a mistake. the problem lies with us. but if you don’t believe you make mistakes, there’s no need for God. our very basic difference comes down to this: I believe the Bible is God’s word, you don’t. There is no way you can convince me that the Bible is not true, or that the King James Version has fallacies. So proving the existence of God would not change your mind anyway. You still wouldn’t believe because you don’t believe the Bible is God’s word.
      btw, i do believe that dinosaurs existed, and that after the Flood they were unable to survive. weather conditions and the fact that people started hunting.

      i’ll concede that a lot of them behave dumbly. they aren’t taught to use their heads. the veg on the tv, listen to music (really REALLY loud, which may contribute), and play video games. but surely you must realize that some of us use our head, otherwise we wouldn’t even be writing on this forum. besides, this isn’t even on topic. i’m done. if you won’t think this through (which, btw, isn’t smart - the opposite of which being…nevermind enough said), then nothing i can “say” will convince you.

    • RE: The Next Super Power!

      Of course youngsters are stupid, they think they can change the world only by protest. What percentage of young adults vote again?

      Please tell me if you’re just joking. Insults to youngsters should not be generalized, it derides my intelligence because there are (hard to believe as it is) intelligent youths. and I would vote if i could, boy in this last CA election I was dying to vote. ah, so close and yet so far. :x

      anyhow, a lot of these countries not only stopped expanding, they ignored internal problems. the USA will fall if it keeps trying to help out the unfortunate people in other countries while not changing anything within itself. i agree that at some point the US will fall, but not in the typical sense that a completely different, new country is instated. right now, people are pushing for a “global community”, which is, IMO, nothing but crap. the UN is nothing but a vehicle for that to come in on. but that’s another topic so i won’t go there. the US will be made a part of “one big happy family” :roll: that’s how we’ll fall. i hope i’m not here for it.

    • RE: The end of the world

      to your question CC, i’m pre-millenial. i’ve read revelation a few times and daniel. pre-millenial is the only one i see that fits the references to end of the world as it is now. i agree that the question did seem " ‘co-incident with human~~.’ " The way i see it, and i hate to put it this way, even if the world did end with the “simple” passing of humans and not Christ, i’m still in good shape. but if you all are wrong, you’ll suffer the consequences for eternity. :-? sounds harsh, i know. i might be offended by that if i wasn’t a Christian, but it makes sense. I’m convinced the earth as we know it now will only be ended by Christ’s return, not by an explosion/darkening of the sun or greenhouse effects. btw, i do believe the sun will be darkened at one point because it is pointed out in revelation, so you all can revel in the fact that you’re right on one point. :wink:~~

      I like california’s climate, but its going down the drain so fast i might look for another place of residency. especially if guys like Davis keep getting elected. There are other places where the weather is fairly decent.

    • RE: The Existence of God

      there’s not really any overwhelming evidence. most dates are found by carbon dating, which is nothing short of unreliable.
      creationism can be applied to crime as well. Creationism involves God. The first two humans (Adam and Eve) did not obey His only restriction, and that is why they were cast out of the Garden of Eden. after that first act of disobedience people did wrong. (of course if you don’t believe in absolute truth there is no wrong).
      what can i say? i don’t think that i alone will be able to convince you to change your mind, but these online debates sharpen my mind. i don’t have many opportunities to be involved in these “conversations” at my school or even where i work (since i don’t have a job).
      and in response to:

      When evolutionist predict they would found a whale with legs, they did found it !
      they also found younger species below “older” species, but they prefer not to publicize that, right?
      and evolution can be refuted, and 6000 year old earth supported. if the earth/universe was millions of years old, the moon would be miles of dust deep. the volcanic deposits would be greater on the earth as well. to say that a young earth cannot be supported is, in my opinion of course, is like saying evolution cannot be supported. neither can be absolutely proved, but a young earth is better supported.

    • RE: California Governor

      I think both sides have their share of defects. that’s why choosing between them almost always ends up being a choice of the lesser of two evils. I like the American Independent Party. they reflect more of my views. It stinks that getting a third party member has proved pretty much impossible. As for the illegals with driver’s licenses, he didn’t pass that, which may the latinos mad. i’m latina and i wasn’t offended in anyway. giving people who are here illegally some of the same rights as citizens is tantamount to shooting yourself in the foot.

      @FinsterniS:

      I think there is not much people (at least not people with some education) that will claim evolution does’nt exist at all, but some think an anthropomorphic god is needed.

      I have “some education.” And I will accept that micro-evolution has been proved. However, macro-evolution has way way too many holes. It goes against too many scientific laws. And I am a strict Creationist, not a theistic evolutionist. I don’t believe that God left the world to develop itself.

      @Field:

      I’ll accept most of the evolutionary “theory”. It is clearly not exactly the “truth” as well. However here in this case, the truth is far more elusive…

      What part of the evolutionary theory do you accept? The part where supposedly older species are found above the younger species? Or the part where a intermediate species of homo sapiens was constructed from a pig’s tooth?

    • RE: We should not attack Iraq

      ironically enough, a liberal government should in theory do fewer stupid things to piss off other nations and go war-mongering about, pissing everyone else off, thereby less likely to require increased safety in the country.

      the only reason it seems this way is that liberals (i.e. Democrats) are too busy pushing their economic and socialistic policies. they don’t have time to tick off the others because they want everyone to be “equal.” And their definition of “equal” is not that of equal opportunity. they don’t believe in having those with less work to get more, so they take it from those who earn it.
