Everyone who has played them has an opinion, this is mine:
1)Axis & Allies World at War Expansion
2)Axis & Allies Original
3)A&A Pacific
4)A&A Europe

Well the weapons and uniforms of the SS are cool and I think people worry about not being up to standard to represent well-respected units like the Rangers etc. Those Units do exist though. When I joined up my choices were American Infantry, German SS, German Weer, or Scottish Airborne. The Scots were some damn cool guys. In fact I was considering putting together two kits, But that stuff gets expensive! The basic uniform for the Germans is the cheapest I believe, which was a major factor in my choice. I think I probably spent close to $1000 and I just had a K98 bolt-action rifle. Some of the guys who are into it spend thousands on automatic weapons and vehicles.
We, the 10 SS, had 3 BMW motorcycles with sidecars, a kublewagon, a 2 1/2 ton truck, and a towed anti tank gun as well as several MP-40s and a couple crew served machine guns.
You can use the sticky part of a post-it-note To make some changes to your map.
With Russia you need to slow himdown as much as possible by slowly with drawing and keeping just out of reach. While you do this Try to get as much American and British troups into Moscow as possible. The British and American Fighters are Important for this.
Send a couple Infantry a turn to Novosbirsk and land your fighters there. If you consentrate on defending that territory with russian and Other allied troups you should be able to hold it long enough. It is important to anticipate Japans attacks and withdraw all but 1 Infantry to slow him down then you will be able to consolodate in Novo.
The allies in Asia can do this as well. Move one Infantry from Sinkiang to Novo. If you know he is going to take India withdraw toward Novo.
Try that and see if it stops him. If not I have other more complex Strats.
Actualy Califoria is one of the more popular states for WWII reenacting. They represent Units from Many diferent countries. I think the largest Unit in California is the 12th SS Hitlerjugend. If you do a search on MSN for “WWII and reenactment” you’ll be ammazed at what you see.
Actually the best and biggest battle I participated in was an Arnham simulation, which was held at the “combat town” at Ft. Ord., which is in YOUR neck of the woods.
There were several hundred participants Mostly British Airborne and German SS, although I believe there were actually some people who dressed as members of the 1st Polish AB.
I’ll see if I can find some links for you.
I agree. Besides by rating at AAMC is bad enough as it is
The same thing happend to me. I lost touch with most of the people I played with. About a year ago, when I registered here, I started looking on the net and found quite a few players in my area. I knew if I looked hard enough there would be players out there.
I live in Phoenix, Arizona Where belive it or not there are over 3 millon people(including suburbs)

There are different ways to do a bid game. What it boils down to basicly is giving the axis extra units or IPCs to take that side.
The most common way is for player one to say
“I’ll play axis for 18 IPCs”
Then player two says “I’ll play axis for 17IPCs”
This continues until one player is unwilling to go any lower. At this point the Axis player usualy Spends the IPCs and places them on any axis controled territory. Then the game begins as usual.
There is also a variation were each side bids once secretly. Then the lower bid takes axis as normal with his placements.
Bids varry generaly between 14 and up to 22 or sometimes even more.

There were three separate Organizational divisions within the SS
1)Allgemeine (General)
2)Totenkopfverbande (Deaths Head organization)
3)Waffen (Fighting)
The first two are the ones that most people think of when you say SS. They wore the black uniforms and controlled the genocide programs. The Waffen SS were elite fighting units comprised of all volunteers who met high expectance standards. They received the best equipment and training. Many waffen SS units were units made entirely of foreign volunteers.
The reenactment unit I was in and the uniform in my closit are waffen SS. We even had an advisor who served in the unit we portrayed.
This will sound very unoriginal but I think the Waffen SS field uniform is the best. I spent a couple years durring college in reenacting group, the 10th SS Frundsburg Division. I still use my smock to play paintball in. Although my reenactment friends would have a heart attack! The reversible camo patern is awsesome. I’ve worn it from desert to pine forest and blended in perfectly.
He was captured by yhe Americans on 10 May 1945. After the war he returned to Germany. He later wrote an autobiography and eventualy died in 1954 when he was 76.
Yanny, perhaps you should start a thread where people who are interested in tournements would post ONLY thier name and e-mail address. It might make things a little more clear.

I just took a look in the down loads section on this site and the DOS map utility is there. However as I said before the windows utility is much more user friendly. However if your system runs on an NT platform I don’t think the Windows Utility works.
There is always the MOT utility though. With the mot utility your file contains all of the game turns in a windows file type format, so you can review previous turns. Also, MOT has modules for A&A, AAP and AAE.
The link can be found at the same place as the one I listed above.
If you use the map utility it has names for all the sea zones, also the deployment is not realy nessaccery.
For those that don’t know, a map utility is a small program that lets you add, delete or move units on a map and send the map to some one else who has the same program so that they can make modifications and send it back. The utility however dosen’t roll dice or enforce movement rules, its just a picture. So you need eather an automated dice server or a Game Master.
I was hoping this could be yanny’s next project. I like playing, but I don’t have time for Setting up tournies or GMing.
Yes, but that is the only alternative to trying to schedule games on a game server like the Zone, or in a chat room.
You useualy get One turn a day finnished and games usualy take a month or more.
I think capitalism combined with a democratic government is the way to go. I think Communistic societies cater to lazy people. It is true that the heads of large corporations make money off of other peoples labor, however people don’t become leaders of major corporations without a lot of hard work. Also I think Capitalism is much more conducive to scientific advancement.
And I rarely take offence to anything I read on the Internet, I think anyone who does is a bit silly, due to the fact that some people post things just to see what kind of reaction they can get.
And belive me dry or not 120 Deg. F. is damn hot! LOL but I still prefer that to 50 Deg.
How about this for a turn order?
Germany
Russia
Italy
Britain
Japan
USA
and I think taking Germanys area of expansion away more than makes up for strenthening Italy.
This is an example of the format I use. The Game master would add in the results after rolling the dice.
