      Have you ever heard of “faith?”

      You mean my George W. Bush quote?

      If so, yes, it’s for real. I believe he was referring to Bill Clinton. He was talking about when Clinton fired off a few cruise missiles to combat “terrorism” in the Middle East.

      But, YES, the quote is for real.

    • RE: Prostitution

      @F_alk:

      Two points:
      First, as long as it is illegal, it is very dangerous for her. Violence from the pimps, the “customers”, the police etc, with noone to really go to for help… No, i wouldn’t like that.

      If it was a legal job, with the security-measurements that you need for that job … then i come to point two:
      Walk the streets … that is extremely “low standard” prostitution. No, i wouldn’t like to see that. My daughter should be smart enough to know what her price is, and that would be more that walking on the streets, but maybe some kind of high-class-whore. …

      (Laughing Out Loud) :lol:
      Always keep high aspirations for your children…

      @F_alk:

      And i am still waiting for the numbers of the guns and deaths in the USA….

      Guns death in the United States: 39,595

      BUT……that’s nothing compared to abortion statistics: 1,200,000*

      *I bring this up because these are both intentional “killings.”

      @F_alk:

      As a question for you: Will you support gun ownership after your daughter/son has been killed in a high school massacre?

      I absolutely will. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. That kid who brings the gun to school to kill someone could have just as easily attacked them with a bomb or a knife. If you want to talk about school shootings, we need to get to the root of the problem, not just address the after-effects. My point is, is that those kids are troubled to begin with, and psychological counseling and education for teachers and students will do WAY MORE to prevent school shootings, then just taking away one of their weapons.

      @eyeless_9mm:

      why invest so much time in something that can never be answered. live your life and focus and the present, not the future! we have to experience the present to arrive at the future. besides, what we believe in about death and afterlife is highly irrelevant, what ever happens WILL happen regardless of wether we think we’ll roast in hell or drink milk and honey in the clouds for the rest of eternity. it is also my opinion to say that god is dead, he/she/they have been dead for a while (although how long i still debate) but god has been replaced with truth and science (although some still cling to thier religion) and pro-choice. i mean think about, we are doing things that were once reserved for gods, mass annihilation (nuclear weapons), genetic alteration, etc. also look around at the people walking in the streets, women wear sexy clothing, people drink and do what they chose to do, sex is highly advertised in the media. people have no need for god anymore. god is deader than dead. the moment god died is when people began to ignore thier religion, engage in whatever they wish, started asking questions, rebelling, and when the universe became an OPEN one instead of a CLOSED universe …

      Hmm…I disagree.

      Not everyone is doing the all the crap that you pointed out. I don’t agree with it, and I sure as hell don’t participate in it.

      I completely disagree with your apathy (maybe disregard) for a God. It’s pretty sad (and blatantly obvious) that you have so little humility as to think that you have as much power as God. It’s one thing to not believe in God, but it’s a whole 'nother to think that you have replaced him. Is it that hard to have faith in something? We may not have the scientific evidence that we are all reliant upon for evidence of a higher power, but is it too hard to comprehend that there may be something bigger and more powerful out there…than you?

      I feel pretty sorry for you. :-? That’s all I’ve got to say.

    • RE: Reperations for Blacks

      Yea, I’ve come to address that issue also.

      First of all, Yes, Japanese Americans who were interned during WW2 DID get reparations from the United States govnerment. However, the ONLY people who recieved this payment were SURVIVORS. Not the 6th generation ancestors on the mother’s, brothers’, uncle’s side as is the situation with many blacks.

      I’ve got absolutely no problems repaying a slave who is still alive for the oppression that they had to endure, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a person who fits this requirement. Being a relative of someone who was a slave 140 years ago is a weak argument. :roll:

    • Reperations for Blacks

      I’ve heard this topic mentioned recently in other posts, and I wanted to get some opinions on what path we should persure as a country.

      Personally, I completely disagree with reperations for slavery. Let me tell you why I think this way.

      First: The whole idea is completely racist. The reperations idea generalizes by saying that all blacks were victims and all whites were the villians. In reality, this is simply not true. There were MANY white people who gave their lives trying to fight for the anti-slavery cause. On the flip-side, there were MANY black people in Africa who actually sold their own people into slavery. Now, that’s only one of the reasons that I disagree with this topic for.

      Second: They need to open their eyes. The people who are fighting for free money (reperations, if you prefer) need to open their eyes to the real problems in their society. Many advocates say that they are still affected by the slavery movement, and that, for some reason, they deserve payment as a result of their life being crappy. We need to look at the facts:

      41% of black males aged 15 and up are married.
      36% of black children live in two-parent families.

      Those are huge problems right there. Reperations advocates need to confront the real problems, and stop blaming their troubles on something that happened 136 years ago.
      (P.S.- 85% of black children grew up in two parent families in 1925…therefore, unless the affects of slavery skip generations, there’s no excuse for this.)

      I’m sure the liberals in this forum will argue this with me, but I’m curious to see what you guys think. :)

    • RE: Prostitution

      @F_alk:

      What is bad about the situation at the moment.

      You have pimps out there who do not differentiate between legal aged and underage women. This is an enormous problem. Not to mention the spread of AIDS and other STD’s.

      @F_alk:

      What would be worse (!) if you made prostitution “more legal” or “absolutely legal” (which means, different degrees, grey tones, in what’s illegal, what’s being prosecuted etc).

      As: If it doesn’t make the situation worse, why not make it legal? Less laws, less government involvement … isn’t that one of the basics of US-way-of-thinking? And it could always improve… even it doesn’t solve all problems overnight (again greytones that you forgot to think of or mention)

      A lot could be worse. Look at the problems that prostitution is creating today, and imagine the intensity of those problems when you have even MORE people out on the street selling themselves.

      Ok, now it’s my turn.
      My question to you is: If you think prostitution is absolutely fine, and that we should be allowed to sell ourselves however we want, would you let your own daughter (or when you have one) walk the streets and sell sex for money? Please tell me that you are smart enough to realize the reprocussions that come from something like this…

      Yea, well, there’s not much we can do about it to prevent countries from getting their hands on the technology. Out of the eight countries that possess nuclear weapons today, almost none of them did so using America’s help.

      50 years from now, we’ll be developing bigger and better weapons that make nuclear bombs look like water balloons. It’s all we can do to stay alive.

    • RE: Prostitution

      Well, your accusations aren’t entirely accurate. I do have evidence to support my claim. Look at the laws that we have against prostitution in the United States. This is evidence that supports my claims.

      Don’t compare pro-slavery to anti-prositution. They are two entirely different mindsets. I understand what you’re trying to say about the opinion of a majority of people, but it’s falls to deaf ears. This subject is not completely black and white. You can’t just “make prostitution legal” and expect the problems that go with it to disappear. You need to look at the big picture.

      american self justification: If you stand isolated, call everyone else cowards! Never admit that you could be wrong, as americans are never wrong!

      Who said we’re never wrong? I can lay out plenty of mistakes that America has made. IMO: We’re not wrong in this instance. Oh well, I guess everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, and debating this is what’s fun. :P

      @F_alk:

      american definition of democracy:
      democracy is good for the american people. If it is outside the USA it still has to be good for the american people.

      Not neccessarily. It just can’t pose a threat to the American people. There’s a big difference.

      @F_alk:

      that remembers me of the american definition of patriotism:
      patriotism is good, except for people who are not US-americans.

      That’s cute. I wish I would have thought of this one. Too bad it’s not true… :cry:

      @F_alk:

      If you want to avoid double standards, then don’t use them yourself: You are the superpower, whatever you do must therefore be correct. You use double standards, the use of double standards therefore is legitimate. You don’t want double standards used against you……
      wise wise all-knowing citizen of the superpower, help me, i don’t understand how that works!

      I’m sorry F_alk, double standards are a part of American life. They teach them to us starting in Kindergarten. It’s the basic essence of American life for which we all make decisions based upon. :lol:

      I love hearing people from other countries comment on decisions that American’s make. These make the best posts. :wink:

      The chinese have more brains than you. Read “the art of war”.

      I’ve read “The Art of War.” What’s your point? See what I say in the next paragraph.

      @Yanni:

      Your one of those crazy Americans. Ok, lets take Iraq, then Iran, then North Korea, then China, then Russia… its a never ending war. We should focus on things that concern us, and help people.

      Waaaaiiiiiitttt. Back this horse up a minute. Where did I say we should go after every country that possesses nuclear weapons? Go find my post that says that and maybe I’ll agree with you, but until then…don’t put words in my mouth. I’m simply saying that we need to be cautious, and not treat everyone like our friend. There is more going on behind the scenes then what’s readily visible to us citizens.

      @Jazz:

      Deviant:Scripter, judging from Yanny’s post, i think he could use that explanation you offered.

      I least it appears that I have one supporter here. :D

      We all know it’s going to happen again.

      If the Palestinian Leadership would stop the bloodshed, and allow peace talks to rise above violence, then there is a possibility for reaching a mutual agreement. But not until that happens will Israel consider giving up anything.
