RE: What is your favorite NFL team and why?posted in General Discussion
I don’t care if they lose every game I pull for the home town, Arizona Cardinals. Although I am much happier if they can manage to end the season over .500.

RE: Deployedposted in General Discussion
Wow, it’s been awhile since I checked in.
Let’s see, yes that is me in the pic, I’m in the middle of my third tour, (First two were Iraq) Congrats on killing three people, however that’s a topic I prefer not to discuss. I am from the US. I appreciate the support, I do what I do because I can and I am good at it. I believe in the ”Ask not” theory of JFK. As for religion, I have seen religion from many points of view in my travels and as a general rule I find it all to be hogwash…
I think that about covers it all

RE: Any of you guys fisherman?posted in General Discussion
My favorite is trout, as long as they are biting slow enough so I can drink my beer  I did have some fun with some huge Catfish type creatures in Baghdad a few years ago though. I busted a bass pole before I got a good strong cat pole.

It would be interesting to see how American teams would fare on a CFL field with CFL rules…

I was playing an expansion game a few years ago. It was a 1939 version and had an option for Japan to do a surprise double attack the first turn that they attacked anyone other than China or a Neutral. I had carefully planned the first several turns of my game so that when my surprise attack came I would crush the allies. So I captured all of China and a couple small neutrals then launched my carefully scripted double assault. My attacks went flawlessly; I captured the entire pacific as well as the south of Asia all the way to the Middle East. It was a huge victory for the Axis. I was at the gates of Moscow and everyone agreed that the game was all but won.
So the US out of desperation launched a suicide mission on the Japanese home Island. He had to clear my small defensive fleet and kill the small home defense. The Japanese forces were small, but the US could only reach with 1 transport and a few air units. The attack was laughable. Until I (Japan) did not score a single hit in 9 rounds of combat and lost my home territory. Per the rules I had 1 round to recover my capital. However, my lightening assault had put all my units just out of reach of return to Japan…

RE: Movie suggestions?posted in General Discussion
Haha, I was checking to see if a movie had been represented yet, and saw I repeated myself.
But anyway, since it’s been referenced lately: Spaceballs.
So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

It’s an M4 on my lap, I have qualified on the M2 and the M240B as well. The 240B is my favorite as long as it’s mounted. I have also qualified with an M60, a long time ago ;)

RE: The War Gameposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
I played agan this past weekend, the scale is off on the planes, and the Armor is bigger too, the Maus is huge.
There are also multiple types of units, there are ME 262, as well as FW 190s and Bf 109s. The Sub is a type XXI and I’m not fond of that piece, but it comes in handy.
The artillery are 88s as well as the nebelwerfers. There are also two infantry poses, one with the KAR 98 and one with an MP40.
In general the pieces are ok, not as good quality as the hasbro games, but the map, as I’ve said before is awesome. There are some rules I don’t care for, but rules can be changed or modified.

RE: Nuclear Iranposted in General Discussion
So… I guess I’m missing something, where in the theory of intelligent design does it say anything that compares with “it is the duty of true Muslims to fight half the world to mutual destruction so that god will return to the earth and save everyone"?
I think there is a huge difference between Christian fundamentalism and Islam. Every day in Iraq and other parts of the Middle East people are killed for not just having the wrong religion but for not being in the right sect of that religion. I won’t say that never happens here, but when it does those people are looked at by the general public as freaks and legal action is taken, prison etc. In the Middle East these types of people are often looked at as heroes with great moral strength.
You may think that incidences like that are rare, but I will tell you that the people there expect to be punished severely if they don’t live their lives within the confines of Islam.
I wish I could explain more about my experiences, but much of how I did my job is classified for good reason.

RE: Nuclear Iranposted in General Discussion
LMAO, OK….
I will tell you that in that part of the world people aren’t as connected as you. Schools in that part of the world are religious schools and they have no one to account to for what they teach. There was a local national interpreter that I worked with who told me that when he was in grade school there was a day regularly where they burned the Israeli flag.
I’m not going to bother to try to convince anyone here or anywhere else, but I doubt you have any idea of what religious fundamentalism looks like or just how prevalent it is in the Middle East.
