Pearl harbor combined with an invasion is a great strategy because it allows the Japanese player to distract the US from attempting to help in the European theatre of war allowing Germany to focus on Russia.

RE: Taking Karelia 1st turnposted in Axis & Allies Classic
I think that the only way to take Karelia is if the USSR player is stupid and doesn’t attack you turn one. (Except if you play RR which my friends refuse to play.) Otherwise try to take it if it doesn’t weaken your western front too much.
Also, what’s up with all the new desert foxes? How many books have you read about Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel and/or the Afrika Korps? I have read three!

RE: 1000 year Reich, was it possible?posted in General Discussion
Not Hitler, but someone could. Look at Rome, it lasted from 753 BC until 476 AD. That is a time span of 1,229 years!

Open markets are good. They endorse competition that keeps prices low and my bank account high. The more supply, the cheaper the product.

RE: United Kingdom -underrated in all waysposted in Axis & Allies Classic
The IC would be proctected by three inf and atleast one ftr by J1. (They would be taken from India.) So UK1 buy 1 IC in SA and 2 inf (to keep an invasion of the British Isles at bay). UK2 buy 1 AC and 1 ftr. UK3 buy another ftr and 2 tanks. UK 4 buy 2 ftrs. Then prepare for an invasion of Europe after Afrika has been protected. (An invasion from Libya into SE with help from America would be nice.) Build 3 trannies UK5 and 4 tanks on UK6 and then launch the Invasion on UK7.

Go for Afrika (I like spelling Africa Afrika) instead of india. Build an IC in SA, or if possible in AES. Ignore india except to withdraw from it. Afrika is worth more than india and is more easily reinforceable. Build a carrier with one aircraft off of the SA IC and bring the sub and BB in the Med to Cape of Good Hope. From there build aircraft on UK and move your large fleet up to Britain where you can build Trannies and men for D-Day. (Save some money from turn one so you can by the Carrier and ftr on B2 in SA)

I have only seen Phantom Menace of Star Wars and never watched Star Trek. I really could care less if either one of them dissapeared forever. I guess I would go with Star Wars though.

RE: United Kingdom -underrated in all waysposted in Axis & Allies Classic
I think it is a good strategy except for the splitting of the two fighters. Instead move them both to AES and have the US retreat into India from Sinkiang and China. That should work because no one will ever invade india on J1. However, the fighters flying to AES might be a problem because on G1 AES is normally taken. So you want to the fighters to Syria-Iraq if AES is taken. Then from there launch a campaign to retake Afrika und invade Italien.
:-? Bad Desertfox, giving advice that might work against you as Germany. :-?

RE: Should Japan attack Pearl on first turn?posted in Axis & Allies Classic
Go for it. Then on J2 attack the US fleet off of the West US. This should do two things: 1) Destroy the US fleet and 2)Eleminate any chance for them to put more boats in the water. J1 buy 3 transports to use as cannon fodder against aircraft, which the US player will use in an attempt to destroy your fleet. Transports bought on J2 can carry infantry and maybe a tank, thus endangering the US homeland. Meanwhile, work with inf and fighters in Asia, you don’t need to buy more troops to do that. Take China, Sinkiang, India on J1, J2, and J3 respectively.

Yeah, I know. A 30-6 is about 7.62 x 63mm. The 8mm mauser seems the best in my opinion.

RE: "Greatest Generation"posted in General Discussion
I disagree because I think people born in the twenties deserve to be called the greatest generation. People who were born in the 30’s didn’t fight in WW2 except for the Hitlerjugend.

What about a Democratic Communist Republic? There is a president elected by the citizens, a senate to make and change laws, and the government takes all the money, buys goods, and then gives everyone the same things. No taxes to complain about, no neighbor rivalries over lawnmowers, everyone is equal and has equal things. Everyone is also egually important. (The trash guy is just as important as the doctor because without the trash guy, the town would be so unsanitary that the doctor would be over whelmed. )

Why was the 5.56 better? Was it more comfortable and lighter, better accuracy?

.45vs9mmposted in General Discussion
Don’t tell me you didn’t expect this. :D
45 ACP is better than 9mm luger. (Although I would prefer to make the cartridge for the ACP 25mm long instead of 22/23.)
