      @Imperious:

HUH? no Kursk?  Market Garden? El Alamein?

I prefer early scenarios… although I love Krusk, but I lack a number of tanks to make it interesting… panzer III & IV’s r relativly cheep to get so I can build in mass  Der Leiter has done a gaint Krusk battle… very nice pics too! My playing group lacks enough T-34s (but im working on that!) I will defently run this campain when I have enough units!

As for El Alamein… well thats true I dont see many campains on this one, but we are missing some British tanks nessary. I want some Mitilda tanks!

Market Gardens is a wizards scenario…

    • RE: 100 point armies 4 USSR

I went 2-1+ at leage night

I was 2-0 with my soviet squad

      KV-1 x1
      T-34 Guards x1
      T-70 x1
      Cossack Captain x1
      Fanatical Sniper x1
      Soviet Grenaiders x2

Worked pretty well unfortuently the grenaders get so left behind from the action that they make little difference…

1st game I played an axis squad who had a lot of small armor units. My T-34 Guards had grat position on the map and just cut threw his panzers. But he had incredible rolls he was able to destroy my KV-1 in the 3rd turn (i made a rookie mistake of forgeting to use hulking mass). Also my T-70 was destroyed on turn 3 with almost a perfect enemy roll. But It was the T34 who had great position by the objective who ended the game.

      1-0

2nd game I played an Axie squad with a vet Tiger. I was very scared of the Tiger and avoided direct confrontation. Then I managed to secluded and isolate the Tiger and blitzed with my T-34G & KV1… unfortuently I lost the T34 but I killed the tiger. Once the tiger was gone it was over.

      2-0

3rd game I was Axis running my newly pulled tiger one (I bought 2 packs 1 base the other base 2… I pulled a tiger 1 and king tiger! omg). I threw together this team so I had no big expectations… also worst case if I lose I new I would be tied for first. I chaced around his tanks… but time was called about turn 4, and I still had strong position and good control of the objective but point wise I had lost much more infantry. Since it was so early in the match we went by points but I didnt complain because I tied for 1st.

      2-1

The guy i tied with didnt want to play a tie breaker, he claimed he had to go, so we broke it over WW2 history trivia question and I got it!  :-D Not bad for my first tornment

Any ideas what I should run instead of the soviet grenadiers?

      WOW amazing battles! Great job!

Krusk is my favorit WW2 battle… once my friends and i get enough tanks we will run it… but not so many Tigers as u had just to give the soviets more of a fight… and I think i’ll divide it have germany come from the north and south and russians defending in the middle. hehehe I cant wait!

    • RE: Su-152 & BA-10M

      @Der:

Two new russian units posted: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=ah/aa/welcome

The BA-10M is nice for early war games, and even later war can be useful to hunt down support units.

The Su-152 has a nice attack against both soldiers and vehicles with Bombardment. It has the good defence and hulking mass of the KV-1, but also a drawback - no defencive fire - meaning units can easily move around (or through) it to get out of arc. However they still have to get passed the defence. An interesting unit.

I like the Su-152, because it can do what many of the other heavy armor cannot… it can beat infantry very well! The no turret could be a problem… but the heavy armor should offset that problem. We shall see…

    • What armor setups in 100pt game r viable 4 germany?

Well what can I say Germany has some great tanks but if im playing in a 100 pt game im not a fan of putting 2/3rds of my points in one tiger. Lots of the german builds I see are mainly all infantry. But i love the tiger tank, is the Panther tank an alternative in a competive 100 pt play? Or what other armor setups have people found to work well for germany in 100 pt games?

    • 100 point armies 4 USSR

Hello Im new to the game, but am learning fast…

My local store will be hosting A & A games (I asume 100 point 15 unit limit)

Right now my best side by far would be soviet union…

      I have:

      Armor
      KV-1
      T-34
      T-34 Guard
      T-70

      Soldiers
      cossack captain
      communist partisans x2
      PPsh-41 SMG
      Fanatical sniper

*Now i relize that im a little short on infantry but i can get them easly…

Im looking for more of a blanced build… but players I play against tend to have a more armor heavy build… its hard not to play with those sexy tigers even though they take all ur points ;p

Im look at somthing like this:

      KV1
Cossack captain (of da combo with KV1)
      T-34 Guards
      T-70
      (thats 86 points so far)

not sure how to approach the infantry… looking at soviet granaders, but they have a very limited range…
partisans seem interesting, but i may need a few pointers on how they should be used effectivly & how many should be run…
Also is there any advantage to running the T-34/76 instead to take advantage of its transport ability?

Im more worried with enimy infantry than armor… I pretty confident that i have enough armor to go mono de mono with a armor heavy german side… Anything I should do to deal with infanty? Is aircraft gonna give me fits?

And basic strategy with this Russia i should be made aware of? hehehe ya that was a mouth full… Thanx ahead of time!

      @Der:

The Russian tanks were slaughtered but there were a few reasons for this. Firstly it was our mistake to put one new player, and one relatively unexperienced player on the Russian side while the Germans had three experienced players - we had assumed the Russians would be able to hold their own despite this but we were wrong. Secondly, perhaps because of their experience, the Russian player (West) refused to commit his tanks and concentrate his firepower. Consquently his forces were destroyed piecemiel; he held most of his T-34s in reserve.  He also had several very unlucky rolls.

The Eastern Russian player just rushed all his tanks into battle, often going to point-blank; which is actually fairly historical. Left against the Panzer Company he might have even defeated them, however since the Western player wasn’t actively opposing my Army Group Centre I was able to swing around with a platoon of Tigers and decimate him.

However we knew in the beginning that the Germans had the advantage in armour; the game wasn’t based on points but capturing several objectives which the Germans (just barely) failed to do.

We used the equivalent of a Regiment for each side, and found that it left enough room to comfortably maneuvre units. Here’s the main elements of the SS Panzer Regiment used:

      Tiger Company w/ HQ
      8x Tiger I
      6x Veteran Tiger

      Panther Platoon
      5x SS Panther G

      Panzer Company w/ HQ
      6x Panzer IV G
      2x Panzer III F
      2x Elite Panzer IV D
      7x SS Panzer F2

We don’t always play games of this size, in fact we often find small 50 point infantry platoon battles to be just as fun (and a little less time consuming).

Im just randomly interested with what was the make up of the soviet army in ur huge krusk battle…
