RE: Ermm. dificould?posted in General Discussion
Not harder, just more technical.(and fun)
Personaly, I would go with the original Axis & Allies. But it depends on your situation.
A&A has 2 to 5 players, AAE has 2 to 4 players and AAP has 2 or 3 players.
The rules to A&A are more simple but the strategies are more varried and complex.
Also A&A is a longer game than the others.
Europe seems to take about 4 hours, while my A&A games are rarely over in 8 hours. -

RE: A&A europe and pacific adjustmentsposted in General Discussion
I think if you changed th victory conditions to Gemrmany capture two capitals and then reduce the Military of Russia it would help.
The main reason Germany hits Russia so hard is because they don’t have to defend Western Europe. -
RE: It's impossible for Japan to win in A&A Pacificposted in Axis & Allies Pacific
I just reread the CAP rule, and I think the CAP defends along with any units in the same sea zone.

RE: When was the last A&A releasedposted in General Discussion
I’ve seen AAp and AAE in game stores here, I haven’t looked for the original in a while. I have a copy and my Game partner has two. We also each have a copy of World at War. We never run out of pieces.
I don’t know how international shipping works, but I would be willing to do what I can to help. Especialy a fellow from the “home land”

Another Idea is taking SquadLeader and replacing the tiles with plastic miniatures like the ones Axis and Allies. Then maybe adding 3D buildings and terian features etc.
SquadLeader is a fun game but I think it would be beter with miniatures.

RE: What's nextposted in General Discussion
You could start the Game with the treaties that existed in July of 1914. Then make a system for breaking or creating treaties and alliances. The possibilities are huge.
It would basically be a combination of Diplomacy and Axis and Allies.

Also the trench war could have possibly been avoided. I believe the last words of the author of the Schlieffen Plan, Germany’s main battle plan for WWI (and WWII for that matter) were “keep the right arm strong”(paraphrased)
If (as was done in WWII) the Germans had used a bit more force in the initial swing through Belgium it could have been a different war.Ever played Guns of August? I’m with Sten I think it would be a good game.

I depends on what the situation is.

RE: Best generalposted in General Discussion
I am sorry, but you are mistaken.
The US government on advise from the CIA adopted a “Roll-Back” strategy during the offensive campaign, which was determined, would end communism in Korea. The Chinese feeling a dept of gratitude to their comrades who had just helped them win a revolution, decided to assist them long before troops came near the Chinese border. The problem here was that Western intelligence has historically been unable to guess what Asians will do in a given military/political situation.
But hey, lets get back to World War 2.

RE: How long do your board games usually last?posted in General Discussion
My fastest game was a play-by-Email game. I was Axis and the Russians attacked ukraine with every thing available. When the dust settled I still had 1 Tank and 1 Fighter! Russia also atacked Manchuria with similar results. On germanys turn I took Karalia and the Caucasus with no losses. At the end of Japan’s first turn Russia had 4 units left on the board! He didn’t even take a turn for the US.

RE: Best generalposted in General Discussion
The Chinese had determined to commit troops if the “UN” forces crossed the 38th parallel. When they did it was not Macarthur’s decision. The US gov. (CIA) believed that the Chinese would stay out of Korea. They expected the Chinese to build a defensive line at the border.
The decision to use nukes was made by Truman. It was determined, when the front stabilized near the 38th Parallel, that if large numbers of Chinese or Russian troops were moved in to Korea, nukes would be used on specific targets in Manchuria.
Macarthur did very little out side of his orders. He was told to use only ROK units within a certain distance of the Chinese border. ROK units were of very low quality for the most part, so Mac used his judgment to the counter of his orders here.
Macarthur wanted to attack what he saw as a threat. That’s what Generals do. I don’t think the conflicts between him and the US Gov. make him any less of a General. Maybe if some of the German Generals were a little more like Mac and Patton they would have had a chance to show their true abilities in WWII.

GC:
We are talking about Korea in this case.Yanny:
I guess you’ve heard some things that I haven’t. When Mac was removed it was due to the fact that Truman belived he couldn’t trust Mac to stay withing the boundries he was given. Mac wanted to take the war to China and had nukes at his disposal. Truman was afraid that if we atacked the Chinese on there own soil that the USSR would join in starting WWIII.Have you ever played the Avlon Hill game “Korea”? I think Mac was in a tough spot and it seems to me with what he faced he did a good job.
