      Its a nice peice… I was kinda on the fence with WaS but the carrier machanics/air craft seem alright so I might invest in it  8-)

      Yep… 1942 is Germany’s year with the Tiger. Of course it didnt come into action until the fall of that year so if ur doing a battle for Moscow winter 41-42 I wouldn’t run Tigers.

      1941 can be tricky for Germany, but with SS Panzergreadier and mix of cheap armor you should do alright. Luckly 4 u T-34’s r rare ;) Unless u play against someone like me who has multiple…

      As for the 88 its great if ur playing a huge game in map size and points… but are weak vs airplanes and paratroopers and in small maps they r relativly worthless and inefficent…

    • RE: Battle of Prokhorovka (aka Kusk)

      @Der:

      I also distrust wikipedia as a primary source of information; it’s usually not completely accurate.

      I completely agree… Wilpedia is a nice intro, but thats about it, especally when it comes to numbers of units at battles you need several sources…

      *also Panzer IV was the most feilded unit for the Germans so I think you should add more… and by the battle of Krusk Panzer III’s roles were very much cut back since they had lost much of there effectiveness…

      Also dont forget the large number of infantry units that played a huge role in this battle!

    • RE: 1941 Builds

      @axisfan:

      Any ideas on a good German build.

      1941 and under

      20 Units

      1 hero

      150 points

      Thanks,

      I asume this is like for a duel vs USSR? Elite Panzer IV’s and Stugs should do it for armor… we did an Gateway to Moscow sim and I ran 2x Stug, 3x Panzer III 2x Panzer IV and various infantry (I picked more Panzer III b/c it was more historically accurate and made for a bigger challenge).

    • RE: Years again

      No… it is the Panther G that was a mistake… no Panthers were produced in 1942 other than a few possible protypes in november/december of 1942 (production of the tank started late nov 42). Their was a prototype avalible in september, but it was purly 4 testing purposes. The Panther didn’t see any action until the battle of Krusk in july of 1943 (in fact the offesive was delayed to get new weapons like the Panther into the front… and it didnt preform well due to mechanical bugs that wern’t fixed in it being rushed to the front and a few tactical mistakes that lost a lot to anti-tank mines in the opening attack).

      This has always bothered me so my playing group just kinda gentlemens agreement the panther G to 1943.

      FYI the sad thing is the Panther Ausf. G wasnt even produced until 1944
      http://www.onwar.com/tanks/germany/tfpantherg.htm

      The Panther G is also the most type of Panther produced (starting in march of 44) http://www.achtungpanzer.com/pz4.htm

      If we look throughout the game there are simlar mistakes but this is clearly one of the biggest, especally since it is a popular peice!

      *we debated this on the avalon boards too… there are many big date mistakes, but the Panther G is one of the biggest… also KV-1 is labled '42 even though it was in the red army in '39 Winter War and even the flavor text on the stat card refers to KV-1 action that took place in 1941…

    • RE: What armor setups in 100pt game r viable 4 germany?

      @The:

      were talking about 100pt armor builds
      i fancy the new panther i have two and enjoy them on the battlfield

      ya thats an option but i preffer a Brummbär to a 2nd Panther D b/c if they have a lot of infantry it can be tricky to kill them with the panther.

      I like the new Panther D (35 pts) & Brummbär (22 pts) with a handfull of SS Panzergrenadiers and a hamsfur, maybe a faust or 2… very fun

    • RE: Scenario builds

      @dezrtfish:

      What does the map look like?

      It was Krusk sim… i forget the map setup, maybe i’ll put it up tommorrow…

      I was 2-0 with USSR

      Team:

      SU-152 x1
      T-34 x2
      KV-1 x2
      Cossack Captain x1
      PPSH x3
      land mines x5
      tank obstacle x1

      *Worked pretty well… only trouble was the first turn were those nasty tigers and panthers can take a crack at u when u cant really hit back. The terrible part was when my KV-1 was destroyed first assult phase by a stupid flamo panzer… rrrrrrr but I got my revenge.

      Well if its the 1st base set starter I believe u get 1 random rare and the rest are fixed units such as Panzer IV and Sherman… extra, but u get all those important maps!

    • RE: New starter pack

      Which starter is it? The first one is only one rare and the rest are fixed units!… the secound has like two boosters combined (a base set and a base set 2, so u get 2 rares).

    • RE: The 88 sucks…

      @AgentOrange:

      At least that’s the impression I get from reading the card.  Has anyone else noticed that there is no “Relocate 2” ability on the 88’s Stat card?  Does that actually mean that the durn thing is so big that it can’t move by itself?  I’m thinking this has to be a misprint…

      Well… it doesnt have “heavy gun” for nothing, its a huge peice and would be inaccurate if it could move by it self, i believe it was too large for that. Needs a Sd Kfz 250 to movie it.

    • RE: 100 point armies 4 USSR

      @Der:

      So if I understand this correctly… soviet infantry are too slow, so you’re dropping your fastest unit… to add more slow infantry?  :?

      Maybe some T-38s of Soviet M3 Lees then.

      hehehe very confusing… ummm what I ment is since I only had like 2/3 infantry units (cc was a ank rider obv) that I didnt get to use them effectivly, mybe if i added more infantry they would be more effective.
